  1. I disagree. Year after year the SEC has a solid if not dominating bowl record, speaking to the depth of good teams. We'll see.
  2. It just seems that they have a pretty mediocre schedule. If they can get through that unscathed, then the lack of depth in a one game championship won't be as glaring.
  3. I was under the impression the the SEC was still a part of college football. My bad. I'll start brushing up on my Northwestern and Purdue knowledge.
  4. I think the only disagreement I have with you are the SC and maybe the Vandy game. As for that Cotton Bowl vs. Arkansas, you're talking about a UA team that had just fired their Head Coach and DMac and Felix Jones already had one foot in the NFL draft. They had talked about not even suiting up after Nutt was canned. Agree to disagree. To sum it up, I think neither Texas A&M nor Mizzou understand the grind that's the SEC schedule. Sure, teams can get up for a bowl game, but that's not the whole story. It's one week after having to play Bama or LSU, you have to face a physical Carolina team. The next week face a down but talented Auburn or Miss State. The biggest reason Bama and LSU are dominant isn't so much the starters, it's the NFL talent they have in their 3 deep roster. Outside of Ole Miss, there are no Indianas, Dukes or Kansas's on the schedule. If you don't get up to play at Neyland Stadium you'll lose. All that said, I think the USC Trojans are the best team in the country.
  5. I'm not sure what "that" guy is, but I'm not being an SEC homer whatsoever. Do not dismiss Vanderbilt because they're Vandy. That is a tough team that gave everyone fits last year. After losing at South Carolina and at Bama, they had Arkansas, Georgia and Florida on the ropes before losing nailbiters at the end by a combined 13 points. They return their starting QB, running back, leading receiver and most of their defense. So yes, we will see if they beat Vandy. If they do, which is definitely posible, they will have beaten a solid team. Don't mean to disappoint your expectations by bringing facts into this.
  6. I think you're underestimating some of the East. I don't think Mizzou can move the ball against the Georgia defense, and that's not to mention Aaron Murray at QB. They have a ton of weapons; I just don't like Richt. South Carolina's QB started most of the season last year. In fact, it's when Shaw took over that they started to take off. That defense is the best Spurrier has had there. Oh yeah, then there's Marcus Lattimore. And it's in SC. I see loss. If you haven't seen Vandy lately, that is a team on the rise, or at least until their coach gets a bigger gig. That team is tough. I'll give the benefit and say toss up. I have to believe that a mediocre Florida is better than Missouri. Much better athletes, and it's in the Swamp. Loss Tennessee is decent, but the game is at Neyland. Toss up for me. Bama=loss. aTm on the road. Toss up, but lean to a loss.
  7. Unfortunately you are right on with that. I'm excited to see our offense, though. We have a lot of talent on that side of the ball. Hopefully Showers won't suck at QB. I am curious to know what the average Aggie fan expects for their first year in the SEC. I know I've heard a few delusional Mizzou alums say that they're going to challenge for the SEC-East. I cannot see that possibly happening.
  8. And don't forget they get the Longhorns at home. They had better beat Tulane. I will be there wearing green. BTW, the new on campus Tulane Stadium is being built and should be ready by the 2013 season. The talk is that they are trying to get Ole Miss agree to open up the stadium next fall. I'm pumped because when it's built I can walk a few blocks to the games.
  9. YEAH! Arkansas is in the Top 10! Oh yeah, 2 teams in the division and four teams in the conference are ranked ahead of them. Jeebus. I have to believe that Alabama is ranked way too high. They lost tons of D to the NFL and have to replace their leading rusher and receiver. LSU could be great. Sure, Zach Mettenberger is a first time starter at QB, but could he possibly be worse than JJ or Lee? They don't lean on their QB to win games anyway. The biggest mystery of college football this year is Arkansas. It would not surprise me if they went to the title game or to the Music City Bowl. JL Smith definitely is not the long term answer at coach, but that team is loaded. There's a new D coordinator with a senior group, the O is in great hands, and maybe they respond to a different approach than the hard ass Bobby Petrino. I know there's been quotes from players to suggest that. South Carolina might finally get over the hump this year. Garcia is finally out of the picture and this Shaw guy looks to be solid, Lattimore is healthy and the D is loaded. Georgia? Who knows? The schedule is insanely easy for the SEC, but Mark Richt is still coaching there. Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and Miss State are meh. Kentucky should be improved. Ole Miss will be awful. That schedule is just brutal. I have to believe that Mizzou is in for a very rude awakening. Vandy is pretty solid and and is the Tigers' homecoming game. Looks rough for them. aTm could sneak up on some teams but that defense doesn't have the horses to compete week in and out.
  10. "Glory hole" is a term used in the oil rig drilling business, where Jerry made his money. Still [expletive] funny though.
  11. He's no longer in MLB of course, but Jim Bullinger hangs around New Orleans quite a bit and is one helluva guy. He does quite a bit to promote youth baseball here. His brother is also a local who's big into baseball and they pop up on the radio quite a bit.
  12. Or that's the deal where the extension was requested to work out details...

  15. Seeing as the only mention of that was from Olnley, did Bowden just bitchslap Buster? Buster was speculating. Bowden was calming people down who misinterpreted it. And now MLB Network is going to talk about it after the commercial. Cue the circus music. The Twitterverse has made the trade deadline insane.
  16. Seeing as the only mention of that was from Olnley, did Bowden just bitchslap Buster?
  17. Again, with a AZ/Cubs comment. Is there any smoke at all to this?
  18. But is he insinuating that's the "something big", or is that completely out of thin air?
  19. He mentioned Camp and minor leaguers, pulled McNutt out of his ass.
  20. I'm surprised someone didn't know he was still around. He's been a decent player for a few years. Yeah, the only one of that list that was really surprising was Blanco.
  21. If he played well next year I'm sure you could have gotten significantly more. That's exactly how the Maholm deal happened. That is how Dempster's value went from non-existent to quite high this year. Yes, but he's a catcher. That does factor here as far as a trend.
  22. I had to look these up to believe it. Jerome Williams?!? Did he have to beat out Mike Harkey in spring training?
