  1. http://www.businessinsider.com/theo-epsteins-plan-to-fix-mlbs-wild-card-round-is-perfect-2013-10 It's just his opinion, but it looks like I'm in good company. I know it's just like, my opinion man, but that idea has some problems at first blush. Most doubleheaders are split, let alone the issues if there's extra innings. That also gives the team with lesser record the deciding game at home.
  2. Yes, the great lineage of New Orleans rappers. Because everyone was wondering... Master P is currently around town speaking to troubled youth in high schools. I assume he does not enter the gyms in his golden tank. His brother C Murder changed back to his birth name a few years back as he was awaiting trial for, you guessed it, murder. He saw the light in jail supposedly but the jury was not impressed. Claims of racism abounded. Mystikal is putting out some badass music lately collaborating with acts around town. Lil Wayne, who ironically had his life saved by an NOPD officer when he accidentally shot himself as a teenager, is still rapping about drugs, drug money and bitches.
  3. Yep, that's always the first thing that pops in my head. Sort-of related, I feel like a good way to test if you're dealing with a Cubs' die-hard (presuming they're old enough to have seen it) is to ask if they know who the three players in that rundown were. Random thing that only lunatics like us remember, I'm sure. Why do I want to say Auggie Ojeda?
  4. You don't remember the 3 headed catching monster of Joe Girardi, Damon Berryhill and Rick Wrona? I remember that I was 16 and wanted Wrona to start more games.
  5. Jay-Z does know the sports agent business apparently.
  6. I actually like the Ernie Johnson team on the TBS broadcasts. I've always thought he was underrated and Cal is much less of a stiff than usual.
  7. I have no idea why I continue to watch Baseball Tonight. Schilling and Larkin make John Kruk seem like a voice of reason. They all say no way Girardi's coming to Chicago. So I guess that means he's coming then.
  8. How about the years Payton was there? I don't know how this is an argument against the Saints. Aren't they better with Payton calling the plays?
  9. actually that didn't even happen. the indians were next-to-last in the AL in attendance this year. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2013/09/attendance_down_but_tribe_tick.html that's insane. surprise contender, nice stadium, and they were the city with that insane sellout streak, right? We should take this as a cautionary tale. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
  10. Saints offensive stats for 2012-2103: AVG HOME POINTS SCORED: 31 AVG ROAD POINTS SCORED: 26 AVG OUTDOOR POINTS SCORED: 32 EDIT: The defense was too small of a sample size given that there are only 4 games under Rob Ryan and player turnover.
  11. I will be nowhere near a computer during the game and even if I were I will be in no condition to type. No one is on here trolling or talking trash. The level of butthurt is disproportional. I think Drew will pick the Bears secondary apart, but our O-line and lack of a running game concerns the hell out of me. If the Bears win I think that means Tulane's own Matt Forte will have had a huge game. Our LBs can't keep up with him.
  12. And here I thought this was a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and musings. Seriously though, I don't think anyone would be too surprised to see the Saints offense struggle on the grass on the road. Likewise, I don't think anyone would be too surprised to see Drew take over the game and go to 5-0.
  13. Pirates>Indians>>>everybody else except>>>>>>>>Reds and Cardinals.
  14. It's largely a Bear fan thread, and there's pro-Bear "fan arguments" going on. Go figure. OK, true. I have some friends who were born and raised in Chicago and it's interesting to hear what they think about Cutler. I would say out of the 5 of them, 2 of them will defend Jay Cutler to the bitter end and 3 of them despise him. There is absolutely no grey area.
  15. I don't think so. Did you see the Saints vs. TB? Totally different team outside of that dome. Did you see the Bears defense last week? The defense that gave up 16 points on normal fields not shortened by Cutler turnovers and poor ST? Red Zone defense is still defense, but I was looking more at what Reggie Bush did. I know there was this discussion yesterday, but Sproles is pretty damn good. Look, I have said in this thread that I am really torn on this game and I think it could go either way. I am not trashing the Bears, but rather trashing all this hyperbole-totally different team on the road, awful receiver comparison, rabble rabble.
  16. There's nothing system based about Graham, Colston or Sproles, who are the 3 leading receivers for Drew. Have you guys seen the catches Colston has made this year, including game winners in traffic? We can agree that Marshall is a beast, right? But the premise that Saints receivers are automatically downgraded because of their system while other teams' players are undervalued is crazy talk. I could just as easily say that with all the different weapons Drew has (TD passes to 5 different receivers) that that devalues our guys. They get thrown the ball, they catch it and we rack up 300 or 400 yards passing every game. IMO, this is using fantasy football logic.

  18. I will bet anyone $10 that on PTI today, Wilbon mentions how the Cubs missed out on their chance to get Ryno.
  19. I think that score is just about right. I just am not sure who comes out on top. Turnovers and special teams decide it I'm thinking. Sproles is our new Reggie Bush, but I see what you're saying. Brees>>>>Stafford though. Sproles 'new' ???? He's nothing like Reggie Bush and frankly is less worrisome. Jimmy Graham is the only clear threat from NO. They have a collection of randoms at WR and no real between the tackles runner. I think the Bears bounce back in this one. Fair enough on Bush/Sproles. I was probably thinking about Bush circa 2007 and Sproles today. Reggie is much better now. Colston and Moore are damn good receivers. Neither are a Brandon Marshall but they are definitely not "randoms".

  21. Getting hit in the chest is a penalty?
  22. The Bengals have tried to steal WHO DAT from the Saints. It makes sense down here with New Orleans and Louisiana accents. I'm not sure what the hell Cincinnati is trying to do. Go ahead and hate it. We don't care. I haven't seen too much of the Bears games this year. I will tell you that the Saints defense is night and day better than last year, when players were routinely out of position and they were completely on their heels. The strength is easily the D-line and the pass rush, but the secondary is much improved. Kenny Vacarro at safety is a future star. The LB's are adequate, which makes me nervous about Tulane's own Matt Forte. The Saints offense has finally started to click this year once we decided to stop forcing Mark Ingram into the mix. It really is a pick your poison situation with Drew Brees and all the weapons they have. Jimmy Graham is Jimmy Graham, and it seems like they've tried to get Colston more involved so far. I still say that outside of Brees and Graham, Pierre Thomas is the most important player on offense. Our left tackle is not so good, but the line has been pretty solid, especially since we get Jahri Evans back this week. Almost forgot. WHO DAT!!
  23. Again, I think the Mizzou/Vandy game will tell the tale. I could be way off base but I'm just not seeing it yet. I also am biased on the Hogs but I see them as about to put it all together. Starting next season, Ark/MO will be permanent interdivisional opponents as the last game on the schedule.
