  1. C4L hit it right on the head. 99 and 2000 were worse, but this team is worse comparative to their expectations and their payroll than maybe any Cubs team of the last 15 or so years (save perhaps 2002).
  2. Dusty won't come back, I don't think he can stand it here anymore. I just wish they'd fire him to prove a point. Which they won't.
  3. Cedeno may reach 2000 hits but he'd do it with an on-base of .305, which is the big problem here.
  4. I watch tomorrow for the first couple hours...
  5. 17 Premium pages. This is depressing. Were there boo-birds today? (I worked all day)
  6. The fans are speaking, but no one is listening.
  7. Springer got 4 for deliberately attacking Bonds with a projectile at 90+ mph, and Barrett got 10 for slugging AJP in the jaw and not even going full bore when he did it.
  8. Dempster was probably done the minute the Cubs actually gave him a multiyear deal. That's just what happens to this team. DLee breaks his wrist, Ramirez craps his way through the better part of two months, etc.
  9. With which they would select a pitcher with no control or a non-power hitter with no on-base skills
  10. Ok... You all know that I think Dusty, Jim, etc. should be gone yesterday. But at the same time, this NEVER happens to other teams. Yes, Pierre was bad last year but there is no way he should be this bad. Dempster is good for a while, we sign him to a 3 yr deal, oh look, LaTroy is back! There are bigger forces at work here than just the idiocy of Dusty and Jim.
  11. Considering Dusty and Sammy's last public conversation, I doubt this would be the case.
  12. What did he do in that AB? First pitch swinging like he preaches or base on balls which he used to do a lot? Doubled.
  13. Probably should tone it down a little...but I agree with your main points All rihgt fine. But you get the idea that Buerhle, Pierzynski, Ozzie, and their fans make you hate the team. Oh, absolutely. I was just referring to the D-word (family site). Everything else was spot-on.

The exception that proves the rule? Wallace is the best rebounder since Rodman, so I'd take a shot on him being another exception.
  15. Not a bad idea, and he's certainly loved enough in the area that it could be pulled off. I'm sure he also has at least some sort of concept of OBP's value. I'm all for anything that gets a reasonably intelligent human being in the dugout.
  16. Probably should tone it down a little...but I agree with your main points
  17. Greg Maddux deserves better than this. :( Maybe we can trade him to STL or the White Sox, then he can put up Cy Young-caliber stats the remainder of the year
  18. Not that I don't agree with you, but what does this have to do with the topic at hand?
  19. If opposing pitchers had simply not thrown Dubois any fastballs, he would've never made it out of A ball. That's probably got a lot to do with it.

Ben is a free agent and the Bulls are the leading contender to get him if Detroit doesn't re-sign him (which I think is likely).
  21. Womack coming up to the Cubs appears to be inNeiffable.
