  1. Ramirez is not untouchable, if a reasonable replacement can be found. He has the ability to opt out of his contract after this season, and he is one of the more valuable trading chips we have right now. I wouldn't look to deal him, but I would certainly listen to any offers that came in. I stated before this season that the only untouchables I saw on this team were Zambrano and Prior (when we thought he was healthy). I have revisited that stance, and I now see nobody as untouchable. Once again, I wouldn't actively shop some of them, but I would listen to offers.
  2. Looks like "no" to the OF question. Oh sure, I see that now. I'd still take him.
  3. What would be the cost, and can he eventually play OF? Edit: PS - count me in as one who is extremely interested
  4. I'll raise my Bud Select to the start of summer and eventually college football.
  5. How are Murton and Cedeno different than the vast majority of athletes in every sport? They are not going to peak at 24 or 25 in their 1st or 2nd year in the big leagues.
  6. They've only given up 300 hits because they're too busy walking everyone else. I refuse to see that as a good sign yet. However, they should take a page from every other team's book in that by not walking so many, you just might put yourself in better shape to win. We just had another masterful 2-hit performance against "some guy". Once in a while against a good pitcher is fine, but it's happening against the likes of Chan Ho Park and Clay Hensley. The major difference is, the other teams are patient and taking walks while our pitchers are nibbling and being cute. They are attacking our hitters (using the law of averages that more than 70% of the time, a player will make an out).
  7. Hector Villanueva's Pants have been soiled. Nobody watches Sox games. Nobody.
  8. Wouldn't that line put him as one of the more productive hitters in the lineup? :(

  10. I hope Nomar hits .486 this year with 79 HRs. I wanted him back.
  11. After today's "performance" it may take more than Rusch. We may have to throw in Neifi. Fair enough, but they better throw in some cash.
  12. They may cancel the season before the 17th. They should.
  13. Whatever, troll.
  14. We won't need one of those. That would actually help the team. You know we can't be having that. :( I could be the bunting coach. I admire the dedication. I'll pencil you in as bullpen coach or something.
  15. I won't lie -- I have a Cubs-induced headache right now.
  16. Why? Just because Ozzie played for the Sox doesn't mean that's the answer. Francona didn't bleed Red. McKeon might be an old dude but he didn't win because of his knowledge of South Florida history. Same with Brenly in Arizona. Saying the Cubs need a manager that understands Chicago and the history is absolutely ludicrous. I know the history -- we've sucked more or less for a century. Where do I sign? Send me a finder's fee and I'll see who i can talk to. Finder's fee? You're my bench coach. Can I bee the pitching coach? I can wear out arms like the best of them. Or the hitting coach? I'm sure I can figure out a way for the Cubs to swing and miss much more gracefully. Sure thing, no interviews or applications accepted. First come, first served.

  19. Thank the good lord for Rusch. Without him, we might actually be winning this game or something.
  20. this is the guy that's in charge? It's almost as though he's trying to get fired. Edit: I just remembered Costanza wearing the Babe's uniform and dragging the WS trophy around the parking lot trying to get fired.
  21. Don't neglect Len and Bob. Yes, but neither of them feel physical pain like Ronny does when the team blows. And Pat has to put up with him.
  22. I hope Dusty screws up a double switch today.
  23. I would be in favor of seeing if the Cardinals would accept a trade of our entire roster minus Murton and Cedeno for Pujols. We need to play for the future. Why would they want this crap?
