  1. It'll be interesting to see what Tebow brings as a return. I wouldn't think much, but I guess it's possible Miami or Jacksonville overpay.
  2. The Pats would probably use him with Gronkowski and Hernandez both on the firld somehow most of the time. And he'd probably get 5 or 6 snaps a game in some sort of wildcat formation.
  3. Wimbley is taking a visit with the Titans.
  4. Charlie Campbell's l as test mock has the Bears 5 rounds going with Coples, Massie, Givens, Minniefield, and Ladarius Green. That'd be a hell of a draft.
  5. He's mentioned him before by name though, which is why I didn't think it was him. Plus, Balaguert isn't a power guy supposedly.
  6. It happened around the eleven minute mark supposedly. It's his off hand and if there's any way he can go, he will. But, I don't see it happening.
  7. While true, I love the fact everyone has raved about Rizzo. Instead of Prince, we're going to have a very solid run producer very cheap, with money to spend on bigtime acquisitions elsewhere. With Brett looking great too, we've got lots to look forward to already, come June or so. But yes, the early returns show our front office is pretty damn good.
  8. This sucks. I was going to fly to St.Louis next weekend to watch my boys play Kansas on Sunday. Not worth doing without Kendall.
  9. I read somewhere this morning, he's really given himself a solid chance of making it. Upside is solid, since he hasn't been pitching all that long.
  10. I hope the Colts release Freeney soon.
  11. Wood will get his shot. I hope we stretch him out in AAA personally. I don't care if we use Wells as a long guy or just trade him. Wood can be our 6th starter, 7th can be Lopez or whoever. Give Rusin or Jackson a shot. Glad to see Volstad have another solid outing today. It's cool to have options.
  12. Wimbley hasn't been talked about yet. Maybe he took the weekend to figure out who he wants to visit. As for Flynn, I guess the Dolphins are going to go with Moore. Or reach like hell for Cousins or Tweeden. I honestly think Tannehill is off the board at 4 now.
  13. Shark and Volstad both have 2/3 starter potential. We need one of them to show it. If one does, the FO job just got a bit easier if we have another really solid SP, other than Garza. Our staff could quickly become a major strength, going forward.
  14. Definitely possible that Acosta could be who AZPhil was referencing the tall Latin American OF who put on a power display. It could be a guy like Helsin Martinez, who still hasn't signed anywhere either.
  15. Manningham to the Niners on a 2 year deal. Again, a great value. No idea how that happened, when Laurent Robinson can get a 5 year deal.
  16. Wow. I'm not a fan of Brandon Lloyd, but the Pats just got him for 3/12. Outstanding value for them.
  17. Shark was perfect thru 3, finished with 4IP, 3H, 1R, 0BB, and 3K.
  18. I guess it shouldn't be all that surprising that Malave isn't here, but I guess we have Rosario, Marre, and Mineo all in Boise/Mesa. On the other hand, easily the biggest surprise of any of these lists is Luis Acosta. I guess he must really have an advanced bat. Since he missed Instructs with an injury, I didn't think he had a shot of making it here without a season in the DSL.
  19. And just like that, evidently Sam Fran is now IN on Peyton.
  20. Looks like Wimbley is getting cut today. Sign him, keep Okoye. Get ready for the draft.
  21. I should have clarified better in my original post, which was to show the system IS on the rise, not standing pat. Of course, those players could take a step back and I should have mentioned that as well, but whatever those 4 guys do, it's not why this system is rising. The system is rising because of the possible addition of Soler, lots of high upside guys in the lower levels, multiple early picks, and the probable trades of some more vets for more prospects.
  22. I don't know why you would make that assumption. All four of them could easily see their prospect status drop fairly significantly this year. Vitters probably needs to take a step forward just to tread water By retaining status. I meant they will all still BE prospects, unlike Brett or Rizzo, who probably lose their eligibility. In each case, it is possible for them to take a step forward, but my guess is only Szczur and McNutt are in our top 10 next year. However, that doesn't mean Lake or Vitters don't help upgrade the overall grading of the system. They add depth at worst, ay best they both still have high ceilings.
  23. If he's having a great season, let's say a 3ish ERA, solid WHIP, solid K/9 rate, probably best case for him.....I'd still think we'd have to pay quite a bit of his contract, in order to get something solid for him. He won't net draft picks for his next team and he's pretty old as well. If there's not much else available, I could see him bringing in a borderline top 10 guy from an average system, along with a pair of top 30 types with upside. Maybe something like a Rhee, Ha, and Beeler from our system.
  24. On the rise or regression to the mean? I see a lot of mediocre. We have lots of high upside guys in the lower levels. Baez, Vogelbach, Maples, Candelario, Hernandez, Golden, Wells, all have the ability to show up on top 100 lists. Szczur, McNutt, Vitters, and Lake all will likely retain their status or possibly improve on it, by this time next year. We've added Concepcion, it's certainly possible we'll add Soler, we'll probably sell off a few more vets between now and this time next year, and we've got 4 top 70 picks in the draft, including number 6. The system is definitely on the way up.
  25. To contend NEXT season, the Cubs need Castro to keep progressing. Brett and Rizzo to both be league average guys as far as hitting goes. Stewart to show he can be as well. Garza needs to be a TOR starter and one of Shark or Volstad to develop into one as well. Then, you need to add a big bat and a TOR arm. Since I doubt all of this happens, I'll say 2014, when it's given the regime 3 offseasons to get things in place for a long run.
