  1. It's pretty obvious from whoever it was (Vance?) who posted that ramblings row of exclamation points right above his MS Paint illustration of Zito as a Cub. Actually its a direct quote. Wait is it the parenthetical statement from M4D's Zito rumor mongering last night?
  2. Am I crazy or does that trade not seem all that wildly off if we offered more prospects?

  4.   The Mariners are beyond stupid.
  5. Maybe he's afraid to take on a reclamation project. Say what you will about Pierre but he plays most everyday and if Hendry has his way, he's our new CF. On the other hand, Bradley played in 75 games last year. In fact, I was shocked to see that he's never played 150 games in a season (not more that 140 actually with his second highest being 101games). Wilkerson would be nice but I think it's a pipe dream. So you would give up Pie for Pierre as rumored? The Marlins aren't getting Pie. Hendry may be a moran but he likes Pie and he's not giving up our top prospect for a light-hitting CF from a team that's in firesale mode.
  6. Pujols and Gary will make up and Bennett will hit 15 homers in 100 AB.
  7. Neify wants to be a Cub. Hawkins also wanted to be a Cub. Turns out he didn't wanna be a Cubs closer though... Maybe we could say that players with actual talent who want to play for the Cubs, but only in the position they want... do well. Todd Hundley had enough talent to hit 40 homers in a season, wanted to play for the Cubs, played catcher and was probably the worst regular position player in the history of the franchise.
  8. At least the Bulls didn't give Darius Songaila the ball at all the key situations. Oh wait... Tyson Chandler gets paid 60 million effing dollars not to give up 15 offensive boards to the other team (especially ADRIAN GRIFFIN), and he doesn't do it. Is it too late to waive him?
  9. I understand where you are coming from. The only thing that gives me hope is Duncan (our pitching coach) is great with vertern pitching. Thats a big dent in the budget to have to rely on hope. Then again it is the Cards so you have reason to be positive about hope and luck, whereas us Cubs fans.....not so much  If I was a Cardinals fan I wouldn't even flinch at throwing money at Burnett, since we all know if he goes to STL he'll become Walter Johnson. I wonder why more players don't consider that when choosing where to sign...
  10. So did many other coaches. Why is that important exactly? Cause it seems most coaches place their teams higher than the average? Not if the average is 2. I still can't believe Bellotti and Willingham both ranked the Ducks 4th and ND 9th. In comparison, Weis had the Irish 4th, but ranked Oregon sixth. It seems almost as if Bellotti and Willingham were trying to push Oregon into a BCS bowl somehow.
  11. I'd do it. But who do we get to play MI then?
  12. How long until we ban that website from being mentioned on this board?
  13. Approximately 36 million heartbeats closer to death. :willynilly: And another year full of Cub fans dying without ever seeing the team win a Series. :(
  14. On the one hand, I like the idea, set up a stacked team in the future. On the other hand, baker is gonna snap zambrano's arm, prior is going to take a line drive off the skull, and lee is never going to be more expensive to sign than he is at this moment. So I guess i'm saying that if I was feeling optimistic, I'd tell the cubs to forfeit 2006 Wow, that's pathetic That's what this team has done to us. Purposely forfeiting this next season is the OPTIMISTIC scenario.
  15. Only the Bulls could find a way to be losing when they're shooting 57 percent. Kirk out for the game with a concussion courtesy of Dirk's elbow. :(
  16. If I just had a sub-2.00 ERA season, there's no way in hell I'm retiring. And besides if he doesn't there's still a decent chance he can take up a big portion of Houston's payroll, keeping them from getting any better on offense.
  17. So did many other coaches. Why is that important exactly?
  18. Harold should stick to evaluating baseball talent. http://www.annabenson.net sweet sassy molassy Anna Benson needs to go back to the trailer park that she came from. Complete trash. If she's trash then I'm gonna root through her like a rabid raccoon.
  19. I would say that Deivi Cruz will instantly become an All-Star but since the Cardinals won't have any injuries to Eckstein to facilitate that, I'll just say that he will now be the best backup middle IF in baseball.
  20. .Thumbs up. Hopefully Walt pulls a Hendry and signs Jacque Jones now. And Jones will go .305 / .365 / .460 b/c its the Cards. I doubt it. It's quite possible that Jacque Jones' suckiness is such that not even Cardinal pixie dust can make him an All-Star. I still wouldn't bet against it though. (Abraham Nunez 4 Life)
  21. $48/4 to play for the cards vs $55/5 for the blue jays? That would be an incredibly easy choice for me Fixed I think Careless was referring to the fact that Burnett grew up a Card fan and was applying that to his own hypothetical situation of being a Cub fan.
  22. Absolutely not. Stay away, Jim.
  23. Ohio State should have played Florida State in the BCS, it could be the battle between Hundred Dollar Handshakes and Free Shoes. Let those teams battle it out for the Dirty Program Championship. Would you prefer to drop the holier-than-thou attitude now, or when JoePa and the Nittany Lions get whipped in Miami? Maybe a slice of humble pie would do those in PA well right now. I'd think PSU fans have gotten enough humble pie over the last five years to feed the entire poverty-stricken population of New York City. If they want to gloat, let them. I would too if my team was one fluke play from being unbeaten (rather than two  ).
  24. If we're looking at Jacque Jones for RF, I'd rather have Kearns, who puts up better offensive numbers (over the last two seasons anyways) and save the team millions per year. Kearns also has the potential to be a whole lot better offensively. I really don't see Hendry pulling off the blockbuster for Dunn or Abreu. I didn't think there was a way in hell we pull off a Nomar deal at the deadline in 2004. Hendry is far from a genius, but I refuse to write off the possibility of a blockbuster trade at this point.
