  1. I think he'll be up when we think he's ready. Same with Brett. Moves will be made to accomodate both of them, because of their importance. Perfect scenario would be getting that extra year out of it, but we're not Tampa. We're a major market team that's worried about their development, not when their service time kicks in.
  2. I chose Martin over Wilson for the Bengals. Like his pass catching ability and can at least see a possible Ray Rice type career for him. Wilson may have a bit more talent, but being in this general area, I've heard too much about his attitude problems. I think Martin has the better career.
  3. I agree with Derwood completely. Other than one thing that keeps crossing my mind: Our actual attendance, not paid attendance, could be soooo bad this year, that we legitimately may need to keep payroll down somewhat, because of it. The revenue is going to be different than in the past, because of having zero expectations. I guess we're truly counting on Rizzo and Brett to bring fans out this summer. Because if we're sitting at 35-60 around the break, who wants to go vb out to the park to see another loss? I guess I hope we're finding other revenue streams, or have already done so, because we're certainly going to need them for this year.
  4. Not necessarly. Especially with the new CBA. He's going to have to prove he's healthy and a team picking relatively high is going to want to take a chance on him, over guys who are healthy. Only other option is for a team to go out and draft a bunch of college seniors that will sign well under slot, so they can ante up and pay him with whatever they have left in their allotment budget. I don't see any team going out and losing their next 2 1sts, just to sign him to a 4 or 5 mill bonus, that winds up costing them their next couple of 1sts AND an extra 3 mill or so, on top of that. I think he'll roll the dice, go to college, and see if he can be a top 5 pick in a couple of years, instead of taking mid to late 1st slot money now.
  5. Bengals have options here for sure. As much as I want to take Brandon Taylor here for them, I'm going to go ahead and send RB Doug Martin from Boise their way. Wilson and Miller were options too and I almost passed here on a RB, thinking one of those 3 may fall to me in the 3rd.
  6. Not sure yet exactly what he's alluding to, but Chris Crawford of Mlbdraftinsider has his latest mock out and doesn't have Giolito in the 1st or supplemental round. Says he'll explain tomorrow night in his chat. My guess is Giolito has already let it be known that he's not going to sign anywhere unless he goes at a certain pick. For those that aren't familiar with Chris Crawford, he's extremely knowledgeable and also very accessible as well on Twitter. He had us getting Gausman, McCullers, and a HS C named Wyatt Matheson in his mock yesterday.
  7. It's taking a little getting used to, to have so many guys in Iowa, that are going to be contributing soon. Still hard to fathom theyVe got a full lineup of guys that will probably hit the majors within a year.
  8. I'm not worried about Vitters' power a week into the season. His power has always came in bunches as it is. If he stays healthy, I'll be surprised if he doesn't get 20 or so.
  9. It was brought up by someone, but I think it was just speculation and not necessarily discussed. I'd rather just get a prospect package at this point though, than another 4/5 type starter.
  10. I hope Soto can get it going, so we can trade him for something solid. I'm pretty sold on giving Castillo the starting gig next year.
  11. Too early for a fake rally. This is the part where we retake the lead, only to have Wood blow it in the 8th. Fake rally comes in the 9th.
  12. I just want Demp to pitch well. Finish as strong as possible, build the trade value, and if it helps the draft position, then fine.
  13. Looks like he got a 5 mill SB. Certainly was done to give us a little cap flexibility.
  14. I would have said a decent 4/5 starter, until we decided to put him in the pen. Now I guess I'm hopeful of a setup guy, not a LOOGY. Think it was too soon to give up on him as a SP though, for sure.
  15. Thompson is quick, gets a good rush against the pass, and while he doesn't sep as rate from blockers all that well yet, he pushes runners inside at least. He's strong enough to where if he makes a few adjustments, he's a bigtime steal here.
  16. I hate to say we need to wait on a WR, but there's no value there. For me, Brandon Thompson is the best value on the board and losing Okoye makes DT a position we could use. Some of the interior O Linemen are intriguing here as well, along with some of the CB's. I like Robinson, but from a pure value, I'd take Thompson.
  17. Only way I see Baez, and maybe Vogelbach not getting to Peoria before Boise's season starts, is if it's just part of our new culture.
  18. I don't think McClellin was a reach at all, he's getting mocked in the 1st by some guys now.
  19. Yesterday, Amaya was 0-1 with 3 walks, Candelario was 2-3, with a triple and a walk, Baez was 1-3 with a 2B and a SB, and Dunston Jr. was 1-2 with a walk. Concepcion threw 3 innings, gave up 2 hits, no runs or walks K'd 2, threw 27 strikes in 36 pitches with a GB to FB ratio of 2 to 5. Looks very advanced, as we've been hearing.
  20. Law said today that Smoral probably still goes top 20, even with him being out for the year. Said Giolito needs to show some health, if he gets back into the top 10. Also said Buxton looks like overall top pick, but Correa is a darkhorse candidate. Mentioned top 5 as Buxton, Appel, Zunino, Zimmer, and Correa. That'd be cool with me, since Gausman and Giolito would be on the board.
  21. I'd stick to the D. Maybe another D Lineman or DB, especially S, since you already got a CB. Kendall Reyes or Brandon Taylor make sense to me. They could also take advantage of pure value at RB too though.
  22. My guess is they want to give Wells innings and also showcase him, if possible, to teams in need of a starter already. Competition with the Nats, trying to do the same with Lannan.
  23. I want Giolito to come back, because the it basically assures us of getting him, Appel, Gausman, or Zimmer. Zunino and Buxton almost definitely go off the board before we pick. I really hope we have a shot at a Roache or Smoral at 43, since it'd give us 2 top 15ish type talents anyway. Would love to get a Traver, Underwood type HS arm with the other supp pick too.
