Honestly, how many times a year do you hear or hear anyone say, "That was a smart play by Barrett," or "Smart at-bat by Barrett". I know there are lots of people on the board who love him just because offensively he's been one of the better catchers in the NL. But partly because from an offensive standpoint the catcher's position isn't what it was fifteen or twenty years ago, and, think about it, catchers like Ausmus, Pagnozzi, Matheny and Molina have played in more postseason games than Barrett has. Give me a smart catcher and I'll gladly give up offense and find it at another position on the team. I agree, he really hurts our team in a lot more ways than he helps it.
