  1. That'd be a damn good offseason. Looking at Offensive Tackles, it's basically take one in the 1st, or add one in FA. Someone like Demetrius Bell, Marcus McNeill, or Jason Smith represents a decent upgrade for us.
  2. The Bulls are the 2nd best team in the East, if healthy. The best team is about to get better. That's really all that matters to me. Without a fluke or injury, I can't see us coming out of the East. And I think the injuries we've had, the great record(mostly against bad teams) will keep us from wanting to make any changes of consequence.
  3. The Heat are probably getting Kaman for free, that's going to make them even tougher. Bulls have got to make a solid move somehow.
  4. Goldstein was asked what the square route of Soler's eventual signing bonus is and he said somewhere between 5000 and 5500. I have little doubt we've gotten some sort of agreement with Soler, but I am worried we could lose him because it's possibly been done illegally, on some level. I hope it all gets swept underneath the rug somehow.
  5. Nevermind. Misread a post on another board and took it for something else.
  6. Be a waste of time. He's getting franchised if Houston can't work out a deal with him. I think the Bears will look at DE. Cliff Avril would be ideal. But watch out for them to make a run at Robert Mathis on a short term deal. Everything I've read says Mario is a goner. They've got cap issues, may use the franchise on Arian Foster, but Williams' tender is 21 mill. No chance they franchise him. PFT predicted today Avril would be franchised, by the way.
  7. Wonder if we're looking at Mario Williams?
  8. Ben Badler was asked by a Phils fan if they signed Soler, would he be their top prospect? He said he would, then said, "don't get your hopes up". I think we're covering this up as well as we possibly can basically.
  9. LaHair goes .272/.344/.496 for the season. He plays LF once Rizzo comes up and Soriano is DFA'd. After the season, we trade him to Tampa for Alex Cobb.
  10. Mike Wallace is a legit top 10 WR who can probably run backwards and beat Bennett in a 40. Giving up our 1st for him would mean we'd almost have to sign Bell or Gaither, if you ask me. There's probably not a good enough OT available in the 2nd we could plug in immediately. In a perfect world, we could grab V-Jax, Stevie, or Manningham, draft OT in the 1st and a WR or TE in the 2nd. But Wallace is the best WR possibly available and he's not peaked yet. If we think all these other guys are going to stay put, this is a legit play for us. Basically, the Bears better know the market.
  11. I thought the same thing when I saw the Badler tweet. As a refresher, by the way, for guys seeing the PSD references........It's Marlin Bystro that's money. He's definitely someone you can take to the bank when he says something. ABTY is an excellent poster, who probably hasn't ever broken a story. He probably has some sort of Royals scouting contacts, but his posts, while possibly helpful, certainly don't carry the same weight as Marlin's do. Who has been extremely quiet for a month or so.
  12. I think we already have a deal in place honestly. We may have to tweak it some, because numbers leaked out, but I think we'll get him. I think we signed Balaguert, Martinez, and Concepcion, who I read somewhere were all buddies of his, to help get this done. I don't see him anywhere else and the fact these reports are coming out only helps us, so we don't get in any trouble with MLB or the OFAC.
  13. Does anyone know whether we're able to roll over the cap we didn't use last year to this one? I saw on PFT today that Tampa's got 60 mill to spend somehow. Evidently, the team had to petition the NFL in order to use the extra money, from one article I read. If this is true, why hasn't it gotten more pub? We could be in much, much better shape than what we're in now, which is pretty damn good to begin with.
  14. When you say "another FA", are you talking one of the guys we've at least discussed, or just a vet like Josh Morgan or Eddie Royal? a real guy Yeah, I'd be on board with that. Out of the FA to be WR's, I guess realistically we're looking at V-Jax, Stevie, and Manningham as the top tier guys who actually hit the market, with Wayne, Garcon,Robinson and Meachem as the next group. Anyone think we'll actually see Bowe, Desean, Colston, Lloyd, or Welker hit the market?
