    This is eerily similar to the Missouri game.

    Illinois needs to get better at not abandoning their game plan when they're playing a team that can stay close to them in the second half. Third game already this year where they had a good second half lead and basically gave it away by not playing tight defense and dribbling around the perimeter for too long.

    There's still PSU, Nebraska, Purdue, NW and Rutgers to beat up on. You think Michigan's had it rough, check on what Nebraska's been through. Plus, this game's not exactly over yet either. Still not thrilled that Illinois doesn't have any home games against Wisconsin, OSU, Iowa or Minnesota this year. MSU and Michigan are the only "marquee" home games they'll have this year.

    Including tonight, Mirotic is 14 for 23 from 3-point range over his last 6 games. That's over 60 percent. From 3. Also, over a 6 minute period covering the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second, the Bulls held the Pacers to 1 point, that being a tech FT because of Thibs.

    It's the effect of an ownership group that the sport has passed by, like the Blackhawks (and Cubs) of 10 years ago. It's for that reason I'm somewhat relieved they will use a consultant because I don't feel confident in their ability to bring on the right front office on their own.

    Overall, just kinda bummed about Emery not working out, because he seemed to be a really smart guy that just made a lot of poor personnel and draft decisions.

    At this point I'm sure the management isn't overreacting to the winter league ball sample size, and neither should anyone else. Getting Javy some extra ABs this year isn't hurting anything.

    Kansas State gave up 6 points in the final 3 seconds against Texas Southern at home to lose by 2.

    The Atlanta Hawks just won 5 consecutive games against Chicago, @Cleveland, @Houston, @Dallas, and LA Clippers, and tonight they're losing by 30 at home to Milwaukee.

    Generally, when the opponent is trying to run out the clock, you should expect run plays.

    Punting with 5 minutes left in a 10 point game, and the punt goes about 30 yards...that should just about do it.

    And it's a 10 point game. Not sure Illinois has 3 scoring drives left in them.

    Ugh, Illinois had LT stopped on 3rd down at midfield, but the QB fumbled and Illinois D picked it up and brought it back, only to fumble it back to LT. Change of possession gives LT a fresh set of downs, and the next play is a 70 yard pass to the 3.

    21-18 now. Illinois has over 400 yards of offense and 18 points.

    At this point, just let McDermott heal up and give him some more time to spell Butler in games. He's the wing shooter they're lacking at this point, just needs minutes and time.
