  1. I have question about this. Does Ozzie Guillen have a direct number to the station or does he have to call like we would have to? Twice in the past I have tried to call the score and didnt get through. Neither time was it a major subject, I just was trying to correct some misinformation they were giving out. I didnt get thru either time. So I quit trying. Did Ozzie go thru the channels we did and call back if it was busy or does he have a direct number?
  2. Ramirez has a dirty uniform because he's so lazy that he lies down between pitches. It's funny you say that. Someone on WGN was talking to Barry Rozner about the Bulls game on Wednesday morning, and right at the end of the conversation, Rozner took a blantant and unnecessary shot at ARam. He said he hadn't seen the Cubs game from the previous night and wanted to know if Ramirez was still standing there admiring his home run, or if he bothered to run around the bases. I bet if Rozner did anything worth noting he might take the time to admire it as well. Like when he spends an entire column reminding us he talks to Greg Maddux on the phone? Maybe he stands there and admires himself in the mirror while he does it!!
  3. They said that?!? Please. OPS+ Crede 108 Ramirez 126 And last year was Crede's best year. Idiots. They've been saying it since 03 when the Cubs got ARam. But that doesnt have hustle and defense factored in!!!!!!
  4. Chris Pronger suspended for game 4. If the Refs got the right guy to begin with he probably wouldnt be getting the suspension. Too bad for Anaheim
  5. http://bp1.blogger.com/_W6YuhWU3sm8/Rj5u3kNvjyI/AAAAAAAAAII/mnVQbKK3kqc/s1600-h/PH7-5-7.jpg funny cartoon from palehoseseven
  6. I can tell you right now that the Wings are going to be eliminated if they get to the Ducks. The Wings have never been a playoff team, their hearts aren't in it. You all see the Ducks, Wild, Canucks, and Stars playing their butts off, but when you watch the Wings games, they play like it's reg. season. And seeing as there were NO Wings to back up Franzen is just another observation of how much this team lacks. I know the series isnt over and the Ducks can certainly come back in win. I think the Ducks are a more talented team. That just shows even more how wrong this post is. The Wings have played real strong for most of the playoffs. They are clearly not as talented as San Jose or Anahiem, yet they are in it.
  7. Matt Murton's career OBP = .368 That is not an "OBP machine" under even the most liberal definition of that term. I think its safe to say that he will improve though, given his age. Also I do agree he is not a OBP machine he will however be the Cubs 2nd best if given the opportunity. On a team that is probably going to be middle of the league in OBP it would probably be wise to play him as much as possible. I wouldnt be against trading Murton because he will probably never be a RFer. Sadly he will probably be a better offensive player than Soriano in a couple of years(stupid Hendry again). At this point though we would need a quality 4th outfielder because Floyd cannot play everyday and certainly would be a liability in Right.
  8. Did all the hockey people take the weekend off? Fun game last night. To bad the Ducks won. Watching some of the game on Sat between the Sabres and the Sens. The Sabres need to learn like San Jose, playing really really hard for 10 mins is not always a great idea. You can burn yourself out. Great game though. Out of the 4 games so far, 3 have been really entertaining. Game 1 between the Ducks and the Wings was a little dull.
  9. Will this game be blacked out in Central Illinois?
  10. there is quite a few blacks in the NHL. I think its up into the 20s. I know this isnt a lot but they are growing in that league as opposed to baseball.
  11. I think it is part of the World Wide Conspiracy to keep me from seeing games that Hill pitches!!!!!!!!!!
  12. If this were an isolated instance of Dusty pointing fingers, then yes I would understand his frustration. However, ever since he left San Francisco (and even during that battle between him and Sabean), the negatives have never been his fault. If you lived in Dusty's world, someone else was always to blame. Hendry made him play the kids, Trib never opened the pursestrings for him, fans are to blame for him getting booed. Truth is he should just not say anything. He does show a lack of class. I agree with that. I just understand why he feels the way he does
  13. I think Dusty doesnt understand the business of baseball very well. I agree that Hendry was easily as much to blame for the Cubs sucking the last couple of years. However a GM gets to go through 2 managers before they are fired. Also if you were sitting in Dusty's shoes how would you feel? Yes he had flaws but really wasnt dealt a good hand last year at all. The "horses" this year a certainly better. Backup plans were made for Wood and Prior. I dont like Dusty as a manager and wanted him fired just as much as anyone else. I however do understand some of his frustration over the situation with the Cubs.
