    This just had the feeling of one of these games. Can't add on, give up lead late, lose. Would be great to avoid that last part.

    Sure, but BB% is always going to go up as stuff diminishes. Necessarily playing at the edges of the zone because you a are throwing 92 instead of 96 is one factor.

    Yeah, hoping Ben Brown takes the next step here. He's got the ceiling they desperately need.

    I won't complain that Miggy isn't in there, because Kelly is the mayor right now, but Amaya hasn't missed a step moving into the regular season. Variance getting him a bit, but the PAs look good. I really think there's a 125 wRC bat there and would hate for him to lose too much momentum.

    Would love to see the bullpen lock this down with minimal trouble.

    No, not really. I'd like to see him in match-up situations in the 6th or 7th.

    And when that 4-seamer is 96-98, the combo is devastating.

    What I don't love about analyzing relievers with those metrics, just like any other, is that the small sample size makes them noisy. If there's a week in which a reliever happens to face 10 struggling hitters, and 8 of them are susceptible to the 4-seamers up in the zone, it can appear to create patterns in the pitcher's season that aren't really there.

    Doesn't need to save the pen but he struck out 37% of hitters and walked 8.5%. It's not like we don't have room for that.

    Neely had a 14 K/9 with a good BB rate.

    Where's Jack Neely? He was elite last year in AAA and throws 97.

    You have to have absolutely elite secondaries to get away with a 92 mph fastball.
