  1. It's okay, the Bears are primed for a 7-1 second half to make a run to the NFC North title.
  2. I don't think an 8-team playoff really dilutes the field all that much, especially with the stipulation that it includes the "Big 5" champions. So for this year, you'd be looking at: SEC champ (Georgia vs MSU/Bama/Ole Miss/Auburn winner) ACC champ (FSU) Pac-12 champ (Oregon) B1G champ (MSU/OSU) B12 champ (Baylor/TCU) and then 3 teams from among ND, the SEC runners up, and the runners up in the B1G and B12.
  3. This has not been anywhere near a middle of the pack defense. That is the crux of the issue. "Wildly inconsistent" is about the best thing that could be said about the defense. The offense hasn't been elite, but the defense hasn't given the offense even a modicum of a shot in 3 of the games, couldn't manage one timely stop against Buffalo, and couldn't keep the team within striking distance against Miami (both times the offense got a TD to get back into the game, the D promptly gave up monstrous, clock eating TD drives to kill the momentum). The offense hasn't been elite, but the defense hasn't been middle of the pack either. Injuries can be pointed to both as to the problems (O-line and WR on offense, secondary on defense), but the LB and S play has been the worst in the league, and without Fuller out there today the secondary had about as good a chance at stopping them as a team of high school kickers.
  4. With losses to the Jags and Bucs.
  5. Your point was ignorant if it ignores the contributions of the defense. That is the point.
  6. Having the worst pass defense (and near worst special teams) in the league will never get you to 5-3 or 6-2 even if you have a top 5 offense. It's just easier to blame the offense because that's the team's focus, but the reason they didn't make the postseason last year was the defense, and it's no better this year.
  7. If anything, the value of the front office and management in baseball is the most vastly undervalued commodity in the sport right now. It's really Moneyball in action.
  8. Good enough for 10th in the league in scoring...and now the defense...32nd in league in scoring. Cant be 10th per game. That's all that matters. No, I'm pretty sure the defense matters too...
  9. I mean, in an effort to gain depth, you traded QB and WR depth for the RBs of two of the four worst teams in the league, who likely won't be running much in games.
  10. Good enough for 10th in the league in scoring...and now the defense...32nd in league in scoring.
  11. @FO_ASchatz Brady 27-of-31 today, with three drops and one pass that was miscommunication. That's just... yeah. Bears secondary SUCKS.
  12. I've got to avoid Facebook for a while. Apparently this is all on Jay. Although if guarding TEs is jays responsibility it at least makes sense why they are so wide open.
  13. I think you gave up the best two players in a two for two deal.
  14. I'll take the under on two Maddons.
  15. They [expletive] won?!
  16. Well, at least that didn't end up affecting any team's special 2005 season in the long ru...EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE.
  17. Yes, I'm sure he's not married simply because he couldn't be tied down.
  18. 36 names on that list, and it doesn't include Rizzo, Castro, Castillo, Arrieta, Straily, Strop, Turner, Rondon or Grimm .
  19. Of course, it was fun mostly because Thibs had the starters in and Atlanta was using D-leaguers for the whole 4th quarter. There was no reason for starters to be there aside from Thibs being psycho and having priorities out of whack. Oh absolutely. It was insanity from Thibs, but the crowd and team were into it enough, I was able to just soak it in and enjoy it fully. True story, there's an ESPN Chicago article that asserted the entire takeaway from last night was Thibs doesn't trust Rose in crunch time since he wasn't out there with the rest of the starters. Pure bonkers. Also, Stacey King is as crazy as Thibs.

  21. Is he broken? No, I think that statistically the SEC West teams have been that good, but if the polls looked like that, everyone would basically quit on college football. 7 of the top 11 in the SEC, with the other 4 being Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU and Oregon.
  22. Man, the Sagarin predictor ratings are a bit hilarious this week.
  23. Looks good to me, although I'd flip Bama and Oregon, and kick Baylor down to 9 or 10. No top 10 team should give up that many points to TCU. You realize TCU was also a top 10 team, right?
  24. I'm not sure I've ever seen a period this one sided.
