  1. We're a week into the season. No trade is happening this soon. Soto isn't this bad. Neither is Byrd. At the very earliest, late May could conceivably be a time when we'd start talking seriously to teams. Nothing's happening before then and even at that point, we better hope there's more than one team in need, or else it's such a buyer's market, it still doesn't make sense to make a deal anyway.
  2. The positive I'll take from this, is other than one inning, Volstad looked really solid. I'm starting to think it's very plausible for him and Shark to be longterm answers for us.
  3. There's quite a bit to like about his line.
  4. No problem man. I post from my phone a ton or I'd post more links, but we all mention AZPhil quite a bit and I certainly don't want anyone thinking I was trying to take credit for his info. He's very, very highly appreciated for all the info he brings to the table. Like I said, I figured everyone here already knows where that type of info comes from, but admittedly, I wasn't accounting for guys who may venture over here from time to time. I won't take it for granted anymore and if I can't post a link, I'll be sure to mention him, just in case someone doesn't know to go read his stuff already.
  5. Actually, he put up a .297/.388/.551 line in 215 plate appearances for Iowa last year.
  6. On Twitter, Brett gave us another reason to hope he's called up soon: The Jesus beard will be grown out. Can't have one in minors, so he's got extra motivation, to get here quick.
  7. What in the blue hell is that?
  8. I have full confidence Law does this with every team. Just part of his schtick.
  9. If he's producing like that at the ASB, you let the offers decide for you. A DLee package isn't enough to make me trade him. A package of a decent controllable major league reliever, a Chris Archer type upside guy from back when we acquired him and a top 10-12ish type from a system WOULD be enough to pull the trigger.
  10. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but LaHair could easily have more value than Lee did at that point. Being a lefty could be a positive, hypothetically being able to play LF could be a positive, he'd be younger than Lee, probably be putting up better numbers, would be much cheaper, and wouldn't be a rental. I think a DeRo type package falls below what I think he'd be worth, if he's OPSing over .800 at the ASB.
  11. His value is to an AL team. Hopefully, we bring Rizzo up and at least give LaHair some games in LF. His value is in his bat obviously, but for an AL team, he could possibly rotate between 1B, DH, and LF. His value would then be determined by how much does having a league minimum salary, .800+ OPS guy in your lineup for 2 years matter, if you're a contender?
  12. In today's "team control" and "low salary vs. production" age of baseball, I think LaHair would become great trade bait, if he shows he can sustain an .800+ OPS for us. I really don't think his age will matter all that much, because teams are going to be looking at him as a low salary guy during the next couple of seasons, which just happen to be around his "peak" years, in all likelihood. Scouts and analysts both seem to think he IS a legit player and not another Hoffpauir type. Would it be good for us to try him in LF? Sure. But, it's still not likely we're going to be contending next year, so would we REALLY want him out there for probably one season of his probable prime? I'd rather take a solid package for him at the ASB this year or over the offseason. And if he puts up over an .800 OPS, I really think we'll get one. Top 100 types? Nah, but I could see 2-3 top 15ish types from a decent system or a solid relief pitcher and a solid prospect or two. I think some people are selling short how important power production can be, especially when it's this cheap. His age doesn't matter here, a team contending now is going to look at him as a great option for a year or two, if he can remotely keep this up. And hats off to theo for trying this out, because this is exactly what he meant by trying to gain more assets. LaHair wasn't one and now he may be on his way to becoming a valuable one very quickly.
  13. Golden was put on the 7 Day DL with a knee problem and Oliver Zapata was moved up to Peoria.
  14. C.C. has that locked down. damn, that was quick dude lol. I reread it, saw that and you got in THAT quick. Damn. Hats off, my friend.
  15. Yeah, I mention AZPhil quite a bit, but usually am posting from my cell, so can't provide links. Mainly though, I've considered it a "given" that anyone reading thru the minor league threads already know that EXST stuff comes from him. We're very lucky to have access to stats that we wouldn't have otherwise.
  16. He was at 97 on pitch 140. Giolito's dad gave an OMG on Twitter, when he found out the PC. Probably puts a little doubt in anyone's mind about sending your kid to college.
  17. If he's flat out killing it, I guess I could see him going through Boise and Peoria this season. Starting at Daytona next year and seeing Tennessee midway through. Spending 2014 at Iowa and making a September cup of coffee in Chicago. Of course, a run thru our system like that would entail him becoming a top 10ish type prospect very quickly, in all likelihood.
  18. I love this, because they can't go sell off Reyes, Buehrle, or Bell. No one will take those contracts on. They'll be selling off Hanley and Johnson by midseason.
  19. The national media seems down on him, Vogelbach and all the others we left down in EXST. I can't wait until they start seeing Baez play actual games. He's definitely going to generate a lot of buzz.
  20. I'd say his ceiling now is a 7th inning guy. Not confident in that either, to be honest.
  21. Appel has thrown 150 pitches tonight. Gave up 10 hits, K'd 13. Tied at 1 after 9. Hopefully, he's not coming out for the 10th.
  22. I want Campana and Sappelt to get plenty of major league time this season. Take away Reed and one of Dewitt, Mather, or Baker to make room for them. If Byrd is dealt in May, go ahead bring those guys up to platoon for a month or so, before Brett takes over around the ASB.
  23. Rizzo needs to hit homers and run around the bases saying "I'm the Rizz and nobody beats me!"
  24. Baez has played 3 EXST games. He's 5-10 in those 3 games. With 2 400 foot homers, 2 triples, and a double. This is NOT counting him taking Maholm deep last week in an intrasquad game either.
  25. Some dude on PSD said Maples was hurt and won't be throwing until June. No comment from him other than that.
