  1. Well, the Cubs pitching forgot to show up tonight, much like derwood the past 3 days, so we start fresh against Simon. Hopefully the Cubs can score early and often, and chase Simon faster than the last time they faced him.
  2. and no walks wow Walks no longer count for the Cubs, as the umpires are stepping in and doing something about the Cubs' patience at the plate.
  3. 50 P through 2 innings for Straily, so far giving up just the one hit.
  4. Addison finally finds the best way for a hard hit ball to not be caught.
  5. Only twice in modern (since 1900) Cub history have they had 17 game starts as good as 13-4. In 1908 (13-4) and 1907 (14-3).
  6. who are the good teams? the nats? fyi cubs have had the "hardest" strength of schedule in baseball so far Followed by the Reds, Angels, Dbacks and Rockies.
  7. Apparently the Cubs have a no-hitter protocol and they discussed it with all the starters before the season: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/37824/cubs-pitching-coach-chris-bosio-predicts-more-no-hitters-as-cubs-follow-their-protocol
  8. Guess I didn't realize it was skipping to me. Oh well, I'll get the next one.
  9. MLB.com video highlights of this game are weird. 6 Reds highlights (including a random meangless Heyward strikeout in the 5th) and 3 Cub highlights.
  10. Almost 3 weeks into the season, and I'm not sure anyone in the AL is good.
  11. I mean, derwood has screwed up both the volunteering for game threads and starting them two days straight. For a poster that has an inane need to put two cents into every thread on the board, it's especially egregious to not post the only two times anyone actually wants him to.
  12. Arrieta killed an entire Twitter account yesterday:
  13. Arrieta in the interview said he was basically just pitching to contact from the 5th inning on tonight.
  14. The Cards young core of Wong, Grichuk, Piscotty, Hazelbaker, and 3 players nobody else has heard of yet easily matches the Cubs young core.
  15. The Cubs ended 2015 with a +81 run differential for the season.
  16. The Cubs are 2 wins under their Pythagorean.
  17. The Cubs have a +60 run differential, or more than the combined total of all the over .500 teams in the AL.
  18. Reds are 8-8 with a -32 run differential. 0-4 with a -32 run differential against the Cubs, 8-4 with a 0 run differential against everyone else.
  19. Arrieta through 4 starts: 31 IP, 15 H, 6 BB, 26 K, 0.87 ERA
  20. So yeah, that's the biggest blowout no-hitter since before baseball looked like baseball.
