  2. Paul Martin to Pitt, per Bob McKenzie on Twitter
  3. better Leighton than Turco at 2-3x the price, that's for sure
  4. wow they're going to have such a deadly PP with Karlsson and Gonchar on the point
  5. http://i50.tinypic.com/vgpufs.jpg
  6. Lundqvist Rask Halak Vokoun Bryzgalov and maybe Hiller are guys i probably like better than Nabokov and Luongo
  7. i wouldn't be too shocked to see Soriano moved to 1B to make room for Colvin only, the terrifying aspect of that is the assumption management would have that he could never make the switch back to the OF in the future
  8. if he finishes the no-hitter, he'll definitely be over 150 pitches, just insane
  9. he totaled ~18 wins in value over 6 seasons, with his worst two years being only slightly below average as a player i don't know how i can phrase that for you without getting caught in a fruitless semantics argument, but nonetheless it's more than fair to call him a consistent 3-win player
  10. But again, it's not that he gave up future hall of famers. He gave up valuable trade pieces for a useless player. he was a consistent 3 win player, far from useless
  11. Nolasco...hasn't been all that great, and Pierre's comp pick helped us get Harden that trade, and even more so Pierre's tenure, has been so stupidly sensationalized
  12. has there ever been a single player who has succeeded in the majors despite a complete inability to control the strike zone in the early levels of the minors for such a prolonged period of time? i can't think of a single flattering player comparison to make for Vitters, statistically. there's no precedent.
  13. Colvin strikes out more often than even Dunn, Pena and Branyan but doesn't walk so it's probably gonna get pretty ugly when his HR/FB (2nd highest in the league) and unsustainable BABIP come crashing to earth i'm not rooting against the guys i listed, just saying i don't have hope for them anymore
  14. You can't possibly be serious. Concerns? Yes. Completely writing them off? Definitely not.Vitters completely doesn't walk whatsoever, and doesn't make enough good contact to even remotely justify that at all. oh, and he can't field. what's replacement level hitting for a bad fielding MLB first baseman, 750-800 OPS? yeah, i'll take the under. look at Burke's last 5 seasons and tell me what doesn't fit. you guys act like there are hordes of productive ballplayers that sucked in the minors for a long time until their tools somehow magically materialized one day, but that doesn't really ever happen.
  15. he threw an 89 mph change to McCutchen and the announcer said "fastball right by him" yeah, maybe for a mere mortal
  16. you could argue Soto deserves to be Olivo's backup at C
  17. stick a fork in 'em: prospects i have zero hope left for vitters burke lake
  18. Pronger committed a penalty? impossible
  19. Why? Yeah for real. I hope he strikes out all 27 batters on 3 pitches each. Here's a thought... of all the pitchers out there today, would it be safe to say that Strasburg represents the best chance for a pitcher to match and/or surpass the 20K in a single game mark at some point in his career? i think Scherzer could, if he were more economical it'd be interesting to see what our closer could do K-wise with 7 or 8 innings of work, not that i'm necessarily advocating that
  20. WIETERS?!?!?
  21. so i'm in a dynasty league (5x5 + OBP, SLG, hitters K, pitchers L) and somebody actually accepted a Sandoval for Derek Holland swap. it's a pretty shallow league, so there's quite a bit of good quality pitching still in FA (Scherzer, Cueto, Chacin, Marcum, Cecil, Bumgarner). but for 3B, the best available players are Reynolds (unplayable b/c of K, BA, OBP), Freese, Beltre, Walker. note: Sandoval was the best 3B in the game last year under these settings. Bad Trade, or Worst Trade?
