  1. We have an elite QB for the first time since the league turned into what is considered a passing league. And he has shown the ability to be a 4000 yard a season passer. He can ceryainly do it in Chicago as well if he is given the weapons.
  2. What is the difference between Green Bay and Chicago, wratherwise? I don't see any myself. Rodgers is great and I'm not going to say Jay is as good as him, but if Green Bay can have that kind of passing game in cold weather, nothing is stopping the Bears from doing the same. Stupid answer from Biggs. He is trolling basically.
  3. There was never any talk of Concepcion getting 20 mill.
  4. How about some predictions? I'll say by this time next week, we will have added Robert Meachem for 5/25 with 12 guaranteed. We'll sign Ben Grubbs for 6/38 with 21 guaranteed. And we will sign Jerome Mincey for 5/35 with 18 guaranteed. Not necessarily what I went in wanting, but fairly solid. V-Jax gets the 2nd largest contract ever for a WR and the Cowboys find a way to add Mario somehow. Peyton becomes a Dolphin and the Browns get Flynn. New Orleans keeps Colston but Nicks becomes a Chief.
  5. If we did nothing else and cut a few guys and restructure a few others, then maybe.
  6. According to Michael Wright, Bears are interested in Hawthorne. I like him a lot and think he would be a nice successor to Urlacher. That said, l would prefer to after more of a true need, if we spend big on someone.
  7. Yeah, they do. Most of these guys will be signed witin a week from when it starts.
  8. My 6 guys right now would be Appel, Gausman, Zimmer, Zunino, Buxton, and Giolito. Even if he has to have TJS next season, I think his talent is worth keeping him on our list this high. Gausman and Appel are at the top for me right now, with Zunino right behind.
  9. Bears may be interested in trading for Freeney. I am OK with this assuming he would restructure. On the other hand, Pompeii raises a scenario where we may go hard after Mario and if we miss, turn our attention to V-Jax AND Mincey. As much as I like Mario, I think I would prefer option two.
  10. The extension for Sanchez amounts to almost nothing. He gains an extra couple of mill but it's mostly options and even gives them more caproom. Basically a restructure. They still aren't committed to him.
  11. If we sign Soler, the next step will be to really beef up the pitching we will have to eventually have. Which should be possible through the draft.
  12. A little info from AZPhil from yesterday: The other 2 Cubans we signed are much older. 26 and 27 actually. SS Leugim Barroso and RHP Ricardo Estevez. Estevez has to serve a 50 game suspension for PED's, by the way. Since we never heard anything about the other 2 elusive guys, this makes sense, they're org guys. Willson Contreras has been moved back to C. Delbis Arcila and Xavier Batista are back at Fitch after spending last year in the Dominican. 2 Catchers, Wilfredo Pettit and Antonio Valerio are also there. Yasiel Balaguert is assigned to Peoria, by the way. The bad news, for now anyway, is Acosta, Malave, Jeffrey Baez and Penalver are NOT here. They could still make it here in time for Extended Spring Training next month, but I guess it's possible they all stay for another season in the Dominican as well. On the other hand, Jeimer Candelario IS there and is challenging to be Peoria's starting 3B this season.
  13. LaHair needs to have the type of season he's been projected to have. Stewart needs to have the type of season he's had in the past(not last year), DeJesus needs to bounce back, Soriano needs to have a solid year, Soto does too. If Castro takes another step forward, the offense will be fine. The pen needs health from Kerry and a bounceback from Marmol. Have a few guys fit into roles, after that. Garza needs to be the same, Dempster needs to be a mid rotation guy, one of Shark or Volstad needs to take a serious step forward and be a legit 2-3 type. Not all of these WILL happen, but if most do, we'll probably be in contention come the trade deadline, since we're in a weak division.
  14. Shark has supposedly been preparing all offseason for this chance, so it looks like he's going to have to be taken seriously. In a perfect world, it'd be Maholm who missed the rotation, but if Shark continues at this pace, I guess Wood and Volstad better answer the bell too. For some reason, I've already penciled Wells into the long man role, even though I know he's got a shot as well. However, if we've got a guy who could actually turn themselves into something more than a mid rotation guy, Shark has the best chance of anyone, followed by Volstad, in my opinion.
  15. Orlandos owner is 86. Dont see him rebuilding in any way.
  16. I think Blackmon is in his own tier and at this point, I think Floyd has a tier to himself as well. I'd put Wright and Hill in a small group together(even if they're completely different players), followed by a group that includes Jeffrey, Sanu, and Randle. To me, that's where the line gets drawn. Have to add one of these guys, preferrably even if we do get a solid WR thru FA, but DEFINITELY if we don't. If we don't add one in FA, but do get one of this set of guys, I'd also want one of McNutt, Toon, Criner, Quick, Broyles, Jenkins, Marvin Jones, Streeter, Givens, or Adams.
  17. http://t.co/T4RSxbNL Oh boy, Giolito OUT for the season. Sprained UCL, 6 to 10 week recovery time. Elbow issues would certainly drop him down in the draft, maybe to the point he actually enrolls at UCLA. Because he's a top 5 guy almost definitely, if he's healthy. Roll the dice at 6? I would, but Theo has to make this pick count and I could see him wanting a little less risk involved.
  18. Sorry, but I'll take the opposite approach here. To me, I think it's great we've got a beat guy who does weekly chats. He breaks news better than anyone else for us and while some of his answers are certainly not intelligent, neither are most of his questions he's answering either. It's a 30 minute to an hour long chat and he's trying to answer as many things as he can. And there's usually a piece or two of info within his chats that make them worth reading.
  19. I don't want to spend big money on a CB. Not with us running a cover 2.
  20. I think it's 28 mill, minus the Forte tag, leaving us around 21. Rookies also have to fit in there as well. Hopefully, we cut Barber, Spaeth, and Spencer, depending on how much more cap room it'd create. Combined, they're scheduled to make 10 mill. Pittsburgh created a pretty decent amount of space, so I really think we'd have to frontload a contract for Wallace to where he's getting 12 to 15 mill in year 1. Personally, as great as Mario is, Jerome Mincey makes more sense for us. It could be possible to get him, Grubbs, and V-Jax or Wallace, if we create a tad more space.
  21. With this many WR's off the board, Wallace for our 1st doesn't sound so bad to me right now. Granted, we'd probably have to structure something that took up most of our available cap room for him. However, if you could somehow add Wallace and Grubbs through FA, then draft DE, WR, OLB or S with the 2nd and 3rd rounders, I'd still think we had a HELL of an offseason.
  22. If Garcon turned down 5/36 from Indy, I want no part of him.
  23. Down to V-Jax, Lloyd, Colston, Manningham, Mayne, Laurent Robonson, Garcon, and Meachem as far as guys with the potential to even start for us next year for WR's. With V-Jax being the ONLY one out there that I wouldn't at least want a 1st or 2nd rounder spent on WR as well to go along with him. And even then, I'd want a 3rd probably spent anyway. I'll be extremely surprised that IF V-Jax hits the market, he doesn't wind up a Redskin.
  24. Not surprisingly, Bowe was just tagged.
  25. We've been mentioned with Grubbs and I'm sure we'll get mentioned with Nicks as well too, now that he's going to hit the market. Would you rather add one of them or an OT like Gaither, Demetrius Bell, or levi Brown, who looks like he's about to get cut? And, can we make the cap work if we signed a Nicks or Grubbs AND a high profile WR as well?
