  1. Remember how much Harry loved Doug Dascenzo? Every time he made decent catch in CF, Harry would act like it was the second coming of Willie Mays.
  2. He's going to ride the bench and the rage will be glorious. I will officially turn in to a Renteria darksider is this happens.
  3. This post made me recheck when Rizzo's contract expired. Holy [expletive] is that a good deal!
  4. Sounds too much like Al Queda. The rednecks and hicks will hate him.
  5. I want Mendy Alcantara to have the biggest boom box playing Salsa music in the clubhouse. Until Javy is called up and his boom box dwarfs Mendy's.
  6. I loved Aramis but for some reason never warmed up to D Lee.
  7. Mendy Alcantara. That's a badass sexy CF name. "Mendy Alcantara with a shot to the gap."
  8. i knew you'd have some lame ass answer like grace or sandberg smh Yeah what a dumb little kid I was... Well, yeah...Shawon Dunston was my favorite player when I was a little kid and I thought there wasn't anyone better, but he's not going to still be my pick at [expletive] 35. I'm 42 and he STILL is my favorite player. If I were drafting a team of former Cubs in their prime, of course not. In 2nd place, Hawk. Damn he was such a badass.
  9. ARGGHHH! Lake is leadoff again! I honestly would rather see Barney or Coughlan at leadoff. At least they may take a walk or see a few pitches.
  10. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Vsj3lDzSrFE/SrYuqKs0dnI/AAAAAAAAAgI/T_AbJS5fiws/s320/dunston.jpg
  11. Looking at Alfonso Soriano's OBP and the fact he was DFA'd today, I'm just glad we found someone to take him. DFA? That's really kinda sad in a way. It's a shame there will be the usual morons who will laugh about that.
  12. I am absolutely going to all 5 games games at NO Zephyr Field. It's the first few days of my vacation.
  13. http://i.imgur.com/rQqjavU.png Yeah, but what if we erased every pitch from Veres?
  14. I'm really starting to like these guys. Seriously, bring up Alcantara already.
  15. SORRY! I am hungover today, partly alcohol bust mostly lack of sleep this week. I will make some coffee.
  16. Fun fact: Friday's game will pit Jason Hammel (7-5, 2.98 ERA) against Tanner Roark (7-5, 2.98).
  17. Please, please let Alcantara be in the lineup for this game. I feel it coming.
  18. Two general rules of thumb: Don't get into Facebook debates. Don't read the comments section of any political anything.
  19. Holy crap! I am trying to think of anyone who has had a worse stretch than that. Drawing a blank.
  20. There is value in not finishing last again. Sure, we've built our organization through the draft, I get that. But at a certain point that [expletive] gets old. It has gotten old with our own players who are sick of losing and aren't likely to want to resign with us. It gets old with the fans disguised as empty seats at Wrigley this season. It starts to seem like the same ole loser Cubs with potential free agent signings who don't even have the Cubs on their radar. Say what you will about cliches like "creating a culture of winning" but at some point I'd like to see how some of our guys react to playing meaningful games in at least August. The last couple of late summers have seen all the high leverage moments of spring training games.
  21. Screw around with his hitting approach and watch him struggle all year? I was more under the impression that they basically told Starlin to be Starlin this season and he's gone back to the player we knew and loved.
