  1. I don't know if they changed what they were doing, but it felt like the Bears were getting much better pressure on the QB in the 4th quarter than they were the rest of the game. Maybe better effort, maybe the Washington line was tired, I don't know, it just seemed better late.
  2. No kink shaming!
  3. I don't think this can be a consideration. Tucker's bat being as much better as it is than anyone else they can reasonably expect to get at any other position in the near future (as you point out in your "Pros") makes it pretty easy to find the level of production you may have gotten from corner OF at another spot on the field using those resources.
  4. The pass interference no calls were painful to watch. I don't think Illinois wins that game regardless, but there were a couple in the end zone and the early interception was absolutely a result of an early jersey tug by the OSU defender.
  5. Yeah, Counsell definitely got outmanaged in the 6th inning when his top 2 hitters got on base and the 3 highest paid hitters on the team proceeded to completely horsefeathers the bed in the most crucial moment of the season. 100% his fault. 🙄
  6. Apparently you haven't looked at the Dodgers roster for those games vs. what they're sending out in the NLCS. The Brewers got the almost split squad version in the regular season.
  7. Names I'd consider to fill spots next year: 3B: Bregman, Trevor Story (I assume he can handle 3B), Bichette SP: Chris Sale (could be an ideal 1 yr deal/PTR move with the lockout looming), Framber Valdez, Ranger Suarez, Freddy Peralta Bench: Goldschmidt as a lefty masher, Miguel Rojas in a utility role There aren't many OF I'd have any interest in pending the Tucker situation, but Trent Grisham might be worth a look. Pete Alonso would be a terrible idea considering he'd want a ton of PT, a ton of money, and the 1B already on the roster is better than him anyway.
  8. Yeah, regardless of who won on Saturday I was expecting the NLCS to be a slaughter. The Dodgers have too much pitching depth and too many good hitters in comparison to either the Cubs or Brewers for it to be much of a contest.
  9. Best I can find is 30-4, but your point stands because outside of that stretch they're 69-63 including postseason games.
  10. I have absolutely zero metrics and I'm working off vibes here, but I think Colin Rea is the guy I'm most comfortable with sending out there to start the game and get 6-9 outs. He's been throwing the ball well of late, he's a veteran who's less likely to get rattled by the moment, and he's pitched a ton of games in Milwaukee. Hopefully the offense can score off (likely) Misiorowski early and give the pitchers some breathing room.
  11. Game isn't starting at 4:00 with blinding sun so that shouldn't be an issue. Can't catch a ball you can't see.
  12. Oh, it would be a huge risk and Counsell would get lambasted if it flopped. Boyd on full rest, at Wrigley, with his track record trumps any other info on a small sample size basis and going with Brown would definitely be on the getting too cute path that I hated when he started Boyd in game one.
  13. In all fairness, Brown has mowed down the Brewers in limited action.
  14. As much as I think you have to dance with what brung ya, I don't think you can ignore Happ's struggles against Peralta in an elimination game. He's earned the right to have a chance, but man, giving them essentially an automatic out sucks.
  15. I gotta be honest, I don't hate the idea of sending Brown out there for as long as he can be effective. I think @Jason Ross has mentioned a few times that the Brewers aren't great against velocity and Brown is about the only guy the Cubs have who has that in spades. If you can get maybe 9-12 outs out of him and lean on Civale for a couple innings, you probably have a chance. The flip side is that Boyd has been so much better at home than on the road and he's on regular rest, which you can't ignore. Brown's numbers against the Brewers speak for themselves though.
  16. Yeah, I have no hard evidence but it's just too much of a coincidence and when you couple that with the accusations against Yelich from his MVPish years, there's enough circumstantial evidence to think something untoward may be going on.
  17. Sir, these poor owners are just trying to break even. 🤣
  18. This is an absolutely delusional thought process here. The Cubs draw the way they do in no small part because Wrigley is what it is. Moving them to the suburbs or wherever and building another cookie cutter stadium wouldn't have been more profitable or easier because if there's anything we know about current ownership, it's that they value maximizing profits over anything else. The way they've monetized the entire neighborhood should tell you everything you need to know.
  19. Agree with this 100% because there are just more paths to a good defense. It doesn't all hinge on one player being good enough to make the whole thing work like the QB on offense. You still need good players but it's certainly possible to make it work in a quicker fashion.
  20. That didn't happen. He authorized a large deal and in present day dollars it was more than what Boston offered but Bregman picked them instead. Their total offer after deferrals etc. was $90 million with an opt out in '25 and '26 while the Cubs was $120 million with opt outs in '26 and '27.
  21. Regardless of whether or not people agree with your premise, the level of hyperbole you're using is going to cause them to tell you to piss up a rope, and rightfully so.
  22. Honestly, I think they're cheating somehow. Isaac Collins doesn't suddenly become a star at 28, Vaughn doesn't suddenly start hitting the second he puts on a Brewers uniform, you don't get meaningful contributions from every single player up and down the lineup at every clutch moment you need it on a consistent basis like they do. There were definitely rumors about Yelich during his MVP years and it wouldn't surprise me if something like that is still going on.
