  1. That's probably at least part of it. People in NJ are pissed about how much it's going to cost the area.
  2. What an awful turnover by RSA to give Mexico the early lead.
  3. I don't. It's baseball and not life or death. If they turn it around, fantastic. If not, I'll find other things to do with my time. I'd certainly prefer they play well, but it's summer and I can find plenty of other things to occupy my time.
  4. $220 based on what my buddy who threw $1 at it told me. 😂
  5. I think anything Illinois gives them will fall short of what Indiana has offered, but the prospect of building a stadium on a toxic waste dump is probably a bigger pitfall than a little less help from Illinois. I also keep going back to the fact that they don't even have a site to build on in Hammond, let alone all of the pre-construction work that has to be done before you move a single piece of dirt and every day they delay makes a stadium more expensive, so building in Indiana, even with the extra kickbacks, may not be as viable as AH is.
  6. I threw $5 at PCA and Goodman hitting homers. Maybe I can profit off the bad.
  7. I'm not so sure that's true. Based on everything being reported, Warren straight up ignored the advice of the consultants he hired and the Bears didn't have anyone in Springfield trying to get votes for whatever proposal they were going to need passed for the funding to happen. You dump Warren, listen to the consultants and get in front of the people you need votes from, and things might change quite a bit.
  8. Are we getting to the point that sending him to Iowa soon and thinking about him as the legit backup next year is a possibility?
  9. Just because everyone is doing it doesn't mean it's the right move. I'm no expert, but there's a lot of stuff you can see in person you can't on video or in data. Does the player get along with teammates? Did they lose their horsefeathers in the dugout? Did they take some coaching they got the right way or did they pout about it?
  10. Disagree. I think that would actually help them save some face by completely throwing him under the bus. There's enough out there in the media to make the case that he led them down this path and they disagreed with it all along and now they've had enough.
  11. Illinois won't give them the handouts they want. And they absolutely shouldn't.
  12. Yep. If they were serious the AH land would already be on the market. There are entirely too many unknowns about Hammond for anyone to actually take them seriously at this point. The millions (billions?) they're costing themselves by continuing to delay construction because of the incompetence is inexcusable too. This stadium is going to cost $3 billion by the time they get around to building it instead of the $500-750 million it would have cost if they started 2 years ago like they should have.
  13. Send Nico to the IL and a sensory deprivation chamber, IL Bregman for his toe, send Mo to Iowa and put Shaw at 3B, Pedro at 2B, and let Conforto and Alcantara DH while those guys aren't in the lineup. If Bregman's bat speed really is gone, this is going to be quite the sunk cost to deal with for the next 4.5 seasons.
  14. Have you listened to the Loveable Reunion podcast at all? Just based on that, I'd strongly disagree with this notion. They don't even need to be a redass, but guys like Lackey, Ross, and Lester were all willing and able to put a boot in someone's ass if they weren't toeing the line every day.
  15. Do you actually believe this? The guy has been a successful MLB manager for 10 years and played with some of the biggest names in the game. Thinking he wouldn't call someone out is just wild.
  16. It wouldn't surprise me. Too many nice guys. You need an horsefeathers or two (looking at you Rossy) to keep everyone accountable and this team doesn't have any of those guys.
  17. This team is playing terrible baseball right now but if you actually think this, I'm not even sure what to say to you.
  18. Man, what absolutely atrocious luck they're having right now.
  19. Incompetence can certainly make you appear to be all those things.
  20. Yeah, that's the part that really gives me pause. Getting clearance to build on that site from an environmental perspective and taking on the risk of exposing millions of people to whatever might be buried there over the next 30-40 years just feels like a huge stretch.
  21. The Walker thing is unfortunately a lot more believable than the pitching holding up. He was a top prospect for a reason and them jacking around with his swing really messed him up for a while.
  22. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/48688392/twins-joe-ryan-make-next-start-elbow-scare Edit: Ope, didn't realize that was from a month ago.
  23. That feels right. From most to least competitive I'd probably go 1. 98 Utah 2. 97 Utah 3. 93 Suns 4. 92 Portland 5. 96 Seattle 6. 91 LA
  24. That fly ball last night is probably the best argument out there for the team error. It absolutely wasn't an error on PCA and it's a shame Shota gets tagged with another HR and the earned runs when the ball that was hit should have been turned into an out. That's a rule change I could 100% get behind.
