  1. I'd still like to keep Okoye. Doesn't appear as if the line is a priority, so McNeill or Bell doesn't seem realistic. I do think they'll replace Omiyale with Herrera as a swingman. It'd be great to go get Andre Carter or Hawthorne, at this stage though, price must be getting lower by the day.
  2. So was Jay Jackson, who put himself back on the map for a possible callup at some point.
  3. I'd take Cleveland's 2nd and a 3rd next year. Don't see us getting a 1st honestly. I think this blows over though and he's in camp on time, in the end.
  4. For me, it's the possible adjustment period and the outlook of our team. If he needs minor league time, it's less time to get production from him. And I think we're probably 2 to 3 years away from hitting our stride, so if he IS very good, we'd only have him for a year or two, while in contention, then we'd have to pay him bigtime cash. Those extra 2 years could conceivably give us quite a few options payroll wise during that time.
  5. I'm very pleased with our 1B situation. Cespedes would have been nice, but FA after 4 years is risky. Darvish becomes an ace? Yeah, I'll regret that one. Because he's headed towards his prime years. That said, I can understand if Theo wanted to stay away from bigtime contracts until he got a better feel for what we have.
  6. Can you accept less than a 1st once someone is franchised? If so, I would definitely consider dealing him. That said he does seem to have the entire lockerrooms support. Could be a little tricky, but the bottom line is he should have accepted our previous offer.
  7. I would have liked to see us add a couple of bats here or there as well. That said, who was out there that wound up on a decent contract that would have upgraded us at a position of need?
  8. I think WR will probably be our only 1st or 2nd day pick on the offensive side. As for the Bush signing, I like it. I've been worried about a Forte holdout as it is. Now, we're OK at RB, in case he's not around.
  9. Law and Goldstein both get asked tons of Junior Lake questions and neither like him at all. After getting asked another one, I asked Law if we should be excited about Candelario, since he saw him play today. His answer was "Yes. He's pretty interesting." This may be the most praise I've seen Law give a Cub prospect ever.
  10. I think I'd rather have Wright. Glad he ran good today. I guess it's possible he could go ahead of Floyd. Who is the guy I'd want out of the 3 anyway.
  11. From everything they say, they are OK with the O Line. Think schemes with current group will be alright. With Lovie at Pro Days for both Hill and Wright, it's either an elaborate smokescreen, or we're targeting a WR opposite of Matshall. Which I'm fonr with, just would like another O Lineman to give us options.
  12. Garza is dealt right before AS break to Kansas City. Shark and Volstad post sub- 4 ERA's. Demp and Maholm do not. Wood, Rusin, and Jay Jackson all struggle in the 5th spot. Marmol is slightly better than last year. Bullpen is awful overall, with Beliveau being the only young guy that definitely looks like a keeper. Castro hits 22 homers, bats .303 for season. Soto is solid, nets us a solid return from Tampa in a deadline deal. Barney and Soriano have same season as last yeat. LaHair hits for power, but low avg/obp. Stewart misses second half, Vitters comes up and sucks. Brett and Rizzo both show quite a bit, when called up. Byrd traded for scraps in June to Atlanta. DeJesus has solid year. Final record is 69-93. Not sure what I said earlier, probably mid 70's.
  13. Sign Andre Carter. Cut Barber, Spaeth, and Spencer. Sign Wallace to frontloaded offer sheet. Draft CB, DE, and O line in rounds 2 to 4, TE and RB in 5 and 6.
  14. MlbDraftInsider's latest moch has us taking Giolito, followed by Roache with our 1st supplemental pick. Traver with the 2nd one. Two question marks, but damn, a TON of talent. I hope things fall this way.
  15. My guess is people looked at reputation and last year's bubblegum stats. If a reserve currently on the Cubs deserved to make the list, it's Jeff Baker.
  16. After Castro and Garza, who is 3rd for us? Dempster, Byrd, Marmol, or Soto? I'll be shocked if we have anyone other than Castro and Garza make the top 125.
  17. Marmol left with some sort of injury. Either arm or hand.
  18. I hope Clevenger is the backup. That's his ceiling. To me, a full time gig in AAA for Castillo, even with his at bats there already, trumps playing once or twice a week in the majors. If Soto gets hurt, then you bring him up as the starter. If Soto gets dealt, you bring him up as the starter. But give him constant PT until he's either ready to be a big league starter or is considered a longterm backup, which Clevenger already is.
  19. It isn't happening, but if we had gotten Mario and Marshall, I think both sides of the ball would have been dramatically improved. I think I would have thought we'd win the division if that was our offseason. I'm not bitching though, because I definitely think we're a playoff team right now, with things we can still do, if they pop up.
  20. It isn't a crapload, but I hate to say it's not a true commitment to winning either. Don't get me wrong, I think we've had an excellent offseason. But, Marshall's cap number could be dropped from 9 to 3, by giving him a bonus. Barber, Spencer, and Spaeth could be cut, saving close to 10 mill more. Plus, Urlacher, Peppers, or whoever else could possibly restructure. As much as I have liked our offseason, we could have added Mario, if those 3 guys were cut, or we turned Marshall's salary into a bonus. If we had added Mario and traded for Marshall, we would have went into 2012 as the favorites in the division.
  21. For some reason, I see us signing Michael Bush. RB prices have dropped considerably and he's excellent insurance for a Forte injury or if we let him walk after this upcoming season. I'd prefer adding a Hawthorne or Freeney, if released. But my guess is we keep Okoye and sign Bush.
  22. I'd rather have Wood at Iowa than in a relief role. He'll get his shot this year at some point.
  23. (After they win playoff game) Elway: I think you're an average QB. For a medium sized high school team. Tebow: God bless you. You know not of your sins and I will show you the way. Elway: No man, you really, really suck out loud. Tebow: It's OK John, I'll help you through this and we'll see the light together. Elway: Get it through your damn head, you suck. You're an embarassment to all of what is holy about football. Tebow: Yes! I got you to say holy! By the way John, God told me to tell you that you're the spawn of Mr. Ed. God will smite ye, if anything disrupts his plan for me. Whatcha gonna do when Tebowmania runs wild on you! Elway: Yeah, I'm going to piss in your face.
  24. Wow. http://thewall.com/topics/23163-tar-heels-get-bad-news-with-marshall-injury Yeah, I didn't think going in that Creighton could do anything to piss me off. I was very wrong. Thugs.
  25. Landry to the Jets, 1 year, 4 mill. That would have been worth a flyer for the Bera to take for sure.
