Pineda is out with Tendonitis. No idea how long, so that's one less guy for Pettitte to have to compete with. Trading away Montero probably isn't going to wind up being a great move for them.
It won't surprise me at all if Minnesota trades down from 3. I can see Miami trading ahead of Cleveland to take Tannehill. Minnesota needs a bunch and if they can add a future 1st or a 2nd and 3rd, I can see them passing on Kalil, moving back and maybe settling for Reiff or taking BPA at that point.
Short of injuries cropping up, we're going to get a top tier guy at 6. I'm glad some guys have stepped up. Buxton and Zunino is it, as far as hitting goes, but we've got Appel, Gausman, Zimmer, and Wacha, so someone's falling to us. Add in Giolito and it looks good for us, much better than it did before the season started.
Seriously, this is funny as hell. What exactly are they trying to do, if they concede the Cubs didn't know anything? Should we give them a player or two, just because we should feel bad for their luck with Carpenter? I always kind of liked the Red Sox before this mess, now I can't stand them.
Thanks UK. How high are you on Max Fried? He evidently was still hitting 92 today in the 7th inning, so his velo is coming around. We wouldn't pass up a college arm for him, would we?
I see that Marlin, over at PSD, mentioned the Twins, among others, have interest in Wells. Cleveland likes Byrd as well. For some reason, I see the deal we wind up making in a few days or sooner, is Baker for Uehara. But I do see us making a trade before the season starts, that affects our opening day roster.
Shark finished with 6IP, 3H, 1 BB, and 5K's. No runs allowed. Would love to hear velo reports, because Law quit tweeting after the 2nd. 91-93 in first, 94-96 in second.
Pretty sure I read that they're working on Maples delivery and that's why he's not pitching in games yet. If I'm wrong, whatever it was I read definitely did NOT throw up any red flags.
Worth noting, Giolito's high school coach says he's making great progress, will start throwing very soon and.could be back on the mound sometime in April.
Sweet. Let's go with college pitching........Appel, Zimmer, Wacha, and Gausman. Far ahead of every other college pitcher this year? How would you project these 4 in the future? And I might as well ask about Stroman as well. You think he can stick as a starter?
If we're hanging around, we can buy, instead of sell. May very well be the case. But, I like the fact they've stuck to their guns about not compromising the future for the present. I know it's possible to have put a better team on the field in 2012, but they want to put a perennial 90 win team out there and if they think it's better to build this way instead of adding longterm commitments immediately, I trust them.
Law was asked where in this draft does the talent take a drop and he said between 7 and 10. Sounds good to me. Really glad to see guys like Wacha and Zimmer step up to give us options. Also glad to see Marrero fading a bit from that range as well. I still kind of hope we take a shot on Giolito if he's thrown a bit before the draft.
This seems like spin control, by the Dolphins. Sorry, but I just have a very hard time believing they would release an elite receiver in his prime. I also have a very hard time believing no other teams were interested in trading for a guy like that, at a bargain price. The Dolphins have yet to do anything right this offseason, so now they're spinning this, trying to make it out that this was a great deal.
Marmol, Wood, Russell, Dolis, and Coleman have bullpen spots. Castillo is possible, depending on Mateo's MRI results. Leaves one spot for Shark, Wells, or Lopez. My guess is Shark is in rotation, Lopez is in pen, and Wells is traded.
Michael Wacha pitched a complete game 2 hitter against Pepperdine.walked zero, struck out 8. Was perfect thru 7. Catcher lost a full count K that was the first baserunner, then Wacha gave up an IF single. Last pitch hit 92. Changeup was filthy, as usual.
