  1. If that happens I will ban myself from ESPN for a week. EDIT: Bad enough that every 10 seconds I have to see that a third string QB got cut from the Patriots.
  2. Only if facts are cool. Big 10 opponents Week 1: Indiana St UNLV So Illinois Cincy UMass Buffalo Syracuse No Illinois Central Mich Wyoming Cal An before you tell me how tough No Illinois is, I would argue the same point to Louisiana-Lafayette. Good lord, dude. If you can't take a few sarcastic jabs, life's going to be miserable for you in the college football thread. Take it from someone who knows. Thought that was tit for tat, no harm. I was just pointing out silliness. My sarcasm was just for kicks.

  4. First of all, I was responding to some ridiculous hyperbole. Secondly, yes I would argue that point, year after year. What are the big games this weekend? Alabama at Va Tech LSU/TCU Georgia at Clemson And that's not to mention Miss St at OK St. What's the next biggest game around the country involving BCS conferences? Northwestern at Cal? Syracuse at Penn St?
  5. No, but they will keep him until his mistakes become important. He's done a much better job as of late of not throwing his players under the bus. Agreed on all of this, but it is a sad statement that this is where the bar is set now.
  6. I thought that's all the SEC teams ever play out of conference. North Carolina 10, #6 South Carolina 27 Ole Miss 39, Vanderbilt 35 12:30AM Toledo @ #10 Florida 1:00 PM Rice @ #7 Texas A&M 3:30 PM Mississippi State vs. #13 Oklahoma State 4:00 PM Louisiana-Lafayette @ Arkansas 5:30 PM #1 Alabama vs. Virginia Tech* 6:00 PM Austin Peay @ Tennessee 7:00 PM Washington State @ Auburn 7:00 PM Murray State @ Missouri 7:10 PM Kentucky vs. Western Kentucky* 8:00 PM #5 Georgia @ #8 Clemson 9:00 PM #12 LSU vs. #20 TCU* I get it that some of you guys have a blind hatred for the SEC, but sometimes you let that cloud your thinking. Even teams like Va Tech and North Carolina looked pretty tough when the schedule was put together. But carry on with that logic.
  7. Great UM/Vandy game last night. I have a lot of faith that Hugh Freeze is the right coach for that job, but there is NO way the Ole Miss QB will be able to run those read-option keepers against the "big boys" in the SEC. There were several goal line situations where I watched Wallace fake the dive play then juke around the OT, sometimes untouched because the LBs bit hard on the fake. Disciplined defenses like Bama, LSU or Georgia will blow Wallace up more than a few times. I love the pace they play, but I question how they will keep Wallace or anyone else on the field in that scheme. Ole Miss wins with pace, speed and scheme. The only problem with that is all over the SEC there are guys who are monsters who can match that speed.
  8. jeez vandy has to have the worst looking chicks in the SEC. Fact. But that is a very high bar that has been set, especially evident when sitting next to the Ole Miss section. They are loaded with talent.
  9. Not happening.
  10. Serious question: When and what type of program do you see Nutt getting his next job? Being an Arkansas fan I despise the guy, and some friends and I have discussed this. Consensus is it happens next season at a UAB or Memphis type school.
  11. I can't wait for this game and honestly have no idea who wins. I'm kind of leaning Vandy, but that is strictly going with a gut feeling. I do know that whoever does win is set up for a really nice season and maybe knocking on the door to the Top 25. As to Vandy winning 6 of the last 8, I think your old "coach" had a bit to do with those 4th quarter losses. It's his specialty.
  12. How much can we love gifs? Not enough.
  13. I agree about Baez but he has steadily improved his D, and I am not so sure that Castro isn't a better fit for 2B long term. It's not like his defense has been stellar.
  14. Or Valbuena stays at 3B, Baez at SS, Castro at 2B, Rizzo at 1B. When Bryant is ready Valbuena becomes a supersub. That infield could be sexy.
  15. I would imagine Javier Baez's package can only be viewed in widescreen format.
  16. OK, what the hell does "package" mean? A 30 minute expose? A 2 minute segment? His junk?
  17. The battling Billy Joes were around the same time Mike Ditka was flipping off the fans walking off the field in the Dome. We had a nice run of successful college QBs who were complete garbage in the pros. Steve Walsh, Danny Awful, Heath Schuler, the battling Billy Joes...
  18. Would much rather that game be played at LSU and not in Oxford. Ole Miss hasn't lost by more than 6 points in Baton Rogue since 1995. All of our beatdowns by LSU have happened in Oxford. Well, that's dumb. No it isn't. Our previous 5 losses in Oxford have come at an average of 28 points difference. Our previous 5 losses in Baton Rogue came at an average of 5 points difference. Ole Miss has a bit of a recent history of playing better on the road than at home. Ole Miss has arguably the premier gameday atmosphere in the country, but because fans are so into that aspect of it, they often are pretty weak actual game fans. Don't make a lot of noise or anything like that. I've been to a couple of games in Oxford and can attest that pregame in the Grove is something to behold. It is easily the best tailgating I have ever seen anywhere. Once you get into the stadium though, everyone is so loaded that the game is an afterthought. I am generalizing of course, but just barely. Now that they are good we will see if that changes. It reminds me of going to the Superdome in the lean years. We knew we were terrible so we might as well get trashed and make it a party. Back when I first got season tickets, the Saints rotated quarterback starts between two Billy Joe's...Holbert and Tolliver. Of course we got wasted.

  20. Yes, a thousand times, yes.
  21. Would much rather that game be played at LSU and not in Oxford. Ole Miss hasn't lost by more than 6 points in Baton Rogue since 1995. All of our beatdowns by LSU have happened in Oxford. Living in LSU country (spit), I get a bunch of Tiger news and practice reports. I get the feeling this could be a bit of a down year for them. That said, I could easily see Ole Miss, LSU and Bama all having one loss going into the SEC title game.
  22. I can't believe I am actually defending them, but don't be so quick to dismiss Ole Miss as a quality opponent for Bama. That LSU/UM game in Oxford could be a pretty serious game nationally.
  23. Same in New Orleans. Hey Fox! Not everybody in the country is infatuated with Yanks/Sox assholes!
  24. Not sure this is where to post this video, but...wow! I love these guys. http://youtu.be/jn5zytfm9No
  25. Point taken. I just think that the highly ranked SEC teams end the season that way because they are that good, not simply because of scheduling quirks. Did anyone really have a doubt that a 1 loss Bama team was going to destroy an undefeated Notre Dame team last year? I think a case could be made for South Carolina being damn good this year, easy schedule or not, but we will have to wait and see. And I also think that you are seriously underestimating the strength of the 2nd tier in the SEC, ie Ole Miss or Vandy.
