    You're kidding, right? RIGHT? I just refuse to believe that tanking is in the top 5 things they consider with roster moves. Just another consideration in addition to all what had been previously mentioned in terms of service time, and blowing the extra year of control. If I get the #1 pick in next years draft as a result of keeping Javy down until next May then great. I'll take that too. No offense meant at all, but I just HATE HATE HATE this line of thinking in general. Plus, getting him acclimated to MLB pitching trumps any draft position in my mind.

    Today I learned Valbuena has more PA as a Cub than Matt Murton, Ronny Cedeno, and Glenallen Hill. He's like the Ramon Hernandez of Jose Vizcaino of this era, utility guys who were good enough to hang on for several years. And would you give up, say Pierce Johnson for Ramon Hernandez or Jose Vizcaino? No. But then I agree with several on here that the value of Valbuena to the Cubs by far exceeds the trade value for him.

    I am almost positive that Craig Biggio was still doing some backup catching before his full time switch to 2B.

    If an option is Sweeney in CF, Mendy at 2B and Valbuena at 3B I choose that.

    Just trade him for a Leal type and be done with it.

    Absolutely. I think any "fair" message would be trumped by a message of "these guys coming up are badasses so you better be playing like you're roster spot depends on it". I'm not buying into the lazy Castro talk of last year at all, but I do wonder if knowing he is very replacable has focused him a touch. I'm not seeing the defensive mental lapses either this year.

    This thread has turned ridiculous. I cringed at "rape" used there too but there's no need to post a resume to gain some supposed moral high ground. I've had immediate family members die from cancer and hate that term to be used to describe bad team guys, but c'mon. Intent does matter.

    Been watching a little bit if them as FSSW is in with the regular channels here. It's a perfect storm of terribleness. They had quite a few defections and have been decimated by injuries. Fielder, Harrison, Holland, Ogando, Soto and Profar all have had time on the DL.

    All seriousness, Edwin Jackson is quickly becoming my least favorite. I do almost feel sorry for him, the way I felt sorry for LaTroy when he struggled, but god is he a disappointment.
