  1. That's certainly pretty bizarre.
  2. What's this about?
  3. Agreed. I'd much rather have a path of Padres and Brewers to the NLCS than Dodgers and/or Phillies even down a pitcher.
  4. He wasn't good but that line they had in front of him by the end of the game last night was as bad as any the Bears have assembled.
  5. I think the injuries are problematic, Eberflus is probably a better defensive coordinator than he gets credit for, and holy horsefeathers where is the pass rush? You just can't let any QB, let alone one with weapons like the Lions have, sit back there all day and pick you apart.
  6. Same here on Gomber. The Cards and Rockies have both been kind of pitching incompetent of late so I'm pretty interested to see what the Cubs can do with him.
  7. If Hodge is really back, the four guys out of the pen today plus Thielbar and a healthy and effective Soroka in short bursts is a pretty solid backbone suddenly, even without Palencia.
  8. This is awesome.
  9. Yeah, it's going to be 95 here all weekend. So lame.
  10. Just to add to this, it feels like rest between starts is as big a factor as anything in managing these guys. The fatigue that sets in after 70-75 pitches on 4 days rest and 85-90 pitches on 5 days rest seems to be what the Cubs in particular are trying to avoid with Horton (5 no hit innings on 65 pitches on 4 days and 6.1 innings on 87 pitches on 5 days in his last 2 outings). We'll have to see what happens in his next start when he's on 5 days rest again.
  11. This didn't make sense to me either for whatever that's worth. The fact that 2 (or 4 if you include the AL) teams have better odds with worse records and an allegedly tougher path doesn't make any sense logically.
  12. Sure, but you're advocating for a guy who's going to throw less than 90 innings this year to be on track to throw 160 if he gets a full complement of starts and averages 5 IP per game. It's just nonsensical to think that's a likely thing to happen.
  13. Nah, DJ was nearly untouched and wide open. It was just a terrible throw.
  14. There's plenty of video out there of what happened. She was never anywhere near grabbing that ball. It was in the row in front of her.
  15. I would be utterly shocked if Wiggins started the year in the rotation with the MLB club if for no other reason than load management. He's not going to even hit 90 innings this year, so to think he's going to spend an entire season in an MLB rotation is pretty far fetched.
  16. I think a big factor is that last start was on standard 4 days rest and this one was on 5. That extra day of rest really seems to be a key to how the Cubs are handling pitchers these days.
  17. I've said it before, but I absolutely expected this offense to look clunky for a few weeks of the regular season. It's disappointing they gave a game away last night and they probably had to have that game to have any hope at a winning record this year (unless there's a huge turnaround anyway). I'm hoping the missing guys is just an effect of not quite being comfortable with all the reads/progressions yet because the offense is new and he's still thinking too much instead of just reacting.
  18. He still doesn't have as many NFL rushing yards as he did in 4 years of high school, which is absolutely insane.
  19. Oh, that's a patented move for sure. What I'm saying is from that the outcome of the game is likely different if that call isn't made. They went from 1st and 10 at like the 15(ish) to 1st and 20 at the 45. If they bleed a little more clock and score there, they probably win the game. Everything went completely to horsefeathers after that call.
  20. Just some random thoughts: -I've never seen a game flip on a phantom holding call like last night before. -I knew the FG before halftime was going to come back to haunt them as soon as the long completion happened. Had a bad feeling about the missed FG and going for it on 4th down early too. -Defense is absolutely hot garbage and I'm not sure the injured guys coming back fixes anything. -I said I expected the first 4-5 games to look rough as Caleb learns the offense and has to execute against real defenses and while last night was disappointing, I have to stick with that. If we don't see significant improvement by week 4, I almost expect a QB change after the bye.
  21. Watching the Lions yesterday certainly made me feel better about Ben being the guy (overreaction I'm sure). The Lions are still likely to be very good but it's probably going to take a few weeks for them to figure out what works and what doesn't with the new coordinators.
  22. It was hot garbage on my Samsung TV but works really well on both a Roku TV and a Roku stick for me, so I think some of the issues are software related with specific brands.
  23. Yes, he would be. You just have to be in the organization by August 31st to be eligible for the postseason, not on the ML roster.
  24. It'll be tough to top that game last night for the rest of the year. That was absolutely nuts. The throw Allen made to get them into FG range on the last drive was pretty amazing.
  25. I had it figured out with context clues but how does someone who's been watching this team all year do that? Multiple times.
