    NFL Week 5

My favorite part is that they're all so stupid and full of hate that they don't understand Puerto Ricans are American citizens.

You're arguing a point he didn't make. Regardless of draft status, all 3 of those players were available to any team in the league for just money and the 2 draft picks signed for a combined $4.3 million. They're having success because the Dallas o-line is very good. Also, perhaps the rushing offense wasn't good last year because their QB was hurt and didn't play in over half their games and they ran a sub replacement level backup out there so other teams were able to stack the box against the run? Or maybe they threw the ball all the time because they were constantly behind because they has a backup QB playing?
  3. It almost feels like that was a move to make sure Horton wasn't pushing to pitch before he was ready and I also think there was some thought to innings needed in the final few games against the Cards so they had the arms available they wanted to for the WC round.
  4. The Brewers put an incredible number of balls in play compared to most teams because they don't strike out much and don't hit a lot of homers. You also probably don't close that game out like they did last night if Shaw isn't playing 3rd. I don't think anybody else on the roster gets that 2nd out in the 9th on the slow hopper.

I agree that going for it was fine as well, but running the ball up the middle and not letting your future HoF QB have the ball in his hands was really the issue I had with it. I get the thought process of wanting to bleed the clock more so the other team can't score again if you do eventually kick the FG or winning outright with a TD, but that play call was questionable at best.
  6. I assume this is referencing the fact that the Yankees are the first team to win the 3 game series after losing the first game?
  7. I would bet they swap a position player for a pitcher with the longer series and unless there's a surprise, I assume it's probably Assad that gets added unless they know Horton will be available for a game.
  8. Yeah, this is pretty much where I am. This team really limped to the finish (although so did a few other teams the last month or so) and not being anywhere near full strength has really reduced the level of expectations I had for them.
  9. They did and Cade Horton had a freak injury 2 weeks ago that cost them their best pitcher. Not much they can do about that, especially when they managed his workload like they did so he would be available in the playoffs.
  10. First, his name is Shota. You've gotten that wrong in like 20 consecutive posts. I've hated almost everything Counsell has done today. Kittredge facing the same part of the lineup he did yesterday was my beef there, not the use of an opener. Letting Shota face Machado instead of a walk or a reliever was inexcusable. There are literally 2 guys in their lineup who hurt LHP and you waved the white flag with one of them up. The Happ thing wasn't a choice because of the Tucker injury, but his history against Cease would have certainly warranted a start for Mo, not his overall performance as a top 10 LF in the game for the last 7-8 years, in spite of what some of the idiots here who love bunts may say.
  11. I think that drifted more toward center as it got out there and if it was a non-windy day it wouldn't have looked as weird.
  12. This was exactly where I was. I didn't like that he faced 2 of those guys yesterday.
  13. I think you have to start Shota given the ceiling and how much worse the Padres are against LHP.
  14. That doesn't feel that unusual when teams have their aces lined up.
  15. Man, Boyd wiggling out of that jam early was just absolutely huge.
  16. The only bunt attempt he made all year ended in disaster, so no. He also hit that ball almost 101 mph, so he put a good swing on it.
  17. Also, Tucker is back to yanking everything to first base again like he was when he was cold. I know they'll never do it, but I wouldn't be mad if Mo was in there instead tomorrow.
  18. Let's give Pivetta some credit here. He's painting the edges and the top of the zone. Outside of PCA, he's not making guys look bad, he's just making really good pitcher's pitches.
  19. That was me. Civale was a starter all year before he got to the Cubs and has been for a while so I don't think Soroka has any real leg up for that reason. Now, he's probably a better pitcher overall, so I don't have any objection to that route either. I just figured Soroka was more trustworthy later in a game and was probably better suited to higher leverage use.
  20. I wouldn't be terribly upset to see them start Civale tomorrow as an opener for Shota so you can get some length out of him with only facing Tatis and Machado twice.
  21. Yeah, @Brandon Glick where you at?
  22. Definitely isn't going to be Assad. He threw like 80 pitches Sunday and I'll be a little surprised if he's even on the roster considering he's a maybe to be available on Thursday.
  23. I already said that Ding Dong! 😜
  24. I'd rather have Boog and Doug but not getting stuck with Ravech and company is fantastic. Probably got the second best crew in my opinion.
