  1. Ken Pomeroy with a solid article on how slow college basketball has become, and some tips on how to fix it: http://regressing.deadspin.com/this-will-probably-be-the-slowest-college-basketball-se-1665098691
  2. There is a decent chance Illinois will play recently undefeated Marshall in a bowl game.
  3. Rutgers leads Virginia at the half, which doesn't count towards the ACC-B1G challenge, but...wow.
  4. It's sad because Illinois, historically, has a great football tradition I know. I go to more games than most Illinois fans I know. Another problem they have around here is they constantly degrade Chicago about everything, then scratch their heads when the best football and basketball players from the Chicago area don't come to Champaign. I think most fans were just frustrated when they let Zook go for making a bowl, and then Beckman took over and won 1 B1G game in two years and finished last in the B1G in recruiting the past two years, meaning he did neither recruiting nor results right. It's honestly a shock that the team is bowl-eligible this year, but that's largely on how terrible the conference is this year than how well the Illini played, despite today being their best performance of the season by far, especially on defense.
  5. I mean, they shot 30% from the field and under 50% from the FT line, and practically led wire to wire against a team that destroyed Memphis yesterday.
  6. There goes Georgia's slim chance of getting into the playoff. UCLA's is about over, too. I suppose if Arizona wins there's a remote possibility they sneak in yet, but they aren't jumping TCU or Bama for sure, so they'd need to beat Oregon, have OSU, MSU, and Baylor lose, and hope the committee is impressed enough with them to jump everybody else.
  7. 26 point win over Indiana State. Tomorrow should be good against Memphis/Baylor.
  8. Illinois looks really good, but I'm not sure Indiana State is good this year.
  9. The most frustrating thing about this defense is how often they give receivers space to catch the ball and try to knock it out afterwards. Tillman is gone, folks, it doesn't work anymore.
  10. ITT: minnesotacubfan shows how completely off his rocker he truly is.
  11. never go full kyle. By being right? Because he's right. Is that what we're calling Full Kyle now? No, going full kyle is making projections off baseless assumptions and calling it 'logic'.
  12. Scouts is basically survival/military training for kids that starts out all fun and games and gradually gets more hardcore the longer you go. Most of the kids I know who went all the way through Eagle scouts joined the actual military soon afterwards and excelled there. If that's your thing, more power to you.
  13. Yeah mizzou is Rutgers bad. Still an outside shot at a top half finish in the SEC though.
  14. I mean, I'd take Bumgarner off their hands if they don't want him long-term.
  15. they are not mutually exclusive reports kaplan didn't say the Cubs were going to get him at that price, just that they offered. Look, I'm not going to be able to make jokes about Kaplan being a 14-year-old internet troll if you're going to be unwilling to accept a few false equivalencies.
  16. Early Big Ten thoughts: 1. Wisconsin 2-11. WHO KNOWS 12-13. PSU-NW 14. Rutgers
  17. So we either believe Kaplan or a 14-year-old internet troll. Now, we're sure they're different people, right?
  18. Oh good, we've reached the "Other teams are talking to players? The offseason was a waste!" portion of the transactional offseason.
  19. Projected Red Sox starting rotation, current: Clay Buchholz Joe Kelly Rubby De La Rosa Allen Webster Brandon Workman
  20. Also, the Northwestern-Illinois winner will now somehow be bowl eligible.
  21. Coming into this weekend, the entire SEC has two out of conference losses. One by an awful Vandy team at home to a bad Temple team, and one by SEC East leader Missouri at home against the only winless team in the B1G.
  22. Small sample sizes are hilarious. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/statistics/team/_/stat/scoring-per-game
  23. If by some miracle they do win Thursday-Thursday, they suddenly look amazing for the playoffs.
  24. Illini currently the second highest scoring team in the nation, but the schedule has been really weak, so the adjusted efficiency is only 57th, which is still thrice as good as it was last year.
