  1. On the other hand, meaningful games in December is a nice change of pace from most of the last 15 years.
  2. Yeah, the deferred money staying with LA would make that much more palatable for sure, which was the crux of my post. The AAV isn't bad at all if you remove the deferrals.
  3. You'd rather send a worse hitter out there every day? Weird take for a team you're a fan of.
  4. Him signing with the Dodgers after already having been on the team is a pretty good indication he wanted to stay there, regardless of interest from other teams. Assuming this is accurate, I think the practicality of this option depends a lot on how the deferred money would be handled, especially since the Cubs just don't do that. Annual salary breakdown: 2025: $10 million ($7.5 million deferred) 2026: $12 million ($8 million deferred) 2027: $14.5 million ($8 million deferred) 2028: Club option for $15 million with a $6.5 million buyout
  5. To put Seiya in RF and have another very good bat in the lineup. This isn't complicated. Seiya isn't a great fielder, but he's not near the butcher a lot of people make him out to be.
  6. I actually watched the 4th quarter last night since they were on national TV and besides the complete and total lack of defense in the NBA in general, the Bulls inability to handle the pick and roll is an abomination. Orlando got to the rim with ease every single time they ran one.
  7. On the contrary, I bet all his victims are people who don't return their carts.
  8. Just show him some of Trump's tweets about Chicago. 😜
  9. The thing is that there are essentially zero long term commitments at this point. Another 4 years of Dansby and then everyone else is gone after 2026 so there's a natural reset even if the structure of the CBA remains similar to what's in place now. They're only locked into $31.5 million for 2027 right now, so the pattern of not going over 2 years in a row would be easy to stick to even with a couple big long term deals because Shota, Taillon, Boyd, Happ, Suzuki, and Nico are all off the books after 2026.
  10. Anybody have thoughts on promising targets from this list?
  11. Is there any reason Benedet can't slide inside? Seems like he's an ideal fit inside with the strong run blocking, solidness against the bull rushes and struggle with the quick moves from DE.
  12. Fun game between Illinois and Texas Tech last night. Possibly the softest flagrant foul I've ever seen was called in the last 30 seconds against Illinois but fortunately they were able to overcome that and hang on. If that call is the new standard for a flagrant, it's going to be a long season in the B1G.
  13. I'll feel a lot better about this game if TJ Edwards is healthy. The defense is much worse with Sewell in the middle and that missed tackle damn near cost them the game last week.
  14. That may have been the sloppiest final 3 minutes of an NFL game involving good teams I've ever seen. I have no idea what Philly was doing throwing the ball twice before the 2 minute warning and allowing the Packers to keep 2 TOs and then whatever they did after getting the ball back was ridiculous as well. Packers execution was just awful in the last 2 minutes as well.
  15. I thought that should have been PI as well. It felt like overall, there were a lot less flags this week across the league than there have been recently. I almost wonder if there was a memo to call fewer penalties.
  16. The thing that really stands out about Burden to me is how strong he is for his size. He's listed at 6' 210 and that checks out based on the combine stats but he really runs through tacklers.
  17. What if you're paying $22.75 million to your 1 and 4 starters combined?
  18. I think this is what the plan is. He serves as a swingman/injury insurance until Steele is back and once that happens, you can make some other decisions dependent on health. As Bertz points out, getting through the season with less than 8 guys starting games is pretty unlikely and having Rea in the fold as a reliable fall back option is a nice insurance policy even with 2 more guys added to the rotation.
  19. Jesus. That's a very different story than I thought would come out based on the Schefter report I saw earlier this morning.
  20. Brilliant use of social media by the Bears to put out a 2 minute video of Rome making great blocks and getting big kudos for doing so during the game.
  21. I think this has zero effect on the rotation plans. He's a depth piece that will pitch out of the pen and can slide into the rotation as needed if there are injuries or ineffectiveness.
  22. I was 100% certain as a traumatized Bears fan that the DJ TD was going to be a touchback even though there was no evidence it was anything but a TD.
  23. That was way more OPI than the garbage call against Loveland a couple weeks ago.
  24. I guess you're the expert.
  25. There was a different angle I saw that showed a clear push in the back. None of those angles showed it. And as gflore said, there's no way Wright goes flying like that without help.
