  1. Wow we got Oregon to punt!
  2. SC blinked on the first drive by only getting a field goal. Oregon promptly scores a TD. Ball game.
  3. ND is losing to teams whose starters wouldn't even backups for them.
  4. The Curse of the Dead Videographer
  5. That's because Shaq only played 65-70 games each year while Durant played 82. It's a bad way of looking at it. Durant average 10.2 free throw attempts per game last year. Shaq had nine seasons where he averaged at least 10.2 free throws per game. Shaq averaged 10.5 free throws per game over his first 13 seasons. Ok. Between Kobe, Iverson, Lebron, and Wade they have never had a season where they took more free throw attempts than Durant did last year. That's 40+ seasons of NBA experience. Kobe had 1 year where he averaged 10.2 FTA a game and that was in 05-06 when he jacked up 27 field goal attempts per game (as opposed to Durant's 20.3 FGA per game last season). Iverson had a couple years where he was higher than 10.2 FTA a game but he was also playing upwards of 43 minutes a game (Durant was at 39.5) and he was jacking up 25 shots a game. MJ had 2 years in the 80s when he averaged more than 10.2 a game but he took wayyyy fewer threes (less than 1 per game), jacked up way more shots, and in an era when the pace and # of possessions were a lot higher. Now I'm looking at Lebron's #s and they are actually similar to Durant's in terms of field goal attempts, free throw attempts, and minutes. It's safe to say that Lebron and Durant are being officiated differently, justly or not, than basically any perimeter players to have ever played the game. And anecdotally, I can't believe that Durant's style of play is more conducive to drawing contact than a young MJ at his athletic and ball hogging apex, a young AI, or Lebron (althoug Bron does take a crap load of 3s).
  6. Basically the only thing you need to know is that he was in a brawl last year where he was was charged with assault and battery. Dantonio said that he was on a zero tolerance policy and had to stay away from alcohol. Months later he gets a DUI which violated his probation. Probation officer recommended 21 days in jail but he got a plea deal with an 8 day jail sentence. Apparently zero tolerance means lots of tolerance to Dantonio because the morning he got out, he was back on the field. Then Dantonio told Rucker that it's up to him whether he wants to play tomorrow or not. The kicker of it all is that he's again trying to use this move to speak to signify fighting through adversity. He keeps talking about how much harder this will be on Rucker and how this isn't the easy way out. And like NUN, he likes to say that the mistake shouldn't result in a lifetime banishment, ignoring that there's room in the middle. All of this while again trying to make himself the good guy for "being there" for his players. The only years MSU's program has done anything in the modern era are when they have steroid scandals or a coach who runs the dirtiest program in the league. Maybe if Iowa stopped hogging all the "smart, gritty" guys who "play the right way" other schools wouldn't have to resort to such underhanded tactics.
  7. Without knowing anything at all about the situation in question I'll just say I don't really have a problem with a player getting out of jail and being allowed to play right away. I thought it was pretty lame that Vick had to serve a suspension after spending 2 years in prison.
  8. No it doesn't. It just sheds some light on his very polished acting abilities.
  9. Shaq has had one year in his entire career where he's attempted more free throws than Durant did last year.
  10. There was one ridiculous play with a minute or two left where Westbrook lost control literally 10 feet away from the basket, flew into a guy in the restricted circle, and ended up shooting 2 FTs for it.
  11. At this point I'm a lone nut ranting about Kevin Durant's treatment from the refs but as OKC gets more and more national coverage it'll become apparent that he's the offensive version of Vlade Divac. KG and Phil already know what's up. OKC: 91 free throw attempts OKC's opponents: 42 free throw attempts That ain't right.
  12. I saw at least 3 or 4 fraudulent calls go against the Pistons when I turned the game on. It appears the prime directive from the league office is to put OKC on the map by giving them absolute trash calls.
  13. OKC shot 44 free throws again. Phil Jackson was totally spot on when he called Durant a good actor on the offensive end. It's shameful.
  14. lol Detroit lol
  15. Is Sabean that bad? The Zito signing was horrible, obviously. Lincecum, Posey, and Bumgarner were top 10 picks, sure, but it's not like the top 10 doesn't have a fair amount of flameouts. Hitting on three players of that caliber in a 3 year span isn't very common.
  16. I'm not going to pretend I know what those numbers even mean or how accurate they really are but I agree with the general sentiment that Noah is more than just a glorified role player. He's a borderline all-star and could really do a reasonable prime Ben Wallace impression (with better offensive skills and less shot blocking).
  17. Is there any possible way members of the Chicago Bears get denied entry to a club in Chicago if the guy at the door knows who they are?
  18. Well drop the hammer is a phrase that can be used to mean anything. I'm sure ND has the war chest to weather just about any punitive damages that are doled out and I'd be very surprised if the football program is directly harmed, nor should it, unless something really negligent comes out. So yes, in that case, it's unlikely that ND will have the hammer dropped on it in a way that will jeopardize its standing as a university or the football team. On the other hand, reflexively saying that it's nothing more than meaningless message board pounding is speculative too considering we don't know what the investigation concludes. It really seemed like you were saying there's no way anything criminally negligent happened because you sound convinced there won't even be a civil suit, let alone a criminal one.
  19. i'm not sure if something criminal happened or not. fairly sure that's why they have investigations. i'm amazed you can make that determination. oh wait, you're just speculating. nm Sounds like you're just as certain that ND isn't guilty of criminal negligence when you say that it's just meaningless message board banter to characterize it that way.

  21. It's easier to find a reasonable facsimile of Noah (although not very easy and getting harder considering how good he's gotten) than it is to find one of Melo. Not necessarily in one offseason but over a number of years when you have the draft, MLEs, other trades, etc. But we shall see, I honestly don't think scoring will be that big of a problem for this team with Boozer.
  22. Yeah, it was really obvious we were trying to run plays for Korver in the 4th quarter and OKC was ready for it. That stuff needs to be secondary action after Rose and Boozer when he gets back. But he really needs to keep playing because out of all the new guys he'll probably take the longest to incorporate well into the offense. Bogans is just a defense/spot shooter and Brewer is energy and slashing. Getting Korver involved will take repetition, practice, and game experience.
  23. Naw, I'm already calming down. Deng did a fine job on Durant for the most part. And I know everyone loves Durant but some of his acting on the offensive end is shameful. He's like the Vlade Divac of offense. He seriously charged at least 5 times in that game but only got called for 2 and 3 of them were him flailing his freakishly long body into a defender with established position.
  24. Yeah that was classic Luol. The momentum really turned on the plays where Korver passed up a corner 3 and let the shot clock expire and Deng couldn't finish on that break. Wasn't that after an in bounds play? How do you not know how much time is left on the clock? Yes, yes it was.
