  1. what type of contract do we think shin-soo choo will get this off-season?
  2. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2013/8/9/4605428/albert-pujols-steroids-jack-clark jack clark doesn't like anyone not named jack clark. he talks a lot of [expletive]. he was doing the same crap 25 years ago with tony gwynn, saying to the press he was a selfish player and only cared about winning batting titles.
  3. the fun starts here: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1452867&page=31 first misery post gets extra credit points by starting out with the episode 3 darth vader "nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"
  4. jersey, this might be a little out of your way, but there's an excellent blackhawks bar in bay ridge, brooklyn: http://www.yelp.com/biz/windy-city-ale-house-brooklyn i went there last night and it was packed with blackhawks fans. chicago style dogs and chicago beer on tap. highly recommended.
  5. would alex gordon be a trade target for the cubs? he signed a 4-year extension at the start of the 2012 season, but with the royals playing not as well as they hoped, perhaps they would want to get some younger prospects for him. apologies if this was brought up somewhere else.
  6. ryan dempster has thrown 123 pitches so far in 4 2/3 innings tonight. he's given up 6 hits and walked 7 batters. as far as i can remember, i've never seen a pitch count that high so early in a game.
  7. is espn watching the wrong game? 9th C Heisey grounded into fielder's choice to third, J Votto scored, B Phillips out at third, T Frazier to second. 2 3
  8. i'm coming back to chicago for a few days in april and looking to purchase tickets for the red wings game on 4/12 on stubhub. i've only been to the united center twice and never for a bulls/blackhawks game. for those who go there to see hockey and basketball games, what are the better 300 level sections to sit in?
  9. i was at the 11-10 game. i had 11th row seats behind the reds dugout, but a friend of mine bought 12 seats in section 140. i gave the two tickets i had to my parents. my dad said that was the most enjoyable cubs gave he's been to during his 60 years of going to wrigley. put a smile on my face.
  10. men's tennis semi-final:
  11. six words you thought you'd never read: reed johnson is trending on twitter. #9 worldwide.
  12. or will los angeles pull the trigger on a dempster trade since trading for garza isn't feasable at this point?
  13. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2012/07/cal-ripkens-mom-is-found-safe/1#.UBAd8KA5vTo i guess she was abducted from her house on tuesday. didn't he find a dead body on his property a few years back? strange story.
  14. looking forward to my first cubs game of the year. the high for tomorrow is 99. here's to hoping for a seat somewhere in the shade.
  15. Now we're even for 1984. You couldn't have possibly been around in 1984. Nothing could make up for that. See you in hell, Steve Garvey. this. my brother has steve garvey to hate for the rest of his life; i have will clark. that [expletive] ruined my 7th birthday. there's been better cubs team that made the playoffs later on, but [expletive] that '89 team is my favorite.
  16. Aside from the Seinfeld episode, a slogan totally unknown outside of people who lived in an area in NY and around NYC in the 90s and late 80s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdl5aiYr-RU
  17. rizz mopper
  18. did clevenger hit like this in the minors?
  19. Additionally: Hawkins: racism related Bradley: racism related Jacque Jones: felt unfairly treated, might have been racism mixed in. Flames were fanned by close friend Tori Hunter. Baker: ran out of top shelf arms to wreck Silva: vocally upset that he lost his job to a more talented player(Cashner) and was strung along despite the fact that they know he would lose out. I think DeRosa, Prior, and Pierre each might have griped a bit after their respective stays. I don't recall DeRosa, Prior or Pierre griping at all. Mark Grace is the one that irritated me: "I'm not good enough to play for the Cubs but I'm good enough to play for the WS champions!" douchbag There were definitely reports of Prior being sour on Hendry/Baker and the feeling was supposedly mutual. I can't remember if there were any public comments, though. i remember an odd interview with prior on the mac, jurko and harry show back in '03 or '04 where he expressed dismay about how the cubs marketed him and also the team, but he didn't want to go into detail about specifics. thought it was kinda weird for him to say that since outside of going to a random sports authority in schaumburg to sign baseballs for kids and parents, i never thought he was over or under marketed by the team.
  20. i don't think you can blame your pitching coach when your entire bullpen sucks. you can't shine [expletive].
  21. i prefer to have a respectable ballclub out on the field than the total suckage we've been seeing for the last 11 going on 12 games (or the last 9 weeks, depending on your point of view), but out of curiosity, who would you have signed and/or traded during the offseason to make this team better? i don't like the white flag lineup that's out there today as much as the next person, but outside of pujols/cj wilson/darvish/fielder, what were the better options in the free agent and trade market that would have taken the place of darwin barney, jeff baker, joe mather and the like?
