  1. Both those other teams lost their 10th game. Biggest differential after first 10 games is +48, by the then 9-1 1959 Indians.
  2. He's making a mockery of the game. The umps will step in to make sure he doesn't.
  3. Well, it depends how far back you want to go. In 1875, Boston began the year 9-0 and outscored their opponents 122-21. But the game was largely different before then. If we want to go since the World Series era began, only the 1999 Indians got off to a better start, starting 8-1 and outscoring their opponents 79-35, for a +44 differential (damn it, Grimm!) If you are looking Pythagorean record, the best post-silly era pythag after the first 9 games was the 1940 Brooklyn Dodgers, who started 9-0 with 54 runs scored and 14 runs allowed, for a .937 pythagorean. The Cubs are 5th all time on that list, though: 1. 1940 Dodgers, 54 RS, 14 RA, .937 Pyth 2. 1981 Athletics, 49 RS, 13 RA, .934 Pyth 3. 2002 Giants, 46 RS, 13 RA, .926 Pyth 4. 1905 Giants, 63 RS, 20 RA, .908 Pyth 5. 2016 Cubs, 64 RS, 21 RA, .903 Pyth
  4. Oh, right, the Cubs have Justin Grimm too.
  5. After last night's wild, disastrous 188 pitch 8-inning outing by Reds pitching last night, tonight they righted the ship and threw just 173 pitches in 8 innings.
  6. Jumbo Diaz...why do I remember that name...
  7. I hate slap hitters as much as the next guy, but someone should tell Billy Hamilton that he could actually be productive if he were a slap hitter.
  8. Szczur has actually been hitting the ball well thus far.
  9. Might be just the shot in the arm this lackluster offense needs.
  10. this is what I love about being a Blackhawks fan. Struggling in the regular season is barely worth discussion. Falling down a game in a series, a minor stumbling block. Falling two games down in a series, not too worried. Falling down 3 games in a series, that should make for an exciting game 7.
  11. You mean like Zack Greinke good or like Garrett Richards good?
  12. Cubs currently have 48 walks after 8 games. In 2012, the Cubs had 58 walks in March and April combined, 55 walks in June, and 52 walks in July (they picked up the walking a bit in August/September to climb to 4th worst in the league).
  13. Another thing to note in the midst of all the prodigious patience...they already had a game where they didn't walk at all.
  14. So are we underperforming our Pythag? No they are right at their Pythag right now.
  15. This team is going to win the division by 25 games and the Pirates will still be a wild card team.
  16. Reds call a hit and run down 7 in the 9th.
  17. Cubs only ended up getting the Reds to throw 188 pitches tonight, just 24 pitches an inning.
  18. Quite possibly the most illogical Card fan complaint yet.
  19. 10 walks, 1 HBP, 8 hits. Cubs have scored 9 runs and left 9 on base in 8 innings.
  20. We are a total of 10 days into the season. It'll still be early on for another month at least. He looked awful for a day or two.
  21. Bulls the first team to finish above .500 in the East and not make the playoffs since 2004.
  22. they have? i'm showing both games still going. Maybe he means so far this season.
  23. Assuming a win tonight, the Cubs are 50-19 since the trade deadline passed last year. Which is a full year pace of 117-45.
  24. Sampson hitting, because he only threw 31 pitches so far and he's good for another 30.
  25. The current hot button Reds issue on their forum is that this Cubs team isn't really homegrown because Theo traded for Rizzo and Russell and Soler sucks and Theo is only good because he spends money.
