  1. That ball flattened out after it hit the dirt. I can't really blame him for not picking it.
  2. Steele isn't going to be a rotation fixture until probably July, so I wouldn't bake him into your plans. And that's if he comes back full strength.
  3. He's hit 9 balls this year that would have been homers at Yankee Stadium and were outs, doubles, or triples. That's always a factor when the Yankees go get a lefty hitter.
  4. I think Ryan is the most realistic target that would get that automatic grade from me. I could probably be talked into Clase doing the trick as well.
  5. I don't think you mortgage the future for a consideration like that (Horton innings limit). I also don't think that offer gets it done. As much control as Gore has left and with an interim GM being in charge, someone is going to have to absolutely overpay in a very obvious manner to pry him away. I'd say it's less than a 5% chance he's moved.
  6. Herring seems like he's got some potential. 9K/9 in high A. Feels like a decent pull for McMahon.
  7. I like Tauchman but he's redundant on this team. They need a RH hitter who can play the OF to spell PCA (and maybe Happ sometimes).
  8. To be expected (the offensive struggles at this point) when installing a new offense and working out the kinks. Obviously not on remotely the same scale, but we installed a new offense my senior year for a summer basketball camp right before it started. I think we scored like 12 points or something ridiculous like that in the first game we played (20 minute running clock for each half, so quick games but that was still awful) and got killed. We played the same team 2 days later and beat them while scoring over 40 because we were all more comfortable with what we were doing after repetition at full speed. It's going to take some time for everyone to be in rhythm.
  9. The fact that he refuses to change an opinion on anybody once he's made an initial evaluation is sure something.
  10. Man, Keith Law hates Caissie. 2 Cubs in his top 60. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6502957/2025/07/24/mlb-top-prospects-2025-kevin-mcgonigle/
  11. I think 2nd half 2024 Assad was injured and nobody knew it until later.
  12. The fact that almost no deals have been made tells me that that wasn't an option. And JFC, the 9 hitter for hist first career homer? Come on.
  13. I had a feeling that he and Shaw would struggle with Lugo today. Just too many different looks for their young eyes to adjust to.
  14. He grew up on Roosevelt Island in NYC and has probably lived in apartments/condos for his entire adult life so that tracks.
  15. 6 inches may have done it (that's what she said!).
  16. This is an objectively bad take. One run is unearned because of the error and the pitch Perez hit out was both not even a strike and the softest HR hit at Wrigley this year. Baseball is just gonna baseball sometimes.
  17. I can't even get mad at that homer by Perez. Pitch was in a very good location and wasn't even a strike. Also the softest homer by EV hit at Wrigley this year.
  18. Man I thought that was a DP off Dansby's bat.
  19. I meant fully back in the rotation.
  20. Steele likely won't be pitching until July next year, so don't get your hopes up.
  21. I think this weekend's results will start to push teams one way or another. Teams like the Cards who are playing the Padres this weekend will essentially be out of it if they don't do well and I'm sure pretty much every team in that position is having preliminary talks to lay groundwork. I'd bet we see some deals Monday and things really pick up from there. I do think they need to bring back the waiver deadline. That allowed teams to be creative with getting players and kept a late injury from completely crippling a team with World Series aspirations. Maybe make it August 15th instead of the 31st.
  22. I really wanted to watch this but 6 consecutive ads makes it not worth my while.
  23. I'll always hate him for giving up that first pitch homer to Chris Young in game 3 of the 2007 playoffs. Wrigley was a morgue the whole night after that and I was pissed I made the trip up.
