  1. Yes. Take the pitches. Take all the pitches.
  2. Part of me wonders if Joe was trolling everyone hitting the pitcher 8th, so now every other team does it and the Cubs don't.
  3. I know what you're saying here, but to include elimination from playoff contention in the same category as losing a playoff series is weird. In a playoff series, Lebron had something to do with every game. In this case, it's a fluke of the schedule. lol I know, my whole thing is pointing out marginally interesting oddities to the general annoyance of others. Except the Bulls get eliminated tonight if Indiana wins anyway.
  4. So southern conference voted against, northern conferences voted for. What a random coincidence.
  5. Hey, I mean Jonathan Herrera was on the team an entire year, so it's not like the Cubs can't thrive with a team mascot.
  6. Fortunately, the Cubs had a spare 24 year old slugging corner OF lying around.
  7. The most annoying thing about this is the people who think that this news means the end of the Cubs chances for the year.
  8. So Soler, Fowler and Montero get some extra PT and Szczur doesn't get DFA. Probably a net loss of about 1 WAR if Soler doesn't take off.Sucks, but that's why they built in the depth.
  9. If anything, he should have served it up more. A no doubt HR and everything is okay.
  10. Yeah, I think that's right. I vaguely remember that with Rose's first knee injury. I thought the swelling had to go down before he had surgery, not for the MRI. Or maybe its both. No it's the amputation that you can do right away, I'm pretty sure.
  11. Yes, that was the joke, it's fairly dickish to divorce somebody currently fighting cancer, he's a big dumb hick who played for the cardinals let's just assume the worst and say he left her because of the cancer. right, i guess i just meant i thought it was a little weird that we were still running with it at that level when he signed here. It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice!
  12. He pitches Sunday, we miss Miller Neither is true. Greinke goes Saturday, Miller Sunday.
  13. The Cubs are now 2-0 (162 win pace) in regular season games since Heyward joined the team.
  14. So the Rays/Blue Jays game today was decided by the new slide rule, and ended with a replay reversal: http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/63817564/v574646983/tortb-rays-awarded-dp-after-slide-rule-violation/?partnerId=as_mlb_20160406_60192086&adbid=717541498842001408&adbpl=tw&adbpr=2305377590
  15. By the stats, we had a better rotation last year even with our morass of muck in the fifth slot. But because the stats wouldn't allow for Jake replicating his previous season, right? No, he's saying the Cubs had a better rotation than the Mets last year.
  16. April Hawks hockey is more fun than March Hawks hockey.
  17. This could be the best thing, particularly for John Oliver fans: http://i0.wp.com/cdn.bgr.com/2016/04/nina-turtles-yankees-john-oliver.jpg?w=625
  18. Finally, Jake Arrieta has an out pitch.
  19. I'm not convinced the Angels are a decent team. They have Trout and Richards and.... ...I mean, it could be argued that any one of the Cubs starting lineup would be the 2nd best hitter on the Angels.
  20. Today's Cub players of the game: 1. Arrieta - Just dominant through 7 innings. Made it look easy. 2. Fowler - If Heyward and Zobrist had contributed more offensively, he'd have looked even better. 3. Rizzo/Montero/Szczur - Rizzo an overall good game, Montero the bomb, Szczur the bases-clearing double in his only chance. Take your pick. Goats: 1. Escobar - He paired contributing nothing on offense to contributing less than nothing on defense. 2. The Angels pitchers, except Morin - Nothing came easy for them today. Even Richards, who looked like he had good stuff, couldn't get outs. 3. Trout/Pujols - When that's the only offense you have, you need more than...nothing.
  21. David Eckstein retired in 2010. Not sure where he ended up.
  22. Cubs scoreboard watching...see Dodgers put up 15 in SD...and here we go.
