  1. "A World War II rematch on the pitch! England vs. Germany, this Saturday!"
  2. I can live with this only if we trade Tyson. There is no reason to have two of the exact same player on this team. Exact same? Are you joking? People aren't afraid to drive on Tyson. They think twice about driving on Ben. I'll take Wallace over Tyson for his reputation alone. Ben is much better at doing what he does than Tyson, but they are the same player: defensive specialists who don't score at all, can't shoot FTs, can block shots, etc. Just because Ben is twenty times better at it than Tyson doesn't mean they aren't the same type of player.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2506311 Wow, as if the Central wasn't good enough already
  4. What's wrong with chanting at a rival's field? I didn't see any Cubs fans pulling punches when we took over Turner Field at the 2003 NLDS. So they made Wrigley Field Comerica Park South?? So what?? IN 2003, we made Turner Field Wrigley Field South. I have no problems with fans turning an enemies ballpark (other team) into their own. Or like how Milwaukee is known as Chicago north. Atlanta = Wrigley South Denver = Wrigley West Milwaukee = Wrigley North Pittsburgh = Wrigley East
  5. Vazquez isn't crappy enough or left-handed enough to shut us out, but Maddux's gopher ball will make sure we lose this one. Sox win 6-3.
  6. I can live with this only if we trade Tyson. There is no reason to have two of the exact same player on this team.
  7. He lives in Louisiana, so he may not have had access to a computer since the game.
  8. Yes! Our Angel has come to save us! *crickets* Ok, lame joke, I know, but at least there's one less 2B on the roster that we have to worry about, though I would have felt much better if it said PEREZ officially DFA. Neifi, Womack. What's the difference? Neifi's OBP:.299; Womack's OBP: .342...not sensationally better; but better anyway. Womack gets on base more than Neifi or Pierre. Neifi: 2 years 5M
  9. .629 ERA. Yep. Won't be long now. If he really has a 0.629 ERA, then I definitely want him.
  10. The game is tomorrow I hope, not today. I'd hate to be embarrassed again today.
  11. Me too. Same with Notre Dame. And the Panthers. I just want another sport to start - any sport.
  12. As a Cubs fan, I never think we're going to score unless we at least have 2nd and 3rd 1 out. And even then I am skeptical.
  13. If we got Carlos for a 3/40 type deal with a fourth year option then I wouldn't mind that much even though we'd be overpaying. But that just isn't going to happen. And people who say we need CLee because he tears up Wrigley neglect the slight point that were he to play here full time he would not get to hit against CUBS pitching at Wrigley, thereby lowering his SLG. I will say this much for him, he seems like a fun guy as he always kids around with the LF bleacher folk when he comes out in the bottom of each inning.
  14. Andy might be in NY within a year or two. When he's gone, Hendry's biggest supporter is gone. I believe Hendry will have to turn things around by next season or he'll be canned either way. The Cubs are not afraid to fire people. i hope you're right, but i'm wondering what macphail has done in chicago that other teams might admire and covet. I might be wrong, but I think goony is referring to Andy becoming commisioner. "A slip-up in the revenue sharing department has added an extra 100 million dollars to the Cubs payroll. The Cubs respond by trading Neifi and cash for A-Rod and shipping Rusch and cash for Brandon Webb."
  15. I wrote a few editorials for my paper over the last couple years and generated some pretty negatory responses.
  16. The "rest of the guys" no doubt includes Neifi at 2B and batting second, Womack (yes I know he's in AAA) at SS and Pierre in CF and leading off even though said lineup would be far from respectable.
  17. What's wrong with chanting at a rival's field? I didn't see any Cubs fans pulling punches when we took over Turner Field at the 2003 NLDS.
  18. Get Nazr Mohammed or avoid everyone. I want no part of another white stiff at C and a better version of Tyson.
  19. Thanks for taking 2006 off, Aramis. Thanks fur ruining Murton's and Prior's careers, Dusty.
  20. I'm falling too far behind.

Did Washington hire an agent? Not sure about that. Put Gerry McNamara on that list of undrafted FA's as well. McNamara is a homeless drunk's J.J. Redick. Fixed

I wish Chris Quinn would get picked by someone here late but it's not going to happen, even though he's just as good a player as Matt Carroll was and Carroll is now a good player for Charlotte.
  23. Ask Mike Remlinger if he understands them.
  24. Good news: Dusty smart enough to realize Dempster is probably a better closer than he's shown this season. Bad news: Dusty stupid enough not to realize that this is pretty much all his fault for sitting him down 6 days a week.
  25. I hope Bynum recovers and plays well for another team in 2007. More Murton plz.
