  1. What will make this even funnier is in a couple of seasons, Cherington will be here working for Theo again.
  2. I think a team with more cap room than us or a team with extremely few holes will wind up with Wallace. Tender him a contract with tons of upfront cash, to where the Steelers can't match.
  3. Had to be player for player transaction. Will be settled by April 15th, if not sooner. So the PTBNL's are truly nothing to get worked up over. Just recompensating Red Sox for having to include player.
  4. Barely top 30 guys in the Boston system. True. Forgot about that, maybe if we're lucky they'll just wait it out and take whoever we draft 6th this year. Maybe he'll fit somewhere into the back half of their top 20.
  5. I hope someone just comes out and says the PTBNL's are not impact guys or we'll be hearing Cafardo and Gammons talking about Baez. Vogelbach, Maples, etc.
  6. Why in the hell is each team getting a PTBNL? It makes no sense whatsoever to me. At any rate, I guess Carpenter's the main name. Perfectly fine with that myself. Probably a tad much in actuality, but if you had asked me back in July if I'd give up Chris Carpenter, if it meant Theo would be running the Cubs, I'd have packed his bags myself.
  7. I'm getting pretty worried it's McNutt.
  8. I have no idea why Tucker and O'Brien didn't turn pro last year. They'll both lose money now, because they have no leverage at all. O'Brien is at least a true talent. Tucker doesn't really have a position. He'll be worse off than O'Brien most likely. As far as Appel goes, he does need to start K'ing some guys. I'm hopeful that a few pitchers standout and we have some guys to choose from.
  9. Stanford Routt just signed with the Chiefs. Which means Bowe will be franchised, because Carr will be gone. Didn't expect Bowe to hit the market anyway, but this basically guarantees it.
  10. The only advantages I see available is the 5% rule. I fully expect we'll use that anyway. Which would give us an extra 400,000 to spend basically. Although it'll cost us 700,000 to do it. Only other option is find TONS of HS kids in rounds 11-40 who are willing to sign for 100,000. Which will NOT be easy to do. It's going to take time for teams to get the hang of this new stuff, hopefully our guys get an early start on most teams.
  11. Perusing RealGM, I see that a guy on the Bulls site says we're looking at Jodie Meeks, Chase Buddinger, Courtney Lee(again), Leandro Barbosa, Michael Beasley, and Anthony Morrow. I don't go to that site all that often, so can someone clue me in as to whether Ralph is an insider or not? The majority of people there listen to what he says, at any rate. Beasley and Morrow are interesting, depending on what we'd be giving up.
  12. Stevie and the Bills are evidently a ways apart on contract talks, according to PFT. The WR tender is 9.7 mill, unsure if they'd franchise him or not.
  13. That's what I thought too. Maybe we pushed them this way since we need 40 man flexibility as it is? I think Carpenter is too much, as far as what they "deserve", but if this is who goes, I'm fine with it. We've got plenty of bullpen arms and while he's talented, he's not young and his control may always be hit or miss.
  14. Obviously I agree on Forte. Knox is a 3rd/4th WR. The point though, is we have a franchise QB grouped with a skill position group that's definitely among the very worst in the NFL. Probably THE worst for a team that considers themselves a contender and possibly THE worst of any team that thinks they have a franchise QB.
  15. Whatever type of big moves we make this offseason, I didn't even include it in my own personal offseason hopes........But, we better not skimp out on a backup QB. McCown looked OK last year for us, but whatever we do, we better have him or someone better than him ready to go, if Cutler gets hurt.
  16. I think, as a rule, the Bulls are probably the most consistent team in the league. Sure, there's a day like today, but for the most part, we are pretty damn consistent. Which is why I can't really see us getting "hot" for a whole series. Thibs gets more out of us, on a daily basis, than what other coaches do. We play harder, we're not more talented. There's teams out there that I think can find another gear, at least on occasion. Unfortunately, I don't see the Bulls as one of them. Yes, it's POSSIBLE for this team to win a title. But, I don't want to get lucky, which is what it's going to take, unless we make a solid move, of which I don't even see on the radar. Which sucks. Because I don't want this wave to miss Rose. His style of play isn't very conducive to playing like this forever obviously. Part of me is already thinking ahead to when(and if) Mirotic comes over and develops into a legit 2nd option.
  17. You could be right, I just figure he'll be SO bad by then, even Reinsdorf caves.
  18. I figure Boozer gets amnestied after next season, if he's untradeable.
  19. You can say that for any team. Standing pat makes a great regular season team that does squat in the playoffs. Hey, I hope I'm wrong but would the Bulls of old win anything without Pippen? Um, did you read my post? I agreed with you. I do NOT want us to stand pat.
  20. I think we CAN beat Miami. But only if Miami is off. Sorry, I agree they're a better team than the Bulls. They can play bad and the Bulls can beat them, but if both teams are at their best, I feel Miami wins. It's why I'm not content with standing pat. I hope I'm wrong.
  21. Those guys you mentioned, Nick Struck, Antigua, Beliveau, Ha, Clevenger, Kurcz, Carpenter, Watkins, Rusin.
  22. Anyone see Chris Beck pitch? I've never seen him, but I figure him and Gausman are pretty close to what we're looking at with the 6th pick, unless Appel or Giolito falter.
  23. On the other hand, I wonder if Dempster's market would only be slightly better than this?
  24. Resign Jennings and Okoye. Extend Forte. Sign Mario,McNeill, Meachem, and Carlson. Draft Floyd, Osemele or Zeitler, Broyles, and Tim Lewis.
  25. What's sad about this is we only have 2 players on our roster(Castro and Garza) that any of us would feel comfortable with giving a contract to, that takes us into 2015.
