    I really think that Jed is in jeopardy here. Tom really didn't want a complete rebuild, at least he said he didn't, I am sure Jed tried to sell him on threading the needle on not a a full rebuild. However, I am not sure there is anyway around it after this trade deadline. I guess time will tell, but I don't think Jed is here in three years.

    Right? I know how we got here but its still strange that the organization is in this shape 5 years after being the crown jewel of the sport. If you could go back to the second after KB throwing out Martinez, I am not sure you mess the franchise up this badly unless you were trying to. Been pretty amazing.

    Man, this hits hard now. With all these guys being gone, I’m reminded how old I’ve become. Also makes me really hate the Ricketts. Ugh.

    I don't think so. Kid has like 400 professional at bats, we won't be very good, and poor Tom won't want to start his clock yet.

    What I’m wondering is, the schools get money based on making the tournament. That money comes from the tv deal. That money supports all the non revenue sports. Did the NCAA just pocket all of that money by not releasing a tournament?

    With a bit of luck this team is 18-2. It’s too bad Adam Miller doesn’t want to play with Ayo. Next years team with both could be as good as we’ve had in some time. Dakich was talking about Kofi being a one and done, think he's a little raw, one more season of development and the sky is the limit for him and the Illini. Everything I read said he was so raw and might not contribute this year. OA and Underwood have done an amazing job developing him.

    I'm cautiously optimistic, it's starting to come together, defense, offense, rebounding maybe, they'll go on run like Purdue or Michigan did last season. With a bit of luck this team is 18-2.     It’s competitive because every team sucks. This isn’t just for the BIG but all of college basketball. This has to be one of the worst years ever talent wise. There isn’t a good team. It’s a spectacular collection of mediocrity this year. I wouldn’t say sucks, I just don’t think there’s any great teams. But, that could change in a month.

    He’s crazy. He didn’t really play well today and had 11 and 17. I have no idea what kind of timeline they have with him though, I don’t think he’s an nba player at this point, but he’s so big.

    Can you guys remember a time when the league was this competitive top to bottom? There’s no easy wins on paper.

    They're still way too inconsistent in effort on a game to game basis. After this game, them not taking care of business against Rutgers at home would be so Illinois basketball the last decade. I believe the previous game and this game is a start towards consistency in effort, with that, they'll be in the tournament. Rutgers is a big game. They’re a good team, but one we have to beat at home. I really think they’ve turned a corner a bit, but part of me thinks they’ll but punch us not because that’s what they’ve done for the last 15 years. I’m so excited for next year. As long as ayo is the only departure, I think we could be a lot better.

    The could really be 14-2 pretty easily. The arrow is pointed up. It’s just taken forever.

    Just a slight overreaction on my part nevertheless, why the horsefeathers can't this team give Underwood 40 minutes game in game out? He mentioned that several times at the post game press conference - 40 minutes a game. Firing him would probably set the program back another 3+ years however, this under-performing [expletive] is getting real tiresome. Shitty answer no one wants to hear, but because they’re all underclassmen, but Frazier. I know it sucks struggling right now, but if they fire Underwood with this recruiting class coming in and only losing ayo, they’re freaking insane.

    I mean we won it all so whatever, but it sure seems like the rebuild kind of failed. I guess maybe I just thought the multiple titles thing would happen easily and that wasn't the case. Joe has to be gone after the year, but I honestly am wondering if it isn't time for a complete overhaul.

    Fail to understand how this one is on Joe, once again. I didn't say it was. Just stating I think we have been swept in St Louis once a year since he has been here.

    Did you want him to burn a couple good relievers when we’re losing? Brach and Cishek pitched yesterday. If you think Kintzler is good, he pitched also. I’m fine with wanting Joe gone but I’m not sure what else he should have done that inning. Yes, I would have liked that. We still had a chance in this game. It's whatever, we got our one. I wasn't sure we would even get that. Just can't see this group doing it again.
