  1. Halftime, Bulls up 51-49. They look really good at the moment. 15 and 11 for Sweets in ONE HALF! Kobe Bryant has 24, but he is shooting 11 for 19 and it's unlikely he can keep that up the entire game, so I like our chances. Good play so far.
  2. Here's ND's margin of victory in their 8 wins, on a much tougher schedule than Fresno's: Pitt - 21 (was 42-13 at one point) Mich - 7 Washington - 19 Purdue - 21 (49-21 at one point) BYU - 26 Tennessee - 21 Navy - 21 (was 42-14 at one point) Syracuse - 24 (was 34-3 at one point) ND, as is clearly obvious here, has kicked all their 'weak' opponents' cans as well, and those teams are far better than the teams Fresno has killed (Weber State, Toledo, New Mex St, Utah St, Idaho, Hawaii, San Jose St, and Boise St). I fail to see your logic. Is there an ingrained bias towards ND in the polls? Yes. Adamb0719, myself and SouthSideRyan have all freely admitted that. Just as there is an ingrained bias towards Michigan, Ohio St, USC, Texas, and all other perennially successful teams. It's just going to happen, and everyone knows it. Most of the time (although probably not this year), it won't have any effect on the actual bowl picture. Therefore it doesn't really mean that much. The rankings, when it comes right down to it, are just a number until they affect bowl selection.
  3. I'm sick of having this discussion, so all I will say is that if you really don't think Notre Dame would look as good or better if they switched schedules with Fresno, then you are either absurdly anti-Notre Dame or probably don't know much about football.
  4. And you guys don't have an easy road left, either. At Tampa, at Pittsburgh, vs Atlanta still left. If you go 2-1 in those you'll get home field methinks.
  5. I'd be shocked. Remember the Trojans scored 70 on them.
  6. Good luck to the Panters the rest of the way too. We will prob need their help with them knocking some teams off for us. By the way how is a tie breaker for HFA? Is it points allowed? pretty sure its head-to-head then its record in the conference. I mean what if the Bears and Giants tie who has home field advantage throughout? this is according to NFL.com on how to sort a tiebreaker: Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head, if applicable. 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 4. Strength of victory. 5. Strength of schedule. 6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best net points in conference games. 9. Best net points in all games. 10. Best net touchdowns in all games. 11. Coin toss. I wonder if they've ever gone beyond 6 I remember in Week 17 back in the 2000 season, Carolina and New Orleans took it to tiebreaker number 4, so we had to scoreboard-watch while trying to beat the opponent (not sure who it was). NO ended up winning the tiebreaker, but Dallas, who had the tiebreaker on us and the Saints, later won to bring an anticlimactic end to that.
  7. I'll be rooting for you guys the rest of the way. This Bears team reminds me a lot of the 2003 Panthers, and that's obviously a good sign. The Bears have a very solid team, and if they can come with it against Tampa and the Falcons like they did today, we could see HFA for the Bears.
  8. ND opens up with an 18-point win over Lafayette. In his debut as a starter, Rob Kurz looks great, firing up an 18/8. Francis with 14 boards and Rick Cornett contributes 10 off the bench. An all-around solid performance by the Irish.
  9. The new AP poll: 1. USC (50) 11-0 1,586 2. Texas (14) 10-0 1,550 3. LSU 9-1 1,449 4. Penn State 10-1 1,390 5. Virginia Tech 9-1 1,283 6. Notre Dame 8-2 1,281 7. Ohio State 9-2 1,249 8. Oregon 10-1 1,107 9. Auburn 9-2 1,101 10. Miami 8-2 981 11. UCLA 9-1 932 12. West Virginia 8-1 862 13. Georgia 8-2 857 14. Alabama 9-2 723 15. TCU 10-1 722 16. Fresno State 8-2 663 17. Louisville 7-2 522 18. Texas Tech 9-2 448 19. Florida 7-3 384 20. Georgia Tech 7-3 347 21. Boston College 8-3 319 22. Michigan 7-4 235 23. Florida State 7-3 214 24. Wisconsin 8-3 160 25. Clemson 7-4 141 Looks like VT jumped the Irish. No complaints about that, or about anything else in this poll.
  10. Worst game an offensive line has ever played. Best game a defensive line has ever played. Panthers = exposed. And on top of that, my f@#$ing mouse ball-holder broke when I slammed it in frustration.
  11. That's pretty awesome for your nephew. Big conversion to Gardner, 1st down. And Steve Smith inside the 20!
  12. Good throw to Proehl. 3rd and 8 now.
  13. Stupidest play call perhaps in the history of sports. DeShaun Foster is not a quarterback. Now is not the time to try something crazy.
  14. Stupid late hit penalty helps out the Panthers.
  15. Keener, I seriously doubt that. This win, should it be completed 13-0, will do for Chicago what us beating Tampa did for us. Everyone will call you the best team in the NFC. Decent run by DeShaun on 1st down. Memo to Coach Fox: Start him.
  16. Too bad that guy that rushed Maynard couldn't block it, because there's no way we're putting together a 70+ yard scoring drive unless someone on the Bears D really screws something up.
  17. This is what we were talking about. Who cares? Let it go. His team isn't playing well, and the Bears are. Why would he give credit to the Bears, as a Panthers fan, his concern is how his team is playing? Please, let it go. Thank you. As it is, the Bears have shut a lot of people up (including, admittedly, myself) with this game.
  18. One quarter left in this deconstruction of my team's Super Bowl chances.
  19. Luckily for Bears fans, we still can't move the football. Stephen Davis catches Moose-itis and drops a decent pass, and then the Bears D-line tips it, and then Delhomme throws it to nowhere on 3rd down. We may never score a point again.
  20. Absolutely huge break for the Panthers as Orton throws behind Moose and it's tipped into Ricky Manning's hands. It's amazing to me that as bad as Carolina has looked, they're still only down 13.
  21. I watched the Panthers team that went 1-15 and had Chris Weinke at QB, and that team looked better than this team is looking. This is depressing. The Panthers aren't going anywhere this postseason.
  22. Like I said before, I don't care how good the opposing defender is, there's no excuse for allowing him to strip your QB two times in one game. Travelle Wharton is one of many Panthers that has not looked good at all in this game. Which has been a direct result of the Bears D. Its ok to give them credit, you guys arent the first team they have done it too. Am I allowed to give them credit while also noting that my own team is failing?
  23. Why don't you stop playing up the Bears to be gods? Yes, their defense is playing extremely well, but if Jake doesn't throw two TERRIBLE passes, it's 3-0 Chicago. And he's been off all game even with time. Why do you keep playing up the Carolina offense to be this amazing machine that can't be stopped by any defense, let alone the top one in the NFL? Amazing machine? No. Capable of avoiding being shut out? Yes. Well, apparently not. You're completely missing my point. If Carolina's offense was playing as well as they could, then they could at least get on the board in this game. Chicago's D has been unreal, but no team should ever be shut out for an entire half, let alone an entire game. Something's wrong if that happens.
  24. Like I said before, I don't care how good the opposing defender is, there's no excuse for allowing him to strip your QB two times in one game. Travelle Wharton is one of many Panthers that has not looked good at all in this game.
