    This article is basically: - The Cardinals threw at the Cubs and Joe got mad - Two baseball teams of different talent levels played baseball games for two years - The more talented baseball team won a significant amount more baseball games - The writer asserts that the more talented team is not actually better at playing baseball, but rather better at playing MIND baseball against one particular team I mostly got a validation that Matheny is dumb and Joe played him like a fiddle.

    The Cardinals playoff chances and the number of posts in each game thread followed the same trajectory: Friday: 308 Saturday: 91 Sunday: 44 well on sunday they were probably watching their football team...oh nm Eh, that's one area I won't hit them on for. They did everything right and the NFL had it in for the city. You can see how much support those idiots have in LA and the guys running the show are a bunch of lying scum with no souls.

    Can't the team essentially pay him whatever they want after that first year? Bryant is getting a lot more than he has to and it's a series of one year contracts even before arbitration right? I don't see why the team wouldn't be allowed to deem him valuable in their eyes and give him significant raises each year after the first.

    I've watched the replay a bunch of times and it really just looks like a rookie backup catcher got crossed up. He is expecting the ball to break to his right and the ball just keeps going straight.

    I watched the game yesterday with a buddy who's a Cards fan and he can't stand McCarver either. I catch a decent number of their games and all of the color guys are various levels of awful with the exception of Edmonds. He's decent but needs some more polish to really be good.

    Raw, that ball got tipped before it ever got to Cohen. It would have been a ridiculous catch had he made it. The rest of that post is pretty sad though.

    Not as bad as it used to be and this isn't a full tear, but it's still not going to be an easy road back, especially since the rotator cuff is torn as well. I'd bet he misses most if not all of next year.

    There is absolutely 0% of me that sides with "screw them, they suck and don't deserve it." Yeah, that's an absolutely terrible position to take. There's nothing anyone on this team has done (besides Russell probably) to make me even remotely feel any animosity toward them. They're a good bunch of guys that are just not playing very good baseball right now.

    Assuming they get in this year, this will be the Cubs 9th playoff appearance in my lifetime and I actually remember all of them. 8 playoff appearances in 20 years would be 7th most in MLB during that time. Angels could tie the cubs for 7th if they win the wild card. This would only be 7 in the last 20 years. 84, 89, 98, 03, 07, 08, 15, 16, 17.

    Before last season, anytime I wanted to feel pity about the Cubs history, I remembered that its still better than the White Sox, who have never in their history made the playoffs in consecutive years and only 9 times total in 116 seasons. This might/will be 19 for the Cubs since 1901 Assuming they get in this year, this will be the Cubs 9th playoff appearance in my lifetime and I actually remember all of them.