  15. When you say "another FA", are you talking one of the guys we've at least discussed, or just a vet like Josh Morgan or Eddie Royal?
  16. Not a bad scenario. Would definitely mean WR in the 2nd or a helluva FA signed before the draft. I think we need both. Bigtime FA WR and early(1st or 2nd round) WR or TE.
  17. He was really in depth with everything. He said the 3rd, plus moving up 13 spots equaled pick 55 on the trade value chart and mentioned that was the type of offers they were getting last year for him. Said it's a year later, so they may take it now. I agree it seems a little light, but the reasoning makes some sense anyway, I suppose.
  18. Damn. He must either have some very serious injuries or an extreme attitude problem. Can't understand how this happened this quickly.
  19. A guy over at Bearreport did a mock of the Bears offseason and I figured I'd post the highlights, to get some discussion going, because it does seem possible anyway. Forte is franchised, then signed longterm. We cut Barber, Hanie, Omiyale, Adams, Spencer and Roy Williams. We resign Jennings, Okoye, Bell, Steltz, Graham, and McCown. FA sign Stevie Johnson, John Carlson, s James Sanders, OL Quinn Ojinnaka, LB Tim Shaw. Trade pick 50 and 73 for pick 63 and Osi Umenyiora. Draft Floyd at 19, draft OT Matt McCants at 63, DE Cam Johnson in the 3rd and LB Nigel Bradham in the 4th. Thoughts?
  20. At this point, looking at the cap situation of Green Bay, I don't think franchising Flynn is an option. I did see somewhere(SBNation, I think) that says the new CBA allows you to bring leftover cap money from the previous season over to this one and so on. They say KC has over 62 mill to spend this year. I haven't seen this anywhere else and I know you have to be within a certain percentage of your cap as well. If(and I doubt it's the case) this rule actually is in effect, then the Bears would probably have 35ish to spend instead of 21. On the other hand, the one thing that truly sticks out to me is Pittsburgh's cap situation. Haley coming in, new offense, horrible cap number could very well mean they'll have to let Mike Wallace go for a 1st rounder. Unsure if he can be traded for a 2013 1st or not, but it fits what they'd probably have to have anyway.
  21. I'm on my cell, so I can't post the link, but other teams cap situations are as follows: Cincy has 42 mill, Tenn 30, Wash 28, KC 27, TB 24, Atl 22, Denv 21, NE 21, SF 20, Cleve 19, Jax 15, Buff 14, Sea 11, SD 11, NO 9, Phil 9, Balt 7, Minn 6, Hous 6, Mia 6, Indy 6, GB 5, Ariz 4, STL 2, Det 200k, NYG -1.7, NYJ -5, Dall +5.9, Car -6.8, Oak -17.8, Pitt -26.8.
  22. According to Askthecommish, the Bears are 21.1 mill under the cap. 9th best in the NFL. Scary to see the Redskins have 28.6 mill to play with. I'm sure a good chunk will towards Manning or Flynn, but they've definitely got enough left over to grab whatever WR they want.
  23. If something bad happens here, I'll either blame Crane Kenney, Jim Hendry, Sammy Sosa, Bob Howry, Rafael Furcal, the dude for the Mets that hit the homer in 04, Joe Buck, Joe Morgan, Ryan Theriot, Jeromy Burnitz, John Cusack, Jim Belushi, Bernie Mac, Jeff Gordon, Peter Gammons, Nick Cafardo, Jacque Jones, Gary Scott, Wavin' Wendell, Michael Barrett, Rajon Rondo, or the Ultimate Warrior.
  24. You did. Someone posted it, because that's what was/is on Wikipedia. I'm just hoping now we can cover up whatever we've done with Soler. If we've got a deal in place an investigation could get messy for all parties involved.
  25. Jorge Angure tweeted if Cubs and Soler have a deal in place, they have to act like they don't, because it's illegal, until he's unbllocked.
