    What I just dont understand about this is even with a strong 2nd half last year he finished with below average numbers for a lead-off man. Being good for half a year doesnt make up for an overall bad season. Still the Dodgers gave him a silly contract with better players waiting in their system.

    If Murton plays at all well at Triple A, they will find room for him on the major league roster. At the minimum Lou will get fed up with his options against left-handers and want Murton back up, and he'll be back up then. this is the truth. If everyone was down on Murtons hitting, wait until either Floyd or Jones gets significant time against LH pitching.

    Ok I have waited an hour and now I am a little calmed down. What the heck does a young player have to do to get a chance with the Cubs. The only reason Theriot is playing is because Izturis is terrible. The Cubs should have never even considered bringing in a LFer this offseason, But no, not the Dumb havent won a WS in 100 years Cubs. We have a guy with Rookie of the Year numbers if he is eligble and we need to bring in 2 GROSSLY overpaid veterans to block his playing time. While we have terrible players in Right, Center and Short and do nothing. Secondly, THE CUBS ARE NOT WORLD SERIES CONTENDERS. If someone mentions St Louis last year I am going to puke. IT WAS A FLUKE. The reason it is called a fluke is because it rarely happens. Dont build your team to win in a fluke, Build it to win CHAMPIONSHIPS. Lastly, Murton is still the best option against LH pitchers, even with his struggles. He has done well in Starts against LH pitchers and should be batting 2nd. Floyd and Jones will be much worse against LHers. So even with the Cubs stupid mentality of win flukely, Murton is the best option. All of this and I beat Derwood, Man this is a rotten day.

    I really like Craig Biggio. I always thought he was one of those guys you hated to play against but would love on your team. I think he is probably a top 5 all time 2nd baseman. Ok saying all of that, it is the Hall of FAME. Yes numbers are important, but was Biggio ever considered one of the best in the game? Where did he come in at in MVP voting? This may sound funny but his numbers will put him in the Hall but not his Fame. Which is part of the package. Probably not first ballot.

    This is why they shouldnt have PH for Murton. He probably would have been IBB also and Jones is probably going to have to be used in a key spot.

    I am on Barrett b/c he is responsible for the lack of production in the middle of the order this year and is a horrific defensive catcher. Barrett and Murton have both been thrown out at 3b more this year than all the others combined. Why we have a catcher get thrown out stealing 3b 2 times in a week is a mystery i would like solved. Murton is just a lack of concentration. I also used to be on Alou. Stupid baserunning is stupid baserunning. Doesnt matter who is doing it. Pagan was thrown out at 3rd for the 1st out in the inning in a 1 run game when Lou got thrown out. Dont get much worse than that.

    Derwood you dont have to worry about me fixing the election, I dont even know how to get an Avatar. I will say this is my favorite thread since the Hookers cost too much rant. Also I would have voted for you except that I couldnt vote for some reason so you are losing one. Lastly just to remind everyone I generally dont like people who like me, so I really dont feel happy about this at all!

    If Renteria isnt suspended something is certainly wrong. You could make a claim that it was everybit as bad as what Barrett did to AJ.

    It is coming from the money that is going to be used to bring in other players though. Just because we aren't directly responsible for the budget doesn't mean that it doesn't affect us as fans, or that we shouldn't take it into consideration. For years Cub fans have cried the Cubs don't do what it takes to get in top teir FA's. They finally do it but people still aren't happy. Not me. It is a crappy way of building a year in year out championship contending team. The best way to build a championship caliber team is to have a productive farm system. The one good thing about the Cubs overpaying Soriano is they will be forced to build thru their farm system now because they will not have enough money to sign top caliber free agents. Of course that really means the Cubs will probably sign 3rd tier free agents to fill out the roster instead of actually playing a youngster.

    I am willing to wager that if given equal playing time Jones will be a better hitter than Pagan. Not that it gives me goosebumps to see Jones playing.

    When he is putting up a +850 ops in 8 years I will agree with this statement. Tufffy Rhodes hit 3 hr in a game once, I wouldnt pay him $136.

    Has the Cards played San Diego yet? I am thinking a lot of the difference is probably Milwaukee and San Diego.

    Get him healthy and trade him. Sorry to all those who love Angel more than their mother. He would probably be worth more to keep. He could still turn into a pitcher. He really has no trade value left except as maybe a throw in.

    Am I the only person here who really doesnt care if Bonds breaks the record. No matter what it will always be questioned. I doubt that if it was anyone else there would be this much hatred. Lastly it really will show the powers to be in baseball that they really screwed up keeping a blind eye to what was obvious to most people.

    Are they working Soriano out at 2ndbase just in case they need someone? I havent seen that an IF has been called up.
