  1. The people who grip about Jed making bad signings should have to print this out and eat it.
  2. 2 feet to the left and that's in the basket. Damn.
  3. Jim Edmonds with more SB maybe, though some of the OBPs he ran in STL in the early 2000s is something we'll never see again from guys who aren't the elite of the elite.
  4. If it's actual darts, that explains the good results. 😜
  5. I believe in them, but the pitching is smoke and mirrors right now. Unless/until that gets fixed, I'm leery of putting too much belief in them as a whole. Even through the slump, I thought the offense was always going to be fine and here we are on another good run led by much better offense.
  6. The 2016 World Series Champions would like a word. Or maybe a bunch of them in the names of the starting 1B, 2B, SS, and 3B on that team, not to mention the DH (who might be an HOFer) and a back up catcher.
  7. I mean, the Brewers scored 5 runs on 7 hits. They Brewered the Reds like they do almost everyone. It's kind of amazing how good they are at stealing and taking every extra base they can. They also get more garbage hits than any team in the history of the game and somehow seem to take advantage of almost all of them. That double Frelick hit the other day on a ball 6" above the zone and 4" outside is something that just shouldn't happen as frequently as it does for them.
  8. The thing that blows my mind watching those is the guys who don't even get the ball on net. If the keeper stops it, fine, but give yourself a chance to put in the back of the net and don't try to get too cute with it. It's been a really long time since I took a PK, but it's wild that these guys who are exponentially more skilled than I ever dreamed of being make that mistake.
  9. The heat index is going to be like 107 here today.
  10. From how far away? 😜
  11. I was wondering how they'd make that work but I suppose when you're a fringe guy you take your orders and keep your mouth shut for your own good, especially when you continue getting an MLB paycheck.
  12. The pass before the cross that set up the Paraguay goal was absolutely fantastic and filthy.
  13. Based on that bullpen usage chart, I think @Bertz's idea of a Shota/Assad piggyback looks like a really good plan. Get 5 from Shota and let Assad finish to essentially get the pen a reset day, especially if sending Roberts down won't make a difference because of the 10 day window guys have to be in Iowa before they can come back up, which is an unknown for me at this point.
  14. Just to pile on the it would be silly to trade Brown side of things, seems like the current Cubs regime has a pretty solid track record of producing MLB competent position players and less success on the pitching side, especially starters. Seems like hanging onto one of the few guys they've managed to get over the development hump would be prudent, assuming they think this injury is something he can get past, and trading from the excess makes way more sense, especially when it seems they have some more guys in the pipeline to backfill already.
  15. Yeah, everything about the way he interacts with kids screams the opposite of cocky douche.
  16. Man, if ever there was a day to just send Velasquez out to wear one for 5-6 innings, today is the day. Give Rea an extra day and hope for the best over the weekend with him and Peterson. I suspect they're not doing that because the pen is already so wrecked with usage so I get it. Unfortunate timing on the DH. Would have been nice to do that Tuesday to spread things out a bit.
  17. There have been a ton of Cardinals tickets for $6 or less the last couple seasons that I still didn't take advantage of because the concessions at the park are so outlandish.
  18. Ferguson, Rolison, Webb and Milner are the only guys who are likely truly unavailable. It's not great but it's not as bad as it could be coming off a DH.
  19. Oof, lots of hard contact in the second half of that. That said, the Cubs probably turn 8-10 of those into outs through better fielding, positioning, or range.
  20. I don't know, feels like him missing his spots is really the issue. The one Alvarez hit was 4" above the zone and both Ewing and Vientos hit pitches that were down the middle and not anywhere near where he wanted them.
  21. They do, but I think killing the other team's players is frowned upon and the union would probably file a grievance. 😜
