  1. Yes, because the Cubs don't already have a highly rated catcher prospect tearing up AAA that should play this and next year.
  2. Heyward doubles to spite TT's unbelief.
  3. Oh look, it's Rondon Fan and Ski going ballistic two weeks into a 9-2 season.
  4. Giving up an out on purpose with the hottest hitter in the lineup would have been criminal. Dex hit it hard, just for an out. Dexter should swing away there, but he didn't hit it hard, he popped it 200 feet in the air to short LCF. Pat made it sound like it was hit hard.
  5. Giving up an out on purpose with the hottest hitter in the lineup would have been criminal. Dex hit it hard, just for an out.
  6. Meanwhile, he's got 3 hits in 2 days and has seen 13 pitches in 2 PA this game.
  7. Because it was 6-0, and when Joe says you get a day off he means it.
  8. 1) It's not like he's really laboring. 2) Just because he's batting doesn't mean he's pitching anyway.
  9. Joe is making sure to get half the team the day off today.
  10. Gurka doesn't go anywhere near Szczur, and now Ross is up with the bases loaded.
  11. Sure, we'll just call that a sac bunt.
  12. Rockies pitchers threw 144 pitches. Cub pitchers threw 142 pitches.
  13. Through 8 innings, despite getting almost nothing going offensively and a defense disaster day, Cub pitchers have thrown 4 more pitches than Rocky pitchers.
  14. And do what? Call everything a hit? Terrible idea. Yeah if everything were a hit what would Aramis Fan Fan know what to overreact to?
  15. Hendricks was Hendricks. Few Ks, no walks, lots of grounders. 2 ER in 6+ innings.
  16. I'm starting to think that the Cubs may only be able to win 80% of their games.
  17. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2016/4/14/11431598/mlb-wins-in-a-season-record-cubs-mariners-warriors Fun read from Grant Brisbee on what it would take to break the MLB wins record.
  18. Be sure to remind their fans that 100% of their wins are against the Braves and Brewers. Check out the Nats. They've only played 2 games against the not-Braves so far and lost one of them. Oh their competition takes a giant step up this weekend with a series against the Phillies.
  19. Also, in case anyone besides me is curious, the worst ever 9-game start was the 1955 Kansas City Athletics, who started 2-7 with a -57 run differential, scoring 38 runs and giving up 95. One last quirk...the 2003 Braves started 3-6 and were outscored 65-36 to start the year, and proceeded to finish 101-61 and have the best record in baseball. So if anything, it's too early to take too much from 9 games.
  20. Would anyone be willing to part with, say, Schwarber for young pitching help?
