  1. Also the Padres and Mariners off the top of my head would be in the gap between the Pirates and Cubs. Probably some others too.
  2. I kind of hope the Cubs win myself.
  3. One of the best QB runs I've ever seen.
  4. I've always been a believer of Deng. Sure, he was a let down in '08-'09 (when he was unhealthy), but look at his numbers last year. He averaged 17 and 7 while shooting 38% from behind the arc. Thibodeau seems to be trying to make him more well rounded with a post up and Deng is showing he can finally finish through a foul and even draw a foul. I think Deng is going to have a very good year. And he's only 25! Sure, he's not Carmello. But he's only a tier down from him offensively and provides very good defense at a position that is going to need it in the East with Pierce, Carter, and LeBron to contend with. He shot 38% on very limited volume. Looks like Thibs is getting him to look for the 3 ball more and it's working out so far. If he could double his volume and maintain a decent percentage that'd be huge for the offense. So far the new offensive system looks like it's doing wonders for him.
  5. Their best player, Gordon Hayward, was drafted to the Jazz.
  6. Korver's playing tonight so looks like we dodged a bullet there. Team is gonna be good, can't wait for the season to start!
  7. Tonight's Miami and Orlando game cancelled because the floor was too slippery. That has to be a first.
  8. I have way too much time on my hands. The NFL Network is doing its countdown of the 100 greatest players of all time (and it's quite good...really good production values) and they're done 100-21 as listed below--the 2nd number is fan voting. I'm gonna see how many of the top 20 I can name and how close in order I get. Chances are I'm missing some leather helmet era players but whatever. 1. Jim Brown 2. Joe Montana 3. Lawrence Taylor 4. Jerry Rice 5. Johnny Unitas 6. Walter Payton 7. Sammy Baugh 8. Dick Butkus 9. Reggie White 10. Deacon Jones 11. Barry Sanders 12. Otto Graham 13. Don Hutson 14. Mean Joe Greene 15. Bronko Nagurski 16. Peyton Manning 17. Anthony Munoz 18. Ray Lewis 19. Ronnie Lott 20. Brett Favre (way too high)
  9. Adande or someone was talking about the Big 3 in Miami only having one year because he thinks a hard cap is coming in the new CBA.
  10. Would Donovan's work load really be any higher than any other player in the EPL who starts regularly on both his club and national team (assuming they qualify for major tournaments)?
  11. Interesting, but what other option do they have? The only realistic neutral site would be San Diego. Vegas. Plus I don't think it has to be all that neutral. When the Big XII title game is in KC or Dallas is anyone under the impression that it's really a neutral site? Or the Georgia Dome if say UGA or Florida is in the game? Or wherever the hell they play the ACC championship (if anyone cared). I'm pretty surprised they're going with a host and I wouldn't expect it to last.
  12. Nick Boynton isn't very good is he? He had some horrible giveaways in the Hawks zone that OT.
  13. maybe some people want to work in coal mines full of carbon monoxide too! freakin government infringing upon our rights. Well clearly, people who work in coal mines have the same career options as nfl athletes. They make about the same salary too! there's absolutely no reason to force people to make this choice. paying people relatively large salaries doesn't change the equation at all. knowingly making people make this choice is basically evil. HEY POOR PEOPLE, WANNA GET RICH? get concussions and ruin your brain for my amusement. You're saying this as if the only reason concussions are in the game is because the rules aren't tight enough or aren't enforced properly. All the rules and enforcement in the world aren't going to change the fact that you're probably going to see more concussions in American football than any other sport outside of combat sports (maybe even those too). I suppose we could abolish the sport completely or go to two hand touch/flag, that'd be a way.
  14. Saw this on RealGM and laughed my ass off. http://l.yimg.com/k/im_siggErXGnzk_Oe_31gmhgQ8Dvw---y660-x648-q75-n0/omg/us/img/24/47/4841_12858470081.jpg
  15. I seriously cannot fathom what bizarro world you live in where you cannot imagine an instance where diving to make a tackle in football may be necessary. It's pretty comical actually.
  16. Well you should dive if it's the only way to make a play. You see a receiver burning up the sidelines and a safety whose only option to push him out of bounds or tackle him is to dive and I'll show you a safety whose ass is sitting on the bench on the next drive. lol, what sport are you watching where dives are unnecessary
  17. Also, football is almost always played with forward body lean. That alone is going to put your helmet ahead of your body on a lot of plays. A lot of helmet to helmet or helmet to body contact is from using proper form and is mostly incidental.
  18. Dives, by definition, are head first. If you can show me how one would dive at a ball carrier without his head being in front of his body I'll reconsider. Maybe we can start drop kicking ball carriers.
  19. I don't ignore it. I just don't think there is a ton of black and white. The Dunta Robinson hit, for example, was firmly in the gray area if you ask me. Not ejection worthy even based on the new enforcement guidelines. It is completely unrealistic to say that you can't EVER lead with your helmet unless you want to say that you can never dive at a ball carrier to make a tackle.
  20. hahaha i read about this today. I guess they wanted the Thunder, well, wanted KD, and he said he'd only do it if thabo and nenad could be on the cover, since they're the 2 starters that never get any pub. frankly, if i was SI, i would have been like uhhh, thanks but no thanks. It's really hard to not like Durant. You'll find a way.
  21. I wonder what Bartman was thinking from whatever cave he was living in during that frame.
  22. Let us remember that there was a multi month argument between like Kyle and dex about how crappy the team was or wasn't. Plus all hope was lost after Game 3 of the SCF so let's not pretend a good stretch of dominating play is going to prevent you nutters from flying off the handle.
  23. Too late now! There was only one deadline deal and it involved the Chiefs and some other team I'm too lazy to look up.
  24. Colletti hired Little, Torre, and now Mattingly.
