  1. Hernandez probably needs to be given another 10 games or so and if he's not showing true progress at that point, go ahead and send him back to EXST. It just doesn't look like he's ready for full season ball right now.
  2. With the deadline to sign moving up a month, it's going to be really interesting seeing how teams handle the pitchers.
  3. I've read that Reiff is the guy analysts like a hell of a lot more than teams do. That he could fall out of the first round altogether.
  4. Hopefully by the middle of the season, Soto is putting up a .330 or higher OBP with double digit homers. If he is, we will get a damn good return for him.
  5. Lol. Oh well, I take it as a positive if he took 4 straight then. Seriously though, if we're changing his approach, this season will be interesting. My guess is we won't see a power surge from him until the second half.
  6. Hoyer said Cubs have a list of pitchers to choose the PTBNL from and will pick by the middle of May. Oh well, it's not someone drafted last year, because of the date mentioned.
  7. Probably as good of news as anything we'll get on the minor league front tonight. He's still got plenty of time for things to click.
  8. Cut the time down to 12 hours is my pick. If there's enough interest, I wouldn't mind having some sort of contest with people doing first round mocks.
  9. First off, I'll say Marlon Byrd was a good Cub and a class act. That said, it's been a struggle recently and at his age, getting a good return was not a possibility. I would like to think by paying most of his contract, we'll get more than a guy Boston was going to DFA. Either way, it opens up an OF spot. First for Campana to start now and for Brett in due time. Plus, an injury now will bring Sappelt up, which is also a plus. Showtome for these guys who may have a future with us and it rids us of someone who didn't.
  10. My guess is the PTBNL is someone from the last draft.
  11. Looks like it's Bowden and a PTBNL. Awesome news, since we'll now have something hanging over their heads now. I hope it's from a group of upside guys anyway.
  12. Oh and I'm thinking Baez may be injured. Pretty sure he's played at some point though.
  13. Kim was given an 850K bonus. Worked 90-92, if I remember correctly, with excellent control. Unsure what his repertoire is, but he's not taken a step forward since coming to the US. Most interesting thing about him is he was a HS teammate of Hyuk Sung Han, who signed with Boras, but never signed with a team.
  14. How far will Alonzo Dennard fall in the real draft after assaulting a cop last night?
  15. Thanks Toonster. I knew you were pretty high on him when we drafted him and we threw a pretty solid overslot at him. My guess is he'll spend a good bit of this season at Daytona, if he keeps this up obviously. He's considered more of a pen arm, than a long-term starter, isn't he? Or I had thought that to be the case, for some reason?
  16. What is Jensen's repertoire at this point and what's his velo sitting at?
  17. As bad as he has been, it doesn't make sense to deal him unless the prospect has a upside.
  18. Oh yeah, he's their biggest whiner. But, this type of move wouldn't surprise me in the least. I'd rather receive a prospect or two, but my gut tells me this is for a relief pitcher.
  19. My guess is Bowden is the return and we pay most of Byrd's deal.
  20. Torreyes only has 39 at bats so far. He's going to be fine.
  21. Torreyes is 3-3, with 2 doubles, a triple, a walk, and a HBP.
  22. Kirk and Raley have both had excellent outings.
  23. I know he's not hitting yet in Peoria, but if someone pushes Castro off SS, it's probably going to be Hernandez.
  24. I can see it go either way. Sounds like he has the tools to be solid at 2nd, but the dearth of 3rd base talent in the system, assuming he can't stick at short, makes me want to send him that way. But sure, 2nd makes some sense. A lot may depend a bit on what happens with Castro. I imagine Castro's sticking at short for the next couple of years, though. What would make it even more interesting is if we draft Correa.
  25. On cell, can't post link but Sun Times says Castro will NOT be charged.
