  1. Yeah, Valbuena is in. Campana and Lopez look to be the first 2 call ups. With our pen, I could see Lopez and others getting moved up and down constantly.
  2. Too late for some sort of trade possibly? We are playing the Nats, I could see us still working on a Byrd deal with them.
  3. Campana's still there, in case LaHair has to go on the DL.
  4. By the way, since this thread has kind of taken over, anyone else find it mysterious as to how Hayden Simpson, who I haven't read anything positive about all offseason, has wound up in Daytona? Last I heard, he was struggling to hit 90.....
  5. I think we'll see flashes this year from Shark, but plenty of growing pains as well. With his 4 pitch mix and velo, he's certainly got a chance to be a frontline starter. That said, my guess is we'll be cautious with him and keep him in the 160ish inning area. I'm pretty sure Volstad is going to make us happy, by the way. He has "breakout" written all over him. He's at the right age to put it together and if he has a better year peripherally than last year and the other numbers catch up, I think he could wind up as having the best season out of anyone in our rotation in 2012. But I expect Garza to drop off somewhat as well, making it easier on Volstad.
  6. I'm never ready to write guys off as a starter, until they prove they can't do it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking of McCullers at 6 either, so he's probably not falling to 43. If he did though, I'd spend the extra penalty overslot cash we have to try and sign him.
  7. It's either extend him or get 2 TOR potential guys in the return and even then, you've got to hope one of Shark or Volstad develop into a frontline starter.
  8. McCullers' stat line for the year is 37.1IP, 9H, 10W, and 69K. No runs allowed against good competition.
  9. We're at Notre Dame's Pro Day today. Probably for Floyd, just in case he fell that far. I agree with Jersey, any of those 3 spots could be taken, I'll throw in OG as well as a possibility, albeit a very slight one.
  10. Before I saw it was Penalver, I thought Baez could be the 2nd guy on the list for us. Candelario is probably the guy I'm looking forward to seeing progress of anyone in our system. The plate discipline and potential power seems like the best combo we've got in our system. Obviously, it'd be phenomenal if he could stick at 3B, although it seems unlikely.
  11. If we were doing trades, I would have loved to have traded down from 21, wouldn't have cared if it was a few spots or all the way into the middle of the 2nd.
  12. Yeah, I think Vince Young had a 6, that got changed to a 7, that got changed to a 13.
  13. Morris Claiborne got a 4 on his Wonderlic. 4. My God.
  14. Raisin, you're the GM. Personally, I see some DE's I like that'll be there in the 2nd, that can be of much more use than a WR we'll find available. I like Perry a lot though, so whatever happens is fine with me.
  15. With Cain getting locked down and Hamels possibly following suit at some point, we're going to receive an absolute HAUL, if we decide to trade Garza.
  16. I'll add Golden, Easterling, Burke, and Rosario to that list.
  17. For the Bears, I agree completely with Raw. I lean towards Wright over Perry though. Don't like Martin either.
  18. The Bengals select CB Dre Kirkpatrick, from Alabama, with the 17th pick. After getting sniped on Barron.
  19. As much as I'd love Floyd to fall to the Bears, if he's sitting here, Philly is going to give him a long look.
  20. So, if he misses his pick, is one assigned or does this become a Viking situation and he starts to fall, while we pick?
  21. 3 more pitching moves today. Struck and Cabrera down to Tennessee and Simpson's starting in EXST. Yuck.
  22. I'm not changing my expectations for anyone, because I really think everyone is being held back, out of how we're handling things now. Every comment on Baez has been super positive, so I think it's just our process now.
  23. Yeah, you're up.
  24. I hate to temper your expectations, but I havr a feeling EXST is an indoctrination into the "Cubs Way" and we'll see Baez, Vogelbach, and maybe Candelario all moved up before the season starts.
