  1. The Raptors are going to the conference finals, despite being winless in franchise history when leading a series.
  2. I just started getting this bright red bar just below the banner that I can't click to close. Please fix.
  3. You should probably just start a blog about your distaste for the forum, finding new ways to provide such cutting cynicisms as "suck my ass" to a broader audience.
  4. I guess that's where they get that saying..."You can't win 'em all"
  5. The Phillies are now 14-3 in 1-run games. They've played essentially as well as the Angels, and slightly better than the Braves statistically.
  6. Cubs currently have 5 of the top 30 hitters in MLB by fWAR and 5 of the top 30 pitchers in MLB by fWAR.
  7. The 2015 Cards never had a 9 game division lead at any point.
  8. The Cubs are now the only NL Central team over .500 within the division.
  9. Hmm C: Cervelli 1B: Hosmer 2B: Phillips SS: Danny Espinoza 3B: Matt Duffy OF: Braun OF: Carlos Gomez OF Sean Rodriguez SP: Bumgarner Sure, but who manages the team? Baker? Matheny? Price? Hurdle? Guillen?
  10. Brad Ausmus has now been on the receiving end of three 20K games. He managed the Tigers against Scherzer, caught for the Tigers against Clemens' 20K game in 1996, and caught for the Astros against Wood's 20K game in 1998.
  11. More good contact. Hendricks is getting ground balls and the offense is hitting line drives.
  12. I mean, there's so much wrong with the thread that the only thing I think is right is that Heyward is on the Cubs. It's not even a transaction, unless you count this as trading logic for a speculation to be named later.
  13. Short answer, no. Long answer, nooooooooooo
  14. A team in the playoff picture isn't trading their best pitchers.
  15. Every team that has played at Turner Field this season has 2 or more wins, except the Braves.
  16. Fun with Elo rating...the Cubs' current Elo rating is +1589, which puts them in some rare company: It is currently better than the high water mark of 20 MLB franchises: Marlins, Rockies, Padres, Brewers, Rays, Royals, Nats (Expos), Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Rangers, Astros, Angels, Phillies, Twins (Senators), White Sox, Mets, Red Sox, Tigers, Braves, and Dodgers (the 2001 Mariners were +1590, and the Cubs' high water mark is +1620 in 1906). There are a total of 34 seasons in MLB history (World Series era) that went higher than +1589, only 8 of which have occurred since the divisional era began, as parity in the league is so much higher since then.
  17. Dusty isn't ready to move Zimmerman off 1B so he can bat someone else 4th.
  18. There's a qualifier missing there.Probably"in the World Series era".
  19. Which, by projections, would still win them the division by five games.
  20. The 2016 Cubs have now matched the 1907 Cubs for their start after 30 games at 24-6 (though the 1907 Cubs were in 2nd place at that point). There were only two Cub teams in history that started better than that, 25-5 in 1876 and 26-3 in 1880, both before baseball stats really should count. So this is tied for the best Cub start in the World Series era.
  21. Nobody for at least an inning, I'd suspect. Ramirez can probably go an inning or two.
  22. Cubs relievers have pitched everyone extremely carefully since the 6th inning. Walks are up, zero runs have scored.
