  1. I need 40 points from my QB to win tonight. Do I go with Brees against the Bears pass D or Cutler against the NO pass D?
  2. This year, so far, the West is 89-45 against the East, a 66.4% winning percentage. It's down from earlier in the month, as the East has struck back lately.
  3. That's last year, actually.
  4. I didn't see it, but I guess they unveiled a statue of Kerry Wood soaked in apete6's urine or something.
  5. It seems like this has been the case for years, and years, and years now. When was the last time the East was better than the West? The 80's and 90's was basically the reverse of this situation. The actual last season the East was better, though, was 2008-09. That was the year the Cavs, Magic and Celtics all won 59 or more games, and only one East team finished with fewer then 32 wins (Washington).

  7. I mean...ten days in AAA = 1 extra year of team control.
  8. The 8th place team in the West right now is a game under .500. So the conferences are more or less balanced at this point in time, record-wise, top-8 (West still leads H2H by an absurd amount, and the bad East teams are BAD). That is, until OKC gets rolling.
  9. Gotta say, I love Lester getting #34--hopefully it will help some of the false Kerry Wood hero worship from Cubs fans and hopefully ends any chance of it ever being retired for a guy whose on-field stats don't come close to earning that honor. Nothing against Woody, but those are just facts. There was never a chance Wood's jersey was going to be retired. That's basically the only fact in this post.
  10. Uh, yes? They're kinda really good everywhere else so yeah. That's pure fantasy, but believe what you want. I think you might be missing a good deal of reality yourself, here. Trading the quality depth they have is pure lunacy, and the team they have right now is definitely good enough to win the East at the least. Brooks is already getting burn over Hinrich in the 4th, and Rose is just starting to get his legs under him again. You're overreacting to a small sample size of play when 1-2 key players are absent from each night.
  11. Rose with his first 30 point game since Dwight Howard was on the Magic and LeBron James had no rings.
  12. Shark, Donaldson, Barney, James Russell, Cashner, Josh Harrison, DJ LeMahieu...
  13. Does Castro count?
  14. Ross Detwiler just sounds like a Texas Ranger.
  15. He was hitting baseballs at an above-average MLB ability level before he was old enough to buy beer. Like Starlin Castro. Except with power and more walks. But sure. Like Castro but better. Right, very similar to Castro, right down to the morons that want to run him out of town for not being exactly what they want all the time. I'm just hoping some of those morons work in the Washington front office. Jim Bowden still have influence there?

  17. One FA signing and all of a sudden the Cubs are linked to everyone.
  18. I mean, if the Cubs are seriously looking for a corner OF bat to significantly help right away, I'd ask the Dodgers about Puig's availability and hope I still get Ned Colletti.
  19. Being bad at offense in LF is something the Cubs have plenty of in-house options for already. He's a year off of a .779OPS,21SB,3.9fWAR season with tolerable defense in CF. Even a line like his 2012 season would be great. He's 35. His 2012 season is long in the rear view mirror. I'd rather stick with Coughlan.
  20. Being bad at offense in LF is something the Cubs have plenty of in-house options for already.
  21. According to Jonah Keri, the most talked about thing at the Winter Meetings so far is Back to the Future 2.
  22. Is the Projected WAR in this article the same thing that Kyle has been talking about with the Rockies randomly looking like a contender. Near the bottom he uses the more reliable Base Runs which pushes the Rockies down to middle of the pack. The Cubs remain 5th in the NL by that measure. Looking at baserun projections for the AL makes the White Sox off-season thus far all the more baffling.
  23. I don't think they need someone just because they're a veteran. They have plenty of those already, and "showing the kids how to play" is the job of the coaching staff, and they've got plenty of those as well.
  24. What about Hendricks makes people think he's a lock for the rotation/is going to be good? His FB averages only 87 MPH and he struck out like 5 per 9 last year. I get he has really good control, but his stuff just isn't there. He's already been really good. He continues to get results despite the velo.
  25. So Keith Law doesn't think the Cubs are contenders because he thinks Lester is replacing Hendricks in the rotation and that the bullpen is a weakness. And Rob Neyer doesn't think the Cubs are contenders because they got outscored by 100 runs and has a long way to go to upgrade the offense.
