  1. So you don’t think last year’s .368 babip is sustainable? Eh, based on the Cards propensity for giving undeserved deals to pre-arb guys, I can understand him being a little ticked after 6 WAR season. Especially at the same time they just gave Dejong and his 30% K rate a big deal. Also, if I was a Cards fan, I'd be much more concerned about him going blind again than I would be his BABIP.
  2. Nah Really Penn State guy?

  4. Surprisingly, very close twice in my lifetime. '84-'93 they were 805-808 and '00-'09 they were 807-811. I found one from '67-'76 where they went 808-803.
  5. I honestly had the thought that I should probably do that right after I posted, but decided I’d rather gross people out instead. Mission accomplished!
  6. What in the holy hell is going on here? Mod edit: Spoilerized because NSFL
  7. The fact that these guys are brilliant baseball minds but are actual, real human beings with personalities and not robots (sorry David) makes them so much better.
  8. Illinois has played terribly tonight, but college basketball officiating is such an awful, awful joke.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. TT, what’s your rationale for thinking the Cubs want to replace Jake’s star power? That seems like an arbitrary thing that this front office wouldn’t get caught up in.
  11. Easily Darvish. And when you add in the likely draft pick from Jake signing elsewhere, it’s even more of a no brainer.
  12. This is pretty much where I am. Unless someone overwhelms them with an offer for one of the young guys, I’m comfortable going into the season with that roster.
  13. That’s what I used to go with lefty.
  14. He had to have TJS or some sort of surgery and I think he’s going to be out for the entire year. Hard pass for me, if we are going to do the 2 year sign and stash thing for a guy Pineda would be my target since it’s possible he’s a rotation option 2nd half this coming year and certainly ready for a rotation spot come 2019. Rosenthal should be ready in August or thereabouts. He's a pretty solid option when Matheny isn't in charge of a pen and pitching the exact same guys every day.
  15. The longer Levine tweet about this is barely English. Yikes.
  16. Hahahahahahah! Him taking that seriously is peak Bum. My god he's dense.
  17. That’s dumb. Eduardo Perez explained exactly what he was doing.
  18. Their idiot manager needs to put Pujols in like the 7 or 8 hole but you just know there's no way he does it.
  19. McGee 10 years out from TJS is not appealing to me. Even with reduced usage as a reliever, he's essentially a ticking time bomb isn't he?
  20. Bigger moron: Plaschke or Nightengale? The former is the epitome of old man yells at cloud but the latter is such a jock sniffing turd.
  21. I like the hire even more now that I heard Chili Davis called St. Louis a cow town back in the day.
  22. Who would be the option if Hickey for whatever reason chose the Giants? Lilliquist, maybe Rothschild with Girardi gone, Frank Viola, and Righetti off the top of my head I'd be shocked if Lilliquist was even on the list based on the stories I'm hearing down here about the lack of analytics usage in his preparation of pitchers for starts.
  23. Nightengale's defense of Dusty is really weirdly obsessive. That guy is such a jock sniffing moron.
  24. I don't know what this means or who Theo is talking about... Is he talking about Almora and/or Happ? Maybe even one of Schwarber, Baez or Russell? I'm most curious about this comment, but I doubt we'll get clarification on it. Maybe some rumor/info will come out at the winter meetings. I'm guessing that he's willing to trade any of those for the right trade, but I'd be very surprised if they trade Russell or Schwarber. Otherwise, I do think they re-sign Rivera. I personally think he's a better choice as a back-up catcher then using Caratini. I also think using Caratini as the back-up isn't really maximizing his potential value to the team, and is better off used in a trade. Is that because you think some second division team will like him as a starter and we obviously don't need him for that?
  25. Good gracious. Setting aside the terribly unfocused narrative here, he mentions trading 1) Russell at all and 2) Baez OR Russell as if the two were interchangeable, almost ancillary parts of this team. Cameron beings the quality of the Fangraphs staff down a huge amount on his own He was on with Bernstein and Goff the other day and was saying innumerable dumb things, the worst of which was him talking about recency bias when discussing using Duensing instead of Wilson i the playoffs. Idiot.
