  1. ctrl + n doesn't work, but if you go to file--->new--->window, that works.
  2. i'm going after the 3:05 cubs/cards saturday game in late july. it's easy for me to fly over to chicago from NYC. and i'm tired of purchasing tickets for late spring/early summer and the game ends up being hella cold. i did that for a cubs/astros game in 2003..."oh, late may! should be warm!" yeah, right. 16 innings, 35 degrees, 40 mph winds blowing IN, got a cold, but a cubs W made everything worth it. but being cold for close to 5 hours sucked. :(
  3. that's what i kept hearing, so i gave it a shot and it worked. i did the multiple window thing and got in twice last year on that friday. it might work now, but maybe they'll disable ctrl + n once the tickets actually go on sale.
  4. for those rocking the VWR like i am, the "ctrl + n" trick still works. *waiting patiently*
  5. i hope not. he's got good range...i asked him to play "amen brother" by the winstons and he did!
  6. i had a tradition going on that every time i saw a game at wrigley field, i'd buy a new era hat from one of the street vendors. i must have 10-15 hats from those guys alone. it would be a shame if they were to get rid of them. like others said, it does bring flavor to wrigleyville.
  7. lee, then ramirez. i can't really see it any other way.
  8. i don't think it's a mass exodus to soccer, but there's been plenty of kids playing that than other sports. why do you think there's not many prototypical leadoff hitters around anymore? too much emphasis on hitting home runs will get you the big paycheck? perhaps kids in high school, college and in the minors think its better than emulate the adrian beltre's and richie sexton's of baseball than it is to emulate rickey henderson.
  9. That is what I meant. Small fast athletes, what Dusty considers to be prototypical leadoff men, aren't abandoning the sport en masse to another sport. maybe some to soccer, actually when i mentioned soccer, i was being serious. the news has been reporting for some time that younger kids are more interested in soccer leagues than they are pee-wee baseball and football. when those kids grow up, they tend to stay with the sports they were interested as kids. it seems that the juan pierre/david eckstein type of players are going by the wayside. you tend to see players of their height and athletic build in other sports.
  10. bat poop? explain.
  11. soccer. :)
  12. i just found out that time warner carries the extra innings package. i am one happy dude right now! 8)
  13. money...the pride he has for his country...it's a toss-up for some people. he probably doesn't want to lose face if the dominican republic is defeated in the WBC.
  14. carl everett doesn't believe in the existance of private investigators.
  15. if we're talking about pitching busts of our generation, wouldn't todd van poppel or bill pulsipher (sp?) or first round picks who turned into journeymen be on that short list? i really wouldn't put wood in that category...
  16. how is their stadium? i'm planning on heading to pittsburgh for a game this season.
  17. two words: alec baldwin.
  18. i wish time warner in NYC had WGN... :(
  19. yeah, garvey's known to be a fake. they didn't call him "the politician" for nothing when he was playing. i don't know who would win in a phony contest, him or gary carter.
  20. sandberg hit .400 in the '89 NLCS. grace put on a one-man show. dawson was the one who didn't show up...he hit something like .157 or something horrid like that. i'll always remember that series...i was in 2nd grade and couldn't believe the cubs were playing baseball on my birthday. it was game 5 and they were eliminated. i was very sad and proceeded to play with my plastic baseball game that i received as a birthday present. freakin' will clark! *shakes fist*
  21. go to cubs.com and look at the 5th news headline on the front page (where you can pick between 1-6). you have to REGISTER with cubs.com to purchase tickets on the 24th?! what's this all about?
  22. i took a half day off work last year just to purchase tickets. i waited in the VWR with like 40 windows open from 10 am-12:30 pm. right before i left for work, i got through and picked up 6 tickets to opening day (aka the "latroy and leicester blowing it in the 9th" game). later on that day, i got 6 box seats a cubs/pirates game in late april/early may (it was rained out). you should be able to get good seats. i had no problem doing so.
  23. didn't walton blow out his hamstring one year? i remember him not being the same player after that. smith had a few decent seasons with cubs and got a ring with the '95 braves.
  24. wait a sec, here...are these the same boston fans who booed him while he was a yankee and held up "(B)etrayal" signs when he came back to fenway as a blue jay? i don't know if i buy that, dude.
  25. does anyone else find it hilarious that the red sox would send a player a DVD with footage of fans asking the player to play for boston? the hell has negotiating come to? can you imagine the cubs front office trying to sway a player to come to chicago by giving him a DVD with fans pleading for said player to come to the cubs? the newspapers would have a field day with the story. next thing you know, they'll re-enact a simpsons episode... Jim Hendry: [whining] C'mon, join the Cubs! MLB Player: No. Hendry: I'll be your friend? MLB Player: No. Hendry: Aw, you're mean!
