  1. Belmont upset Murray State to win the OVC.
  2. I'm not sure I've ever seen shooting this bad for a half. 3-23 at one point.
  3. Wichita State is 5 down to Illinois State with 30 seconds to play.
  4. Here's my potential list: any team currently in the top 70 KP (because they're quality) or RPI (because the committee uses it), that is tournament eligible (sorry, Syracuse): AAC: Cincinnati, Connecticut, SMU, Temple, Tulsa ACC: Duke, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Pitt, Virginia A-10: Davidson, Dayton, Rhode Island, Richmond, UMass, VCU B1G: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin B12: Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, West Virginia Big East: Butler, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's, Villanova, Xavier CUSA: Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion Horizon: Green Bay, Valparaiso Ivy: Harvard, Yale MAAC: Iona MAC: Buffalo MVC: Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Wichita State MWC: Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State OVC: Murray State Pac-12: Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA SEC: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt Southland: Stephen F Austin Southern: Wofford WCC: BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's 78 teams overall from 20 conferences, seems pretty inclusive, considering there's only 36 at large bids, so a maximum of 56 teams on this list would make it.
  5. Statistically, there's very little difference between Arkansas and Davidson. Yet one is "projected as a lock and a 4 seed" and the other is barely on the bubble.
  6. Yale beats Harvard, and is one win away from its first Ivy title since the Kennedy administration.
  7. Murray State came back to win 80-77.
  8. Also, Yale leads by 4 at Harvard with 5 to play. Both are currently tied at 10-2 in the Ivy.
  9. Murray State (ranked #25 by coaches who obviously aren't paying attention) is down 10 midway through the second half of their OVC semifinal. I doubt their profile is good enough for at large consideration, as even their RPI is in the 60s.
  10. Potential bid thievery starts tonight, as Wichita State and Northern Iowa begin playing in the MVC tournament.
  11. Every year I don't look at the RPI until now, and every year I see things that are ridiculous. Buffalo currently sports an RPI of 35. Illinois is 2-2 against the RPI top 10.
  12. Two conference tournaments start today, so let's start the 12th annual committee thread. We can either do this in thread discussion or via PMs to me, but by next weekend we'll have a full field selected, seeded and bracketed. To participate, just reply with your favorite team and a list of the teams that should be considered for a tourney berth by Tuesday March 10.
  13. Today, Illinois looks like a dangerous team.
  14. Side note: early gauge on interest in a mock NCAA selection committee this year. The one I did last year basically garnered zero interest outside me and ended up with just me rambling on about the process. If there's no interest, I'll just let it go.
  15. Aaron Cosby is leaving the Illinois basketball team effective immediately. He'll graduate this semester and then transfer.
  16. After this I might suggest adding some players to the poll, like the rest of publications' org top 10/15 guys, if anyone's missing.
  17. Cub infield totals 16 WAR and combines for over 100 HRs. Cub fall rotation will have two pitchers different from their opening day rotation. Cubs will have top 2 rookie of the year finishers. Cubs will win 100 games for the first time in over a century.
  18. I'd like it better if it didn't offer a bonus point to the game, and every game were worth 3 points, but it's increased interest in regular season games a bunch since implementation.
  19. The concept that the shootout somehow ruins hockey is the true loser point.
  20. I also enjoy that Noahs nickname for him is Snelly Cat.
  21. He's better than Kirk Hinrich.
  22. Well, that was just about the exact opposite of the game in Ann Arbor.
  23. Wait, Evergreen Park did this? Okay now I feel bad for JRW. EPs league was the worst to deal with in the district.
  24. So if my counting is right, he thinks 6 NL teams are better than the cubs...Nats, Dodgers, Cards, Pirates, Giants. ..and Mets?!
  25. They've been stripped of their title and must forfeit all their wins because they weren't using players from their district. It was a running joke throughout the year the past few years in the area anyway, but it's a shame for the kids.
