  1. Who is your source? Why wouldn't a club offer him a 2 or 3 year deal now that he's surgically repaired and rehabilitated? If he shows improvement and stays healthy over the next few months, there will be teams interested. Hendry already took the big risk -- it's nowhere near as great when planning for '07.
  2. They'll be OK if the defense can improve week-to-week. They've lost 6 really good linemen/linebackers in the past 2 seasons and are very young there. Today was definitely ugly, and I don't expect it to be the norm. They've struggled like crazy in September for the past few seasons for whatever reason and turned it on when it mattered. They'll have a really good run if they beat Iowa State next week.
  3. Remember when they said he'd be ready by mid-May?............. Hey at least we got him for the stretch run We're 3.5 games behind Kansas City. Miller can help make up ground. :D Stupid D-Rays killed Steve Irwin and now they're threatening to take our draft pick! I say we dedicate the rest of the season to Steve Irwin, we will have the highest draft pick! A sting ray killed Steve Irwin. Not a devil ray. A STING, ray. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=define%3Ajoke&btnG=Search
  4. Extremely important point.
  5. Aww, I've missed CubfaninCA. Can we attack banned posters?
  6. We were just messing around. your backup QB is awful He's really not that bad. He just had a horrible, horrible game. I really wanted to see Christensen after the first couple of INTs.
  7. We were just messing around.
  8. Not looking good for the Illini.
  9. Ditka's uglier too.
  10. Perfect game from Wade Miller broken up in the 2nd. Cubs lose, 198-2.

  12. Who says he's not fast? He's been successful in 83% of his stolen base attempts (5/6). In all honesty, he reminded me a little of Moises the other night when stealing 2nd. He may not be the speedster that Pierre is, but he picks the right moments and gets great jumps. I didn't say that correctly. He's not "fast" in the sterotypical I'm Dusty Baker or Joe Morgan and I haven't learned a single thing about baseball since 1974 mold. I know -- I was just busting your chops. I agree with you.
  13. Sorry, couldn't make sense of it. What's that 2nd line say?

  15. Thanks, Raisin. I knew there was a thread, but I couldn't find it after a very brief search. I have a feeling Cedeno and Dopirak will be traded. Novoa was more wishful thinking.
  16. Cub fans were doubting Woods health in March Tell me how is that hindsight? And a lot were not doubting his health in March. With no setbacks in his rehab, he should have been back by May 1 at the latest. Hendry should have had a stronger plan, but there were also no strong indications that we would see the Prior that we saw and Williams would completely lose everything he ever had. Things didn't look anywhere near this bad in March.
  17. No, you don't make a decision on 3 AB's -- you make a decision on a full year of lackluster play. Play that was getting progressively worse. If DLee starts a tailspin in his career that results in him playing like Dmitri, then I have no problem with him being pulled for a PH. Unless the only option is Buck Coats.
  18. David Aardsma Ryan Dempster Scott Eyre Angel Guzman Adam Harben Rich Hill Bob Howry Carlos Marmol Sean Marshall Juan Mateo Wade Miller Roberto Novoa Ryan O'Malley Will Ohman Mark Prior Glendon Rusch Jae Kuk Ryu Les Walrond Kerry Wood Michael Wuertz Carlos Zambrano Michael Barrett Henry Blanco Jose Reyes Geovany Soto Ronny Cedeno Brian Dopirak Cesar Izturis Derrek Lee Scott Moore Aramis Ramirez Ryan Theriot Freddie Bynum Buck Coats Jacque Jones John Mabry Matt Murton Miguel Negron Angel Pagan Felix Pie Juan Pierre The above is the current 40-man roster which has 41 names when including Kerry Wood. I've bolded those that I expect to be left unprotected, departing via FA, or traded/released over the course of the winter. If my picks are right (and I know they won't be), that's 11 spots that will open up and put us at 30 (I am also assuming Wood is brought back). Who are some of those from within our organization that need to be protected this offseason?
  19. Despite what they're saying, I don't think it was solely performance related. The guy was hitting 3rd in the lineup yesterday and got yanked in the 8th with the tying runs on base for a PH. That's a little odd to me. He was 0-3 with 2 Ks. The only odd part was batting him 3rd.
  20. After seeing Marco here in Peoria, I can tell you that MWL guys were hitting at will against him, pretty well. He may just need some experience, but it didn't look good. It was only 3 innings after being very successful in AZ.
  21. Huh? Defensively. Strong up the middle defense. Offensively? We have another story. In other words, an area where we need help.