  14. I would have scored it as an error and a sacrifice. No official AB. No error. FC and a Sac. No AB
  15. Yeah, he had an error (an easy fly that he dropped) and a misplay (ball bounced past him-this was more due to his inexperience in RF, not as much of a problem). I think you're remembering last year a little wrong though. Murton had the fulltime job until June (through June 4th Murton had started all but 4 games of the season) When he started slumping badly, he got sat down for 6 days in a row for Nevin. In July and August, Murton split time with Pagan-it was during these months when he was splitting time that Murton really got hot. He got more of the job in September, although he still was splitting time a little bit, and he remained hot. Murton didn't get hot though when he got the everyday job-he got hot when he lost the everyday job and starting sharing LF. Yeah your right. I remember being upset everytime Pagan started. Maybe Murton is more of a 2nd half guy. I really aint that worried about him offensively. I think he will put up a .800 ops by seasons end and will start 100 games. I am more concerned because I dont think he is going to be a good enough RFer. I know the Cubs won the division in 84 with Moreland in Right, so its possible to win with a bad defensive RFer. I just dont think its a longterm position for him. Especially if he doesnt have an OPS over .900 to justify his defense.
  16. I thought he looked pretty good last night. Was taking a few more pitches and trying to work the count into his favor. Looked pretty solid in the field also. I didnt see todays game. I seen he had an error and went 0 for 4. I thought last year when he was finally just given the everyday job in June(without any competition) he really played well the rest of the season. He may be one of those guys who does better in a role like that, as opposed to having to fight for his job.
  17. Was Lenny Harris's OPS higher than .316 in 2003? Okay I know it was but I am thinking it was below .500 in something like 140 ABs.
  18. Sens looked good tonight. Up 1-0
  19. glad I was wrong. Good lineup considering Blanco has to start today.
  20. I think Sean Marshall was pretty solid for a rookie. If we were going to base everything on first impression I am guessing Hill would not be starting right now. I would rather have Guzman also, but think that Marshall still has value. If a starter got hurt now I would rather have Marshall than Miller.
  21. I have a feeling we are going to see Izturis at SS and DeRossa in RF today. I hope I am wrong.
  22. huh? Patterson never got better in his plate approach or his attitude. It took a couple of years for Cubs fans to boo Corey.
  23. I am sure I wrote some hateful things about the signing but didnt want to look for them. Up to this point I was wrong. That being said I hope that Marquis continues to do well and gets some Cy Young consideration. Than I hope he is part of a deal this offseason to get us a good SS. I just dont trust that he is going to perform well year in and year out.
  24. please read the thread before you start mocking people. jones is useless against LHP, and if lou absolutely insists on using him against them, it's better for the team if he's somehow gone. Lou doesn't absolutely insist it-it's simply that there's nobody else. When Soriano was playing CF, Jones was benched every time the team started against a LHP. Yesterday, he got moved down to 8th-Lou understands completely that Jones is terrible against left-handed pitching. The problem is, there is nobody to go to on the bench who is better. I really think this is on Hendry. Floyd is a redundant player. Murton did not have drastic platoon splits last year. Jones did. We got Murton a platoon partner and not Jones. The only problem I have right now is that Pie is on the team sitting the bench. If he isnt going to play send him down and bring up Walker or Pagan.
  25. Why do the King fans hate the Red Wings so much. Is it the Marcel Dionne thing. Wait that is why the Wings should hate the Kings. The Wings are also the team that produced your guy Avery i don't really know. i just know that myself and a few other kings fans that i talk to online (not living in a place where there are major professional sports) sucks. I mean, they had Luc, they gave us Avery, we beat them in the playoffs in our most recent series win. Arbitrary hate I guess. We didnt give you Avery, we got Schnieder in return. We gave you Marcel Dionne i know. but dionne was before my time, so i'm not really worried about it. and pffffft avery > schneider 8-) I didnt like the trade at the time. I liked Schneider but really like Avery. Schneider has been solid for us on the blue line. We also have Dan Cleary now who plays a similar style to Avery. At the time the Draper, Maltby and McCarty were still younger and fast. Maltby and McCarty got old quick. I was about 5 when the Dionne trade went down. I dont think anyone in Detroit thought it would turn out the way it did.
